Blog: Who The Hell Said Nigerian Woman Are The Most Beautiful In Africa?

blank

I was sent a link to a blog this morning,  a blog owned by A Nigerian and to my surprise, there have been a post claiming that Nigerian women have been adjudged the most beautiful in Africa.  I am not sure where this is coming from or who made the research. If any research was made at all, then I swear the researcher skipped Ghana.

Most of the comments under the article supported the above claim. Few of the comments disputed the claim and said Tanzania women are the most beautiful in Africa.

I kept reading the over 50 comments and no one seemed to recognize that the African Queens, the land of beauty, the land where its women are blessed with huge front and backside as well as long hair does exist.  Ghanaian women have it all, my Nigerian friends have always envied my long natural hair, my front and back (my body shape) and above all, my facial appearance. So where is this coming from?

The Ghanaian Movie Industry: Who Is Really Making The Money?

blank

I recently had a conversation with a friend of mine who is an upcoming actor in Ghana.  We got to talking about the Ghanaian movie industry primarily the scripts and actors’ pay.

Well I was awakened by the information I was privy to receiving and although it was not salacious, it was very insightful.  I came away from the conversation with a few thoughts in mind, hence this article.

Who is making the money in the Ghanaian movie industry?  I am the first to admit that I operate on a ‘western’ mentality because by any stretch of imagination that’s all I know.

In all honesty I will say that I was constantly comparing the Ghana movie industry to the American movie industry.  I will tell you why.  The comparison was on the professional approach to contracts, plagiarism, and permissive use of music in films.  I am not in any way addressing the quality of the scripts.

Let me start with permissive use of music in films. The entertainment industry is a huge one, whether in the USA or elsewhere in the world.  The movie industry cannot strive on dialogue alone.

“Grace, I want you to dress appropriate for the upcoming stock broker’s dinner dance because my boss and the entire staff members will be there. Remember, I just got promoted. No embarrassment”

“Grace, my parents are visiting this weekend, can you tidy up the house, especially the kitchen. Since my mother is an obsessive compulsive neat freak”.

“You have a lot of lip stick on, stop talking to these men at your work place, prepare this meal, do the laundry on Thursdays and so on”. Men are always in command, searching for more and always demanding a lot from their women.

“Jimmy, can you pass by the mall after work and get me the Christian louboutine shoes we saw the other day. ” Can you pass me the plate Jimmy”.. Jimmy, please watch the baby whiles I clean up your mess….Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy….do this, do that.

Expectations in relationships can be really high and stressful.

Women do not like submissive men, and men do not like dominant women.

Juliet Ibrahim Attacks Journalists…

Juliet Ibrahim
Juliet Ibrahim

Sometimes I wonder why celebrities get into such situations with the media. They must have people to advise them as to how to deal with issues especially when it comes to media, the backbone of their career. What are those people doing then?

The media is a powerful tool and if they turn on you, it always end in career destruction and yet celebrities over the years keep getting themselves into battles  upon battles with the media.

So often in Ghana, it is the female celebrities beefing all the time with the media. Being a woman myself, I do think they are allowing their emotions to carry them away. Things male celebs will hear or read and walk over it, women will bark and bark hard. Professionalism and career protection must be thought of first, not emotional jump starting all the time.

Juliet Ibrahim is picking up and she is doing great with her career at this point in life. Whiles others like Nadia Buari are finding it difficult to even get movie roles, she is getting  as much needed, even when pregnant, she was still offered one.

Dear GC,

It has been difficult for me to put this down but I have no option than to hide behind the computer to seek advice to a problem which is swallowing my whole personality, my today and my future.

I am a young Ghanaian of 25 years living in the United States currently studying for my master degree. My life is on a good course and I am happy about my achievements so far. My family and friends are proud of me, so is my church.

I have been told on countless occasions that I will make a good husband. My parents’ friends constantly make jovial comments like “You have to marry my daughter; you are one fine and ambitions gentleman”.

New Music Video: Eazzy Feat Richie “One Gal”, Still Lacking Creativity!

Richie & Eazzy
Richie & Eazzy

Eazzy’s “Wengeze” video was a massive flop and suffered serious criticisms from fans and other music lovers, especially GhanaCelebrities.Com readers.

I was expecting her “One Gal” video to come out and make a good impression but Eazzy and her Lynxx Entertainment crew have once again disappointed me.

It is far better than “Wengeze” but lacks the creativity and the catch attention-appeal to make it to any international platform. Who has been directing these videos?

The concept is a borrowed one; maybe the concept is too common or familiar in music videos and movies thereby making me not to see anything new or extraordinary with the video.

Weekly Discussion, Let’s Get Talking: Are You A Technology Freak Or Do You Know One?

blank

If I am asked to define who a technology gadget freak is, I will have problems with simplifying my thoughts into a paragraph or a sentence. This is because; I have a lot on my mind about who qualifies and who does not qualifies to be called a tech gadget freak.  Also this is because; almost all of us are into some sort of tech gadget…

But one thing I know for sure is that, when I meet or see a tech gadget freak, I can easily spot such a person. Every tech gadget freak is aware of his or her obsession, which means they know themselves. Are you one?. A common trace in tech freaks is that, they buy so many gadgets which they do not really need…

Each year, various new technology gadgets pop up the market and existing ones are upgraded or enhanced by tech companies. Most of these gadgets perform the same functions or perform functions we do not really need and yet, we purchase them because of our obsession for tech gadgets…

Recently, I was invited to the flat of a young Ghanaian lady who needed my services in designing an ecommerce web site for her online business. When I got there, she asked “what do you want to use, the home computer, the laptop or the ipad?”.

Director “Leila Djansi” & Turning Point Pictures Issue A Statement On The On-Going Debate About “Ties That Bind & Its Hollywood Image”….

Leila Djansi
Leila Djansi

We have been informed of a certain Kathy bent on discrediting our work. We don’t remember issuing any press release on the movie we are working on.

Any press statement on the film is subjective and does not reflect the views of Turning Point Pictures or its affiliates. We would appreciate it if Miss Kathy (if this is her true identity) will refrain from citing examples with a film that is in development.

There are reputable cast and crew involved in the project because they believe in it, not because of its association to any industry or person. The strength of a story is not derived from its associations, but from its own ability to be original and inspiring.

Hitz Discovery Reality Show Maiden Edition! My Thoughts …

Hitz FM Discovery
Hitz FM Discovery

I thought it was only when someone wins a competition via voting that in most cases the winner’s triumph is doubted since with voting the winner did not necessary have to be good; all the person needs to grab are the votes. However, the judges of the Hitz Discovery have proved that indeed one didn’t need to do or have more to be a winner in a competition such as Hitz Discovery Reality Show.

Over the weekend GhanaCelebrities.com was invited to witness the grand finale of the above named reality show, which came off at the forecourt of His Majesty Hotel, opposite the Ghana International Trade Fair Centre.

The program was scheduled to start at exactly 7:00pm but Ghanaians disregard for time made sure the show started two hours late. When yours truly got to the venue, it was virtually empty at 7pm. So I guess it was a good thing the organizers waited for the tickets buyers to come and by so doing salvaged their investment.

The “Hollywood Film/Movie” Qualification Debate: Let’s Get Real…This Is What A Hollywood Movie Is…

John Dumelo
John Dumelo

Recently came across this article on a Ghanaian website entitled, “Ghanaian Stars In Upcoming Hollywood Movie“, and wrote to Chris-Vincent, my friend, who posted my email (with my permission) to his blog, Ghanacelebrities.com.

Well, the post drew a lot of comments and developed into a debate that honestly I did not expect but really appreciate the interest. I was also notified that there was a debate on the topic on the Ghanaian radio station, Peace FM, which I tuned into their online radio,(honestly I could follow the discussion because of course I don’t speak or understand Twi).

This has led me to go further into the issue and did some research so I could gain and to an extent provide for others, at least those who are interested, some answers. As it is often said, ‘if you want something you must go after it’. That is exactly what I did in this research in my quest to understand what a “Hollywood movie” is according to the “industry”.
