Ghana’s Most Beautiful Is Back: Is TV3 Looking For Another PHONE THIEF?

‘… Yes, the search for Ghana’s Most Beautiful has now begun! Do you have what it takes? Are you bold, articulate? Are you confident! Are you well versed in your region’s culture, history and traditions? …And fluent in your region’s language? If you are between the ages of 20 to 35. Then buy a form at TV3 front desk!’

The above is exactly the promo running on TV3 calling for potentials Ghanaian women who falls between the stipulated age range to apply to be auditioned for the 4th edition of the Ghana’s Most Beautiful Reality show.

Ghana’s Most Beautiful was initiated by TV3 in 2007; it’s a beauty pageant with a unique cultural attachment. It is an

entertainment program which is both informative and educative. The concept was derived in a bid to project the beauty of the Ghanaian woman and not to follow western beauty.

Within the Pageant all the 10 regions of Ghana are represented. The selected 10 women are allowed to research on their regions to inform the general public weekly in a live presentation. Contestants with the fewest votes are voted out weekly.

Miriam Abdul Rauf, who used the name “Nasara” in the contest last year and won it, was accused of stealing a phone. Several stories came out of it after then. TV3 hurriedly came in with a press release partying ways with her.

GhanaCelebrities.com was reliably informed that, the phone theft was like the last straw that broke the camels back, since TV3, Our source said during the competition; was at a ploy to evict Nasara from the house. This didn’t materialize because she looked like the obvious winner and the audience’s favourite from day one of the program.

This is not to mock Nasara… But the manner in which TV3 came in with the press release to take her off the crown was a bit harsh.

TV3 said they arrived at this decision after a series of investigations and internal discussions, yet failed to tell Ghanaians whether Nasara stole the phone or not.

The release reads … ‘TV3 regrets to announce that in the light of certain recent revelations, involving the winner of TV3’s Ghana’s Most Beautiful 2009 Miss Nasara Mariam Abdul Rauf, is officially parting ways with her.

It has not been easy for TV3 to arrive at such a course of action. This has however become necessary in order to maintain the integrity and uphold the noble ideas of the TV3 Ghana’s Most Beautiful brand.

What image is TV3 creating for the Ghana’s Most Beautiful brand? Is TV3 going to shun any winner of their pageant when the person gets into a problem? Why the rush for another edition of Ghana’s most beautiful when there are issues to be solved?

Ghanaians and viewers of the program, the question on my mind is….Is TV3 looking for another PHONE THIEF? Ghana’s Most Beautiful! Redefining beauty to promote national unity indeed.

  1. i watched Rundown on TV Afriva yesternite and had the opportunity to listen to Nasara’s manager or former manager and heard some quite shocking revelations. according to the guy who happenes to be a Chief in the northern region, Nasara has a 3yr contract with his outfit. he revealed that this theft issue came out last year around november.

he told Yaw Sakyi the host that Nasara used the pfone and after got scared or wht could happen, she then removed the chip frm the fone and threw it away. Miss UK got to knw it was Nasara who did it after her mobile comapny brought her itemised bill. He also said that when the issue broke, nasara was asked and she denied but then one lady from TV3 called and confirmed the issue. According to him, the issue didn’t break cos they did everything possible to kip it on the low but unfortunately someone got a hint of it and decided to investigate and publish, they had no option then than to say wht happened. from this, it’s very clear that TV3 was in the knw from day one and therefore it’s not true that they took a harsh or rush decision.

wht even amazes me is the guys revelation that on the nite of the final,Lamisi was actually leading Nasara, therefore they had to buy all the credit they could find around the National Theatre to vote and secure her the crown. He’s also contemplating takin Nasara to court if she doesn’t come bk to them to continue here contract and complete the projects they have outlined for her.

the decision TV3 took is not different from wht other pageant organisers would take. a Miss something in the US was stripped of her crown when certain images of her appeared on the net. Pageant winners have a responsibility to live above reproach and be role models therefore if they exibit a behaviour which undermines these, then they don’t deserve the crown simple. Nasara did something stupid and she must be punished to serve as a deterrent to others.

  2. Opanin, good and in depth comment by you. Nasara is not doing any good to herself and future by being snobbish , arrogant and unfriendly . This is a bad incident but how she handled it and is still handling it will do her no good. All the same , that could be her personality …her actions will lead to self career destruction ..

  3. Not sure what your problem is.  Theft is perfectly legal in the book of life.  She did the right thing by stealing her co-contestant’s phone.

I bet she was flaunting it in her face so she had no choice but to snatch it.  Stealing is good and if caught lie blatantly.

If your lie is uncovered lie again but this time mix the lie with truth to confuse people more.

I suffer form multiple personality disorder by the way.

    Cheers

  4. Well ,well , if we really believe we are heading for the international platform, no can do to such uncultured behavuour, this is a sear disgrace to Ghana and what makes it worse is she is far from being apologetic. We are fortunate that this was between Ghana and Ghana , if this was between her and another country eg UK or US we would be so so floored as Ghana moves up in the international ladder every step should be well monitored is she a role model for our daughters…..I demand an apology to Ghana and Miss Ghana UK,
