When it comes to citizen journalist’s being abused, Ghana has never been a place to record such heinous activities. Journalists, Reporters and Bloggers in Ghana have always enjoyed a peaceful and a calm atmosphere in going about their works.
It’s with a very sad heart that I write about an incident that happened over the weekend in Takoradi between a radio presenter on X-FM Kwame Farkye (Mr. Swift) and a Ghanaian Blogger. The incident took place at the Paragon Nite club in Takoradi.
A lot of times, most folks do confuse Ameyaw Debrah [AD] to Mac-Jordan [MJ] and vice-versa because the two look very much alike and not only that, they are both citizen journalists who are very passionate about blogging and reporting on several social topics.
This mistaken identity happened again when Kat Ghana, one of the female members of the Peer Pressure Group [Kwame Farkye; been the shortest member] saw MJ at the MD Phoenix Club in Takoradi. In the club, a “2131 Radio-Show” was been organized by Melody FM & Jay Foley’s TRAP.
Kat who was a little bit tipsy upon seeing MJ requested for a photo thinking it was AD. MJ also knowing very well about this confusing decided to take a photo of her and the rest of the Peer Pressure Group including Chris Attoh & Kwame Farkye. According to MJ, he was in the company of a few friends and had to leave to Paragon Nite club where Chris Attoh and co promised to be at a later time.
Whiles at Paragon Nite Club, Kat Ghana once again saw MJ and decided to pose for a photo which MJ being a nice gentleman, just took a few shots for his camera. Not quite long, Confidence Haugen – CEO of Aphrodisiac Club & Nadia Buari also joined the table and at this point, security became a bit tight.
According to MJ, Chris Attoh cautioned him that, Kat was a little tipsy and he shouldn’t buy into all of her requests. Around this time, MJ was about to leave when Kwame Farkye shoved and pushed him aside saying, he’s taken a shot of him and Confidence with his camera and therefore MUST delete it.
At this stage, there was complete pandemonium and confusion as MJ, didn’t know which photo Kwame Farkye was talking about. MJ, being shocked decided not to heed to FK’s request and this time, things got a little messy.
Christ Attoh being a gentle-man, decided to go through the photos on the camera and realized, there was NO photo of Kwame Farkye & Confidence taken at any point. Shame was written all over Kwame’s face.
Why would a radio icon misbehave and disgrace himself in a night-club this way? Is he the same person going to sit on radio and be advising the youth against alcoholism? Yikes…
Would you believe, Kwame Farkye called MJ the following day to apologize when his group members were told him about the incident the previous night? He didn’t have any clue about it because, he was drunk beyond recognition.
A piece of advice to Confidence Haugen – CEO of Aphrodisiac; please educate your body-guards to never show a hand-cuff to anybody during such scuffles. Who the HELL are they to have hand-cuffs on them? Where did they get it from, Geez!!
Was Kwame Farkye jealous at the way Kat was all over MJ? Is this the type of fake “celebrities” we want in our Ghanaian society? Going about, getting drunk and abusing people? Are they really worth our time?

Too bad, this happened to MJ. I’m a witness to this incident and I can boldly say, Kwame acted in a very immature way. MJ is a fine gentle-man and meant no harm at all. His friend, Holit who is also a member of that useless peer pressure group can vouch for him. Shame on you, Kwame Farkye. You need to get off the air. You’re a big disgrace to Radio Presenters in Ghana.

I think the part about Kwame being jealous of MJ was a bit necessary.Stick to the story and don’t try to add any underlining meaning.
Erm, what does it mean to say someone is a ‘citizen journalist’? or do you mean a ‘seasoned journalist’? Hmm, this story does not interest me but please, if you are not sure of an expression, ask before you publish your stories. I hope you have editors and proof readers.
