GhanaCelebrities.Com: Who is Vicky Zugah? Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

Well, I’m from the Volta, born to Mr. Komla Zugah and Ms Beatrice Patu. I’ve three siblings of which I’m the third. If not on set, I watch movies and read a lot. Banku with Okro stew is my favourite.

GhanaCelebrities.Com: How did it all start for you as an actress?

It’s a gift from God. Actually, I had no intention of becoming an actress and I never knew I could act. I consistently used to receive complements from people that I ‘have the face’, I look like a ‘star material’ and stuffs like that. So I decided to give a try in ‘Trokosi’ alongside Jackie Appiah and the late Suzzy Williams. That was it, thank God for who I am now.

GhanaCelebrities.Com: What were some of the challenges you encountered whiles trying to break into the Ghanaian Movie industry?

Unlike other actresses, I’m one of the few lucky ones who had it on a plate of gold. No stress at all.

GhanaCelebrities.Com: How many movies do you have to your credit?

So many, but the notable ones that I can easily recollect are: The Bible, The Return of Beyonce, Tears of Womanhood, Pretty Queen, True Colours, Girls Connection, Big Girls Club, Araba Lawson, June 4th, My Dearest Princess, Cross my Heart, Total Exchange and others.

GhanaCelebrities.Com: Among these movies, which is your favourite? And Why is that your favourite?

Very difficult to pick one as a favourite because I enjoy every role given to me and I try to give out my best.

GhanaCelebrities.Com: It seems you have moved away from the local “dialect “movies and featuring more in the English type, what countered for this swift movement?

As a professional and an African actress, there is the need to promote my country and culture. Doing movies in the local dialect is part of the job. I wouldn’t ignore a good script in the local dialect but as the world is now a global village, most of the local producers want to go international since English is a worldwide tool. Hence I feature more in English scripts these days. Besides that, I’m part of the crusaders against local movie critics.

GhanaCelebrities.Com: Has acting in the Ghanaian Movie Industry been financially rewarding?

Previously no, but now some individuals are doing great by investing in the industry to prove that the sector is lucrative and I must say we are very grateful to all those who are making it happen. We still deserve better.

GhanaCelebrities.Com: What do you think of the Ghanaian Movie Industry today in terms of the quality of scripts, marketing and remuneration for actresses/actors?

GhanaCelebrities.Com: What are some of the challenges you face as an actress in your field of work?

When people tend to ‘equate’ me to the movies I’ve done and the roles played in those movies. They assume I’m like that in real life but few of those people who get the chance to meet me personally understand that I’m only doing my job.

GhanaCelebrities.Com: We received several emails from your fans and one question that kept coming up was; are you single?

YES. My career keeps interfering with my chances of getting the right suitor. Also, at this point I’m not sure what exactly these men want from me, whether they truly love me or only want to have a “bite” because am on TV.

GhanaCelebrities.Com: Who do you desire greatly to work with in the movie industry whom you have not worked with so far? And why?

I desire to work with anyone above me in the movie industry in order to acquire more experience.

GhanaCelebrities.Com: Has “stardom” changed your life in any way?

Definitely. It comes with its own merits and demerits. Privacy is taken away from you. Some people are out there just to see you making a wrong move while others are ready to crash your image for no reason. The merit is that, you earn a source of living from what you enjoy doing most and people all over the world may trust you enough to accept you into their homes at anytime.

GhanaCelebrities.Com: Apart from working as an actress, are you working on any other projects?

Acting is enough to keep me busy throughout the year; I’m yet to consider other projects.

GhanaCelebrities.Com: About 2 years ago, you emphatically stated that you would not mind acting “Nude” in films. Do you still hold this opinion today?

I still wouldn’t mind acting nude but only if its worthy of and sends a good message at the end of the story/movie.

GhanaCelebrities.Com: Any message to your fans?

Thanks to all my fans both home and abroad for their support, prayers and love. Keep praying for me and to those who wants to join me, keep pressing on, and never give up. Remember, you don’t need to pull anyone down to fit in; the sky is big enough to contain everybody. I love you like crazy.

GhanaCelebrities.Com: Thank You Vicky.

My pleasure.

  1. I love Vicky very much and is one of the few actressess i admire a lot, but she made a statement that i find very bad on her side. Vicky you are too good for that, pls dont dream of going nude in movies, i will cease to be a fan if you do that. Have a nice day but advice yourself. Remember that everything on this earth is vanity.
