The award which was launched on the 30th of September, 2010 at Alisa Hotel in Accra seeks to award excellence in the movie industry in Ghana. It will as well award best movies, best actors, directors and producers.

Local movie producers and individual owners of eligible movies/films are expected to send in their productions with a copy of printed screen credits to the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) offices in Accra (MUSIGA Hall) and FIPAG offices in Kumasi, in the Cultural Centre premises, formerly Copyright Offices. On Friday, October 29, 2010, at a Hotel to be announced soon, the Nominees Release Party will be held; then voting begins.

The final voting process is relatively similar to the nomination process but the Jury and SNC will have 60% while the general public will have 40% of vote composition through SMS.

In all, 32 golden statuettes known as the MAG (reversed acronym for Ghana Movie Awards) will be presented to deserving personalities on Christmas Day.

    • @mimi,That’s true. Why should it be an golden statue? They could have done a bronze cast of a gorgeous looking Ghanaian woman instead of this. Sow where to vote?

  3. What do u expect…..There is no originality. The reason bollywood is so successful, yet so different from hollywood is because they are true to their culture. How can we get recognition when everything is copied from hollywood. It’s sad but what can we do. These people can’t make a statue from any of our great pioneers of our industry. ghana for u…
