Reverend Father Deferred, Psalm Adjetefio Bemoans Lack Of Movie Roles

blank

Psalm Adjetefio popularly known as T.T from his role in the hilarious Ghanaian TV sitcom, ‘Taxi Driver’ has revealed that he should have been a Reverend Father 30 years ago. According to the veteran actor, he had wanted to be a Reverend Father but had difficulties in comprehending some of the doctrines and so he had to give up.

He became a household name when he featured in ‘Taxi Driver’ alongside Mikki Osei Berko (Master Richard), George Quaye (Aboagye) and others. Recounting how he got into acting, he remembered when he was invited by Emmanuel Appea to star in a movie after a recommendation by a very good friend who saw his ability to interpret characters very well and that landed him that role. He admits that he was paid 50ghc equivalent back then for his role.

According to him, that money could change one’s life at the time but was refused that amount. Emmanuel Appea the producer offered to pay him an equivalent of 30ghc instead of the proposed 50ghc. The producer said that Psalm was not well known even though he had featured in a couple movies at the time. He accepted and shot the movie but after the shoot, the producer was satisfied by the level of performance Psalm put up. Emmanuel Appea personally drove to Psalm’s house to congratulate him for the job and also apologized for the fact that he was cheated considering his performance.

According to Psalm, the producer assured him of bigger payments in their subsequent projects which never came to pass. After this Psalm was offered another job by Emmanuel and that was when he was invited to shoot ‘Taxi Driver’. Speaking on the movie industry, he wasn’t happy about the way some old names in the industry have been neglected by producers. He described the situation as very unfortunate.

He also spoke passionately on the caliber of movies produced currently. He believes that “…morality should be our priority because whatever we leave for the younger generation would be the object of discussion and posterity will judge of all us if we don’t do things well.” Psalm has featured in countless number of movies and can now be seen in the new Socrate Safo movie, ‘Adults Only’. Psalm believes he still has the ability to act and hopes that this new movie would pave the way for other producers to call on him for other roles.

Although he complained that he hasn’t been paid much for featuring in movies, he believes he is happy when people see him and recognize him as one who can put smiles on their face through acting.  He comments, “If a person is under stress or pain and he sees me and laughs, I think by putting smiles on the person’s face itself is medically good and I am happy when things like that happens”.

  1. How can a person go from a Revered father to a role in “adults only” with pornography all over it. This is truly sad, some of these people that call themselves “men of God” will do anything all in the name of making money. THEY FORGET ALL THEIR MORALS, DIGNITY, AND SELF RESPECT JUST SO TO PUT “BREAD IN THEIR MOUTH”. BUT REMEMBER WHAT GOD SAID, “A MAN SHALL NOT LIVE MY BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD”. I mean even a “bola man”(trash man), prostitutes, homeless, murders, drunkards, thieves, etc., can all be pastors these days. Why can’t Adjetiefio go back to being a priest instead of “selling his soul to the devil” by acting in ungodly roles. His role in “adult only” was truly sad to watch for a “man of God”, he was shown having a “doggy-style” sex with a young girl on camera.I don’t know, maybe he is going through some crises in his life, and he might feel like he has no choice but to get fast money. But he shouldn’t be willing to take any role just for money, he should pick them carefully, because MONEY WILL COME AND GO, BUT WHAT WILL NEVER GO AWAY IS YOUR LEGACY. I will advice him to go back to the church as a Reverend father, and believe God to supply all his needs; I know God will surely do it. He just has to be patient because God works in his own time, and sometimes we wish HE can be a little fast with our blessings but he is not Burger King, we can’t have things our way.

  2. What i dont get is that our movie industry tend to neglect the old genuine actors in the system once they see new talents. What i have realsied is that the old great actors like pascaline edwards brew riverson and the like are no longer used in the industry . Look at our counterparts the nigerians. The olu jacobs genenvie, omotala ramsey noah. They have been there for decades and are still in the system and are even paid beter than the so called new artist. but what do we see in ghana, once we see majid, van becomes history , then john dumelo comes and we think he is the best. All the producers rush in for these new ones. Until we begin to honour our old artist and blend them with our new ones we will not get anywhere because the rich experence will be lost and we will have to keep bringing up new talent.

  3. T.T has come a long way. I was quite shocked to see him playing in “Adults Only”…. heck that sounds like he’s already in some porn movie, but that’s just a character.
