  1. Hmm…this is not to start a fight but to inquire; is this not suppose to be an African movie awards? why do they have a whole category for just one african nation “Best Nigerian movie award” and not one for the other countries like South Africa. If  not, I believe that category needs to be dissolved.

    • I AGREE , BUT I THINK NIGERIA HAS A SPECIAL CATEGORY BECAUSE OF THE SIZE AND POWER NOLLYWOOD HAS. NOLLYWOOD IS THE NUMBER TWO MOVIE INDUSTRY IN THE WORLD AFTER BOLLYWOOD AND EVEN BIGGER THAN HOLLYWOOD. SO I THINK ITS FAIR BECAUSE ITS JUST TO BIG TO IGNORE. NO OTHER COUNTRIES MOVIE INDUSTRY COMES ANY WHERE CLOSE TO NOLLYWOOD. EVEN THOUGH OTHER COUNTRIES PRODUC MORE QUALITY MOVIES.

  2. I AM SO PROUD OF GHANA THIS IS THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW THAT A GHANAIAN FILM HAS LED THE NOMINATIONS. JUST TO SHOW THAT WE ARE MOVING FOWARD NOW ALL THAT IS LEFT IS TO REMOVE THE SOCRATES SAFOS AND REPLACE THEM WITH MORE LEILA’S AND SHIRLEYS

    • Best Nigerian film is endowed by the Nigeria Federal Ministry of Culture. AMAA WELCOMES other government in africa to suppport the development of filmmaking in their countries with such endowment.

  6. Out of the numerous Ghanaian movies they’ve been making noise abt only abt 3 or so got nominations?Dats not gud enough.Even the Nigerians couldn’t dominate dis time cos I can see the other African countries gave them stiff competition. On the best nig. movie category, I learnt they put it der to recognize them largest movie industry (nollywood) in africa & also the fact dat these awards were started by the nigerians but I think it’s time they scrap it 2 make it luk fair.John Dumelo even got nominated in a Naija movie upon all the numerous movies he has been doing in Ghana. The criteria 4 these awards keeps on getting very strict dats why a lot of the popular movies couldn’t get any nominations. However kudos 2 to Leila,Shirley,Yvonne,Ekow,John & Ama 4 making us proud.

    • you know most of our numerous movies are nothing to write home about. Like you always put it chewing gum movies lol.(you said chewing gum movies ryt?) How the hell are those chewing gum movies going to win awards and you know there are a lot of chewing gum movies from our industry than the classic ones. hmm

      Reply
      • Hahahaha.Yeah u know those chewing gum movies are done with only the monetary benefits in mind.Dats why they’re always abt sex & nudity.Maybe I’ve 2 organise some awards 4 them so dat I can distribute it amongst them equally like the one they had recently wer almost everyone had one.Anyway, I hope u’re doing well.

    • A stupid category based on what? Nigeria started and fueled this whole movie industry.

Why shouldn’t she have a category to herself? If Ghana’s industry were as large as

Nollywood, would you not expect the same thing? Why some Ghanaians get VERY

INSECURE when Nigeria is mentioned, I just don’t know. Ghanaians have have made

it obvious to the whole world that they are jealous of Nigerians! That is crystal clear

now. Naija is making waves. Just deal with it. Nigeria didn’t get here by hating and

pulling others down. You want to move ahead, put in the effort!!

      Reply
    • no it is not. it is an endowed category. countries are invited to endow such categories so that the best from their countries are rewarded at that level. i have been following the development of amaa and i know that the country’s federal ministry of informatiom endows that award to recognise the best film from Nigeria entered for that awards. i hope this explains it.
