Eighteen-year-old, Stephanie Karikari has been adjudged winner of Miss Ghana 2010 after several weeks of grilling, stiff competition and modeling sessions.
Miss Stephanie Karikari, an indigene of Atwima Nkakom was handed the keys to a brand new Black Hyundai Accent saloon car from Auto Plaza Ltd, a GHC 5,000 annual allowance, a ticket to participate in the Miss World Pageant, an educational scholarship from NIIT and an assortment of products from sponsors of Miss Ghana 2010.
For winning the brand new 18 karat gold plated crown, Stephanie will also be the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) ambassador for Goldfields Ghana Limited to champion the CSR projects, particularly in Maternal Health and Sanitation campaigns for a year.
Jay Ghartey, the new music sensation in Ghana set the stage of Accra International Conference Centre ablaze and from that moment it was destined that it was going to be scintillating event hosted by Kwame Sefa Kayi and Deborah Owusu Bonsu.
The ladies introduced the day as Navy Officers undertaking a routine drill to the pleasure of the crowd who filled every bit of the auditorium.
The ladies then had the strenuous task of impressing the judges with their talents during the talent show. There were pregnant women, vampires, soldiers, Terry Bonchaka’s look alike and even a master drummer. Whilst one delegate decided to break the chains of death to emerge from a coffin, another was busy accusing President Obama of infecting her with HIV.
Eight ladies were later selected for the final stage of the competition, Stephanie Kakari, Michelle Ayonka Esther Gadagbui, Daisy Asare-Akoto, Nana Yaa Adu Gyamfi, Bernice Bekoe, Selma Baba and Frances Nyamekeh made it through to the final stage to face Kwame Sefa Kayi’s simple but thorny question on the role of a woman in the twenty first Century.
At this point it was obvious that some of the ladies were too tensed and allowed the crowed to get into their emotions.
The expectant audience, made up mainly of music lovers, friends, families and supporters of the contestants were treated to good music from some hit songs from Freddie Meiwey.
After an exciting performance and a charged atmosphere it was time to name the young lady who replaces Miss Mimi Areme as Miss Ghana 2010..
Frances Efiba Nyamikeh was adjudged the second runner-up and was given a thirty two inch flat screen TV, a table top fridge, a home theatre, prize money of GHC 500 and other assorted prizes from sponsors.
The first runner-up went to Esther Gadagbui who also took home a forty two flat screen TV, a double door fridge, a GHC1000 prize money and assorted items from sponsors.
Then came the moment to announce the golden being to be crowned the new queen of Ghana, at the Mention of the name, Stephanie Karakari there was mad rush to the stage by fans and lovers to catch a glimpse of her.
There were other performances from Ghana’s fastest rapper Sarkodie who dished out some of his hit songs and heated up the house. There was a performance from Nii of Project fame who rocked the crowd with some good songs. Ezzy also worked her ‘wengeser’ magic on the crowd.

@sandra, That is going to be a long time from now trust me. It’s not going to be anytime soon. The South Americans or Europeans almost always wins… they say skin tone doesn’t matter..not true it does.

@Opanin,Obviously not. She seems not the right choice. The audience thought otherwise and well she somehow came up as the winner. Sometimes I’ve heard some of the contestants pay “in kind” to get a favor here or there.
