This weekend Viasat 1 movies at 10pm are set to keep you glued to your television. The leading entertainment channel is poised with some of Hollywood’s master pieces for your entertainment.

Starting Thursday night at 10pm, Viasat 1 brings to your screen one of Oscar winning actor and funny man Ben Stiller’s most acclaimed works- NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM.

In this 2006 comedy set in New York, Ben Stiller plays unemployed and divorced Larry Daley who is considered a complete loser. His son Nick is very disappointed in him so Larry accepts the job of night watchman in the Museum of Natural History and takes the place of three old security guards that have just retired in order to raise some money and pay his bills. On his first shift, Larry soon realizes that everything at the museum is not as it seems as the statues begin to come to life after the sun sets.

The Museum transforms into complete chaos with the inexperienced Larry in charge as he learns that an old Egyptian stone that came to the Museum in 1950 brings these statues to life until dawn. When Larry brings his son to spend a night with him, the three old guards break into the Museum to try to steal the magical stone.

Larry organizes all the historic characters to help him stop the criminals and save the museum. This family master piece shows Thursday 27th January 2011 on MOVIES @ 10. Only on Viasat 1.

The following night, Friday 28th January at 10pm Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson stars in DOOM. This Sci-Fi thriller weaves a spell binding tale based on a popular video game, where in the not too distant future, humans have successfully colonized the planet Mars. Here scientists were experimenting on naturally occurring substances and using the colonizing humans as guinea pigs.

The experiment went horribly wrong. Now, a group of marines and a scientist named Samantha Grimm are going to find out what happened. They teleport to Mars via a system known as the “Arch”. What they find are gruesome monsters hell bent on death and destruction. Samantha’s brother John is also one of the marines sent to Mars to help.

And then on blockbuster movie of the week at 9pm Saturday 29th January Viasat 1 will air DEEP IMPACT. This is the story of a teenage astronomer and his teacher who discover an object amongst the stars at night. Little do they know that it’s a comet on a direct collision course for earth.

After the teacher dies in a car crash trying to report his findings the President announces the comet’s existence. He also states that there is no need to panic, because astronauts would be sent to save the situation. Their mission is to destroy the comet before it gets too close to the earth.

When this backfires, the President announces that special caves will have to be built, and the government will have to have a lottery-of-fate to randomly select 800,000 ordinary American citizens to go along with 200,000 scientists, soldiers, and other officials. These 1,000,000 people will be set aside to save the population from extinction when the comet hits.

This weekend’s thrill is climaxed with award winning disaster movie DAY AFTER TOMORROW. A Paleoclimatologist named Jack Hall discovers that a huge ice sheet has been sheared off. But what he did not know is that this event would trigger a massive climate shift that would effect the world population.

Meanwhile, his son, Sam was with friends in New York to attend an event where they discover that it has been raining non-stop for the past 3 weeks, and after a series of weather related disasters that occurred over the world.

Everybody soon realizes that the world is going to enter a new ice age, as the rest of the world population tries to evacuate to the warm climates of the south.

Jack makes a daring attempt to rescue his son and his friends who are stuck in New York, who have to survive not only a massive wave, but freezing cold temperatures that could possibly kill them.
