Shocking: Jealousy Splits Wutah

blank
Wutah

Every good thing has an end and all too soon the reign of Wutah has come to an end as greediness have divided the duo. Awards are given to people who are worthy to be awarded and not people who think they need to be rewarded.

It seems Ghanaians have heard the very last from the group Wutah as their ‘Burning Desire’ to live the ‘Big Dream’ has been cut short. Very often, disagreement, money or women are blamed when a group splits but this time around, jealousy is believed to be the cause of their breakup.

I have always believed in one of Williams Shakespeare’s quotes ‘there is no art to find the minds construction on the face’. This wise quote means a lot. You meet people, they smile with you but you can’t tell what they are actually thinking. You can’t really say what a person is thinking just by looking at their face.

In every group, there is one who stands out as the leader or who really get the group going. Take the group ‘Akyeame’ and ‘Buk Bak’ for instance. After the breakup of those groups, it was clear Okyeame Kwame was the person who had the group running just as Bright Bling Bling Sparkles was to Buk Bak. Also mention Nananom and Sidney (now Barima) comes in mind. For Wutah, PV might get the nod. This is undisputable. It is not too clear why they are going solo but is there an element of jealousy out there? Per the explanation PV gave to Hitz FM, Risky is jealous that PV was awarded as the Best Male Vocal Performer at the just ended Ghana Music Awards.

He said “There are issues that trigger other things like the Ghana Music Awards where I was given the Best Male Vocal performer award. It means one artiste within a group was picked and awarded. It means they singled out one; it had to be like that. There was no way two people could have been given that award so he (Risky) is also embarking on his project to probably bring out what is in him”.

The Best Male Vocal Performance of the year went on to say that his partner has his solo project coming out but he is not too eager to release an album. Meanwhile, Risky or Wutah Kobby was quick to deny breaking up news. He said they agreed to work on solo albums respectively and that they are working on an album to be released next year.

What informs the decision of a successful group like Wutah to go solo? Well for now Wutah is no more, what you will be hearing from now is either Wutah Kobby or Wutah PV.

Wutah is a Hausa word which means fire. It has Daniel Morris (Risky) and Frank Osei (Papa Virus or PV) as members. They were discovered during the maiden edition of the Nescafe Africa Revelation music competition, where they place second to Praye.

Before their breakup, they had two albums ‘Anamontuo’ in 2005 and ‘Burning Desire’ in 2009. They also had a song ‘Esikyire’ on Appietus Compilation in 2006. Their debut album, Anamontuo, was a major success which won them an unprecedented 11 Ghana music award nominations.

Some of their popular songs include ‘Adonko’, ‘Big Dreams’, ‘Goosy Gander’, ‘Esikyire (Don’t Change Your Style), ‘Burning Desire’, ‘Kotosa’,  ‘Jah Will Be There’.

  2. i blame this industry’s ruthlessness… i’ve known these boys from (before nescafe)..deep in the underground era and not only are they partners in music, they are also serious friends.
NOW WHY DID GMA DECIDE TO AWARD ONE IN A GROUP OF TWO… THAT’S JUST A RECIPE FOR HUMAN WEAKNESS TO GIVE WAY AND LET THE NEGATIVE SIDE OF A MAN COME OUT.. WE ARE ONLY HUMAN AND OPEN TO ALL SORTS OF NEGATIVE INFLUENCES IN THIS UNFORGIVING WORLD. YOU CAN EASILY BREAK A MAN’S LOYALTY BY SUCH A GESTURE FROM GMA… EBEN THIS IS WRONG. PLS ADVOCATE THE RESTRUCTURE OF SUCH AN AWARD AS FAR AS GROUPS ARE CONCERN. THANK YOU

  3. I fully concur with that which Hammer has said, I had a discussion with someone this morning and she said the same thing, that if award is giving to an individual in a group, it is that which breeds jealousy. On no certain terms should have that be done.

I stand to be corrected but I dont think destiny child as a group had beyonce being picked up for any award individually when she was not doing an individual work. If an award is to be given by virtue of a work coming from a group, all the members of the group should be awarded.

    • @Author: Chris-Vincent Agyapong Febiri,

you fully “concord”? What the? You IS a journalist. Please check your spelling or use a thesaurus aight. The word is “concur”.  Seen? You could’ve just say “I agree/approve” to save yourself but you had to use Big Brofo to impress us. Mr. “Journalist”

        • @The eye,

nope, the author just edited the piece to correct himself without leaving any indication. Do you think I will go to the length of correcting him if he used the right word to start with? As if it’s not shameful enough to copy and paste articles without checking sources, now they edit out words in already published articles without any editing remarks. It’s true what they say, shame has no name. lol.

        • @The eye,

I meant to say the author edited out his comments not the main article. How am I suppose to trust anything else you say here Chris? When you can just edit out your own already posted words without leaving any trace. Just because you can? How do I know you guys are not doing the same thing to articles you’re posting? What type of ‘zero integrity’ journalism be this? I mean, I know ya’ll getting your hustling on and trying to live off these “celebrities” but come on.

Eben my comments are unfortunate? more like fortunate than unfortunate. It’s funny you chose to respond to part of what I said and left out the rest.  I ask again, how am I suppose to trust a site that the “web writer’s/journalists” can changed what they typed without leaving any trace to let reader’s know that an ‘edit’ has taken place? How do I know you don’t do this to published articles as well? I know, the simplest questions are the tough ones. Take your time with the response.

  4. I know for a fact that if anyone is Jealous its not Risky.Frank is that one who has wanted to go solo for a very long time. This confusion was way before the Ghana Music Awards. He felt the group was only where they are today because of his voice. No doubt he has a very good voice, but he kept on rubbing it in Risky’s face. They both have unique styles of singing but Frank was going too far with his speculation and the Award only made it worse. It gave him just what he needed to prove he is the best in the group.Risky in a bid to prove he is also worth something decided to do his own album to prove his worth. If their manager K.O.D is honest he will confirm all of this.Frank wanted the split last year, its Risky’s patience that has kept them together. But I think he got fed up.Please get your facts straight.Tired of lazy journalist who won’t make the extra effort to dig deeper than everyone else. One stroy is pasted on all the site, without any further investigation.

  6. Oh, Wutah are Haussa boys? I never knew that. No wonder they’re been ‘rained on’. And the lord said, divide and ye shall conquer in thy kingdom in my land. Or something like that. lol. I keep saying there’s something running through this industry and it ain’t pretty.  It’s really sad to see this group split up. Together they’re strong, but this split will be their downfall honestly. They “fused” together very well so going solo is a not an option. Oh well, another one bites the dust. All our best are always been cut down. why why why.

Eddy, whatever happened to Sibo brother’s by the way? Those guy’s were sick!!. I truly truly believe, deep down in my left heart, that one song on their album is what brought their downfall. “Ne Gyidi Abegya Enti Oto Nyame Nwom”.  I guess they forgot that Ghana is a “Christian” nation and some folks will take offense to such a saying. Those guys were very talented and brought a well made album on their entry.

    • @cutie,
Cutie, I admit I didn’t know they were ‘christians’ but you don’t know these ‘christian foot soldiers’ like I do. Most of them see Tribe first b4 creed for they’re just confused and disadvantaged. I’ve had ‘Christians’ in my presence, discriminated against other member’s from their own congregation because of their tribe so pls believe, I know what am talking about. They go to same church and everything but in a business situation, when “money” came into the mix, they wanted dude to be left out because of his tribe. Am not just ‘well informed’, am experienced with life hence I see through the charade and speak from a different angle.

  9. YES,IT’S SO BAD AND SAD,BUT WHAT CAN ONE DO?MUSIC-CAREER IS A JOURNEY JUST AS LIFE.SO IF THEY THINK THE CAN MAKE IT INDIVIDUALLY THAT’S TOTALLY UP TO THEM.BUT FROM MY POINT OF VIEW,THEY STARTED AS A DUO SO THEY SHOULD HAVE CONTINUE AS SO.LET’S SEE WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS FOR EACH ONE OF THEM.WUTAH DON’T FORGET TWO HEADS ARE BETTER THAN ONE.UNITED WE STAND DIVIDED WE FALL,AND AS SUCH DIE.NOT LITERARY.
