I stated on here sometimes ago that Yvonne Nelson will kill her own career and folks thought I was “bishing”. I have always admonished her to get ride of her stinking attitude and deluded mental state.
The Ghana Movie industry and its players are bigger than her and it is official today, Yvonne Nelson is banned from Acting both in Ghana & Nigeria for One Year.
Geez!, i spoke to her 2 days ago and she didn’t tell me she was going to be banned (maybe she didnt know)…On a serious note, I wasted my calling card ringing her in an attempt to discuss her charity and acting progress to help me finish an article I am working on. I will have to scratch the article and wait for a year then.

Peacefmonline.com can authoritatively say that for the first time in Ghana, an actress has been hit with a total movie starring blackout. Sexy Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson has been banned from acting in any Ghanaian or Nigerian-produced movie for a year.
The Gangly Ghallywood actress who is perceived to be arrogant has given movie producers, distributors, and marketers no choice than to use her as a scape goat to initiate their attempt to bring some sanity and respect in the movie industry.
Peacefmonline.com investigations into the matter reveals that Yvonne’s ban is based on accumulation of several alleged incidents of her disrespectful and rude attitude towards fellow actresses, producers and crew members on location and even when off-camera.
Alhaji Abdul Salam Mumuni, C.E.O of Venus Films Productions, who filed the complaint which culminated in the ban being placed on Yvonne, confirmed the issue to peacefmonline. According to Salam, the “Heart of Men” actress has over-step the boundaries of propriety and therefore needs to be brought to order to serve as a deterrent to others.
“She doesn’t respect,” was Alhaji Salam’s curt reply when asked why that severe action against her.
He explained that there have been series of complaints about Yvonne’s insulting behavior and lack of respect on set. The latest incident which broke the camel’s back, occurred some few weeks ago during the shooting of the new movie by Venus Films
Productions titled; “4play Reloaded”.
He narrated that Yvonne Nelson got ‘mad’ on set and hurled invectives at virtually everybody including himself (Abdul Salam) and production manager Roger Quartey, because she was supposed to shoot a scene with Jackie Appiah, but Jackie had absented herself by seeking permission to attend a social event. Jackie was billed to appear as a guest judge at the just ended Miss Malaika 2010 finals which was live on TV. Yvonne therefore refused to shoot the scene alone and even when Jackie was ready, she was still adamant.
“When Yvonne realized that Jackie couldn’t come, Roger called Yvonne and told her that the shooting had been postponed to the next day. But Yvonne furiously stated that if Jackie was absent then she would also not turn up the next day…I decided to go and talk to her myself and all of a sudden she hit the roof and began shouting at me, Roger and everybody who attempted to calm her down,” Salam disclosed.
True to her words, Yvonne failed to appear on set the following day, even though she had been paid fully, thus compelling Venus Films to release the movie without Yvonne in that particular scene.
“That is what she did to me, she doesn’t respect, she feels she is on top, she doesn’t even remember where she came from…When she started (acting) she didn’t even know what close-up shot was and today she feels like she is on top,” the Venus Films CEO fumed.
As a result, Abdul Salam and other producers who have suffered similar fate at the hands of the actress, together with the backing of Film Producers Association, Marketers Association, Distributors Association and other affiliated bodies, have placed a one year ban on her and cut her off completely from starring in any movie, shot or marketed in Ghana and/or Nigeria.
Peacefmonline.com spoke to Roger Quartey who is a member of the Film Producers Association of Ghana, who confirmed the incident adding that Yvonne was abusive towards him on the day of the incident.
“She was disrespectful to me, Abdul Salam and many others. She was rude on location because Jackie failed to come on set. She also decided not to partake in any more shots and truly she didn’t come despite the countless phone calls I placed to her…On the day of the incident when I complained about her rude attitude, she started exchanging words with me, so Salam came in and it turned into something else. That was just below the belt,” Roger stated.
He revealed that they reached a consensus to make the ban official after a meeting held last Tuesday, November 16, 2010.
The ban, which took effect from October 2010, ends on October 2011.
Meanwhile, word has also been sent to Film Producers in Nigeria not to starr Yvonne in any of their productions if they want to market their movies in Ghana since any Nigerian movie that starrs the Ghanaian actress will not be allowed to be marketed in the country.
In a related development, the Public Relations Officer of the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG), Socrate Safo, has also confirmed the ban as true, saying it is one of the many measures that the stakeholders in the movie industry are implementing to restore order and respect for all.
Speaking to peacefmonline in an interview, Socrate disclosed that five different associations including FIPAG, Marketers, Distributors amongst others, will converge at Akosombo on Wednesday, November 24, 2010, for a 2-day consultative meeting to deliberate on serious issues affecting the movie industry, and was confident that Yvonne’s case will crop up.
Efforts by ‘yours truly’ to reach Yvonne Nelson for her reaction proved futile as she ‘refused’ to answer her phone despite repeated calls placed to her.

Well well, Listern Yvonne is not bad. She is very opinionated, she is a strong lady who knows exactly what she wants and gos for it. She speaks her mind and stands for what she believes is right. Very few women in Africa have these good strong femine qualities, that is always percieved in African cultures as being arrogant or disrespectful. One other lady within the Ghollywood and Nollywood industry to posess these strong personality is Gennivieve Nnaji. I don’t blame Jackie , she is a typical African lady who pretends to be submissive holly and humble when in public to gain trust and recognition and i believe Jackie never says no to these people. In short i believe Yvonne will do fine because her personality screams indipendent women. African men should learn to appriciate strong women.

If they think they can use this to cow actors and actresses from demanding too be treated with respect, then the so called industry will fall. They could have found a better way of dealing with this instead of follwing or copying the Nigerians with this Ban issue.

It will be absurd to think that an Actress will be BANNED just based on a single conduct. I guess most commenters do not comprehend the effect or severity of a BAN.
I am aware and reliably informed that the BAN, was as result of a pile of misbehaviour, insults and disrespect Yvonne Nelson has over the years indulged in.
Various warnings and efforts to bring her to realize that her conduct is unaccepted in a growing industry and will not do her any good fell on rocks.
The last straw that broke the camel’s back was the Sallam and Jackie issue. This does not mean that it was solely the reason why she was BANNED. A single utterance like that from her will not warrant a BAN but it was the latest that brought the entire pilled stone falling.
I believe a word of encouragement and admonishment to Yvonne Nelson will be desirable at this stage rather than finding someone to blame or insulting others.
It may sound like NO DEAL for her but one year of ban is not easy. Maybe she can never bounce back again because the show can get tighter with other good Actresses who may come in during her ban.

The unfortunate thing about media practitioners in Ghana is that they think just because they have access to the mass media, people must kow tow to them. I doubt that the numerous reporters who keep bashing Yvonne have ever had a personal encounter with her and can bet that they are reporting on hear-say.
I am a trained journalist with a degree in communication studies and have dealt with most of these untrained paparazzis so I know what I’m talking about.
Some of there so called reporters always approach people in such a confrontational manner for interviews that it’s difficult to be diplomatic when dealing with them. Some have inferiority complex and stand afar to judge because they cannot approach people to speak to them.
If you are confident and present yourself well, people will treat you right.
For those who imposed the ban, did they invite Yvonne to hear her side of stories being bandied around about her? Didi they check the roles of those involved to come to the conclusion that it’s entirely her attitude? I’ve done TV production and know how frustrating it is. People should be careful how they judge. We are no angels ourselves.

The fact that you are a trained journalist does not mean anything much on this subject. You are fully betting on a speculative mindset that, most people who write on Yvonne have had a personal encounter with her. TV productions is frustrating but was she the only Actress or person who was affected by Jackie’s permitted absent? The answer is NO so why the “uncalled for” attitude and insults from her?

I find it quite funny that you seem to have taken everything personally. Whatever your beef with Yvonne is, don’t let it affact your profession. My comments are purely based on my experience as a media person and reports I’ve read on GC.
I don’t think the fact that other actresses didn’t object to Jackie’s absence means Yvonne was wrong to object. In any case, she was to appear in the scene with her.
What I expected to find in your report were:
1. When did Jackie realise she was to be a Judge on another show and couldn’t be on set?
2. When did she inform the producers?
3. Did the producers make Yvonne aware of this in advance?
4. If she wasn’t given advance notice, did they try to at least work out a new filming date that will be suitable to both actresses and the production team?
5. What did their contracts have to say about absenting one’s self from set?
I am not holding brief for Yvonne. I just hope this ban wasn’t imposed in a rush and based on egos and emotions. We need to build the movie industry to be competitive internationally so there is the need to ensure actors and producers act professionally.
I hope all those involved are doing this based on the need to build the industry to an international level and not for personal reasons.
Personally, I find this ban to be totally unnecessary. Individual producers who have experienced her so-called abusive behaviour could have just gone ahead not to engage her services anymore.
