An impressive ceremony has been held to official outdoor Ghana’s most influential radio personality, Nathaniel Kwabena Adisi a.k.a. Bola Ray, TV3 leading female anchor, Nana Aba Anamoah and Former IBF Welterweight champion, Joshua Clottey as the ambassadors of SOS Children’s Villages Ghana.

The three, with the exception of Joshua Clottey who was not at the ceremony, were presented to the media and stakeholders of SOS Ghana at the unveiling ceremony held at the Grandma Alice Hall of the SOS Village in Tema. Also in attendance were the SOS Tema Village Director, Mr. Isaac Ackon, the SOS Public Relations and Marketing team of Nana Efua Rockson and Efua Hiagbe, Mothers of the Village, some of the children at the village and media personalities.

The presentation was preceded by a scintillating cultural display by children from the SOS village to welcome their new ambassadors.

In the past SOS ambassadors have included such celebrated personalities such as Ghana soccer legends Tony Baffour and Tony Yeboah. Being an SOS Ambassador is rated international as an honour granted to public personalities with impeccable reputations in their various fields and who are viewed as worthy role models for all children in the country.

SOS Village Ambassadors are also trustworthy individuals who must be dedicated to helping the SOS Villages in Ghana and the world over to tackle issues of child abandonment, destitution and the orphaned in collaboration with SOS Children’s Villages Ghana as well as help raise funds to support their work and the upbringing of the Children of the SOS Villages in Ghana.

They will also be advisors to the Communications and Fundraising Department of the institution providing insights from the general public perceptions. Bola Ray, Nana Aba Anamoah and Joshua Clottey are also expected to win a minimum of 50 committed givers for SOS Children’s Villages Ghana.

In his address delivered at the event, SOS Village Board vice president, Mr. Sedufia underscored the importance of ambassadors to the village’s quest to provide a home for the homeless.

He said the three ambassadors are coming on board at a time that SOS Ghana was on the verge of extending their services further to the Ashanti region and two more communities in the Greater Accra region namely: Chorkor and Ashiaman.

Earlier this year, BOLA RAY donated items and cash worth over ghc3000 to the SOS village and pledged to do more together with the BOLA RAY Foundation to better the lives of the children in the village and across the country.

The Drive Time host on Joy FM revealed that the honour was a dream comes true for him, stating that, true to the ambassadorial pledge, he was going to be dedicated to the cause. He admitted that children were vulnerable and they needed the support of all. “We are going to use our networks to raise funds to support the home,” he assured.

Nana Aba Anamoah, herself a single mother of one, professed her love and also expressed her delight at the role bestowed on her, pledging “we will be working together, I will be making more friends for the village…”

As a passionate reader, she said she was going to encourage the children in the Village to read since it was a powerful tool for their personal development.
