Tish’s Corner: Does Ghallywood Have Children Stars… What Happens To All The Children Stars?

blank

There will always be children stars and there will always be those who make the transition to become adult stars. Our own beautiful actress Jackie Appiah started very young, starring in the series “things we do for love” and actor John Dumelo went into acting at an early age.

One important reason for hoisting children into the limelight is to propel the talent and creativity embedded in them.

Many actors/artists we see in Hollywood grew up on screen. Lindsy Lohan, Miley Cyrus, Drew Barrymore, Micheal Jackson, Justin Timberlake and many others. Obviously, Justin Beiber is up next. Most child stars fade away in the blink of an eye; others successfully survive in the industry.

The same could be said of Ghanaian children stars from the 90’s who just fell off the media radar. When we take a trip down memory lane, Grace Omaboe pushed and propelled many kids to stardom with her “”by the fire side” and Fun-world, programs designed for kids. These shows are no longer on TV and these star kids are lost in the spotlight.

blank

We have to be frank with ourselves, we all have those days, weeks or even months when we slide down (feel down). It happens to everyone and most times, we result to external things or materials to motivate us or push us back on our toes.

There are days when I wake up and I do not feel like doing anything. I begin to ask myself so many questions such as; why am I even writing all these articles, is it really worth it, Can I really achieve that goal, am I good enough at what I am doing, Will I succeed in this, Am I doing well in life and all that…

On such days, you begin to doubt your skills, abilities, intelligence, judgement, your appearance, your vision and all that you believe in and hope for. You stop trusting your efforts, your dreams and the fact that you can achieve the success you desire.

Love & Relationship: Why Is It That Every Guy I Date Always Wanna End The Date With Sex?

blank

You can call this one of my rants but I am so pissed that I have to turn to the readers on here especially the female visitors for answers.

After waiting for 3 long weeks for this date, it has turned out like the others. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong or I come across to my dates as a hungry young woman ready for a bang.

This is really not right. Every guy I date always “wanna” end the date with sex. I saw my today’s date as a matured, gentle and religious. At least that is how he came across on the phone and presented himself through his talks.

Am I giving some signals to indicate that all I want is some quick night one or am I just meeting guys who are solely looking for some thing in a skirt to eat?

As usual, my date Steve (I do not intend to see him again so that is his real name) kept pestering me with “do you want us to go to my place after our dinner or do you want us to spend the night at your end?”

GC Life 101: The Untold Story Of Atta Ayi “The Notorious Armed Robber”…

blank

Atta Ayi, my brother was not always the most feared crime lord. He may be incarcerated in the Nsawam Prisons but I will always remember my elder brother differently.

The first time I met my brother was an August night at Kotoka International Airport when my mum and I came to Ghana to perform traditional marriage rites that my father had been refusing since he married her in Madrid, Spain.

There stood, the very image of my father at the exit, my mum was first to smile while I just stared thinking surely this is my father not my brother. Like a magnet we were inseparable, my elder brother and me. He took time to teach me about life in Ghana, making friends.

The more I got to know Atta, the more I began to understand how wrong my father was in his refusal to return to Ghana. As we roamed the shores of Ghana, skidded the bricks of greater Accra, Kumasi and Takoradi, I began to see bits and pieces of his life.

In Kumasi, we ate at Joffel then we visited a condo of his in Offinso. The people residing in the condo were teens about my age but that was according to my western eyes, these were entrepreneurs preparing their batch of FanMilk, FanChoco and Yoghurt for sale in town.

My brother told them something in a language I had yet to understand and they all greeted me jovially. I told Atta that I would like to hang out with them but he was fiercely against it citing that the townsfolk might think ill of it.

Atta was funding the business of these friends; he did the same for a group in the two other cities he took me to. I could sense certain anger in his demeanor at his apartment in Takoradi, whilst there he showed me half burned pictures of his school boy days and also of his deceased twin.

Love & Relationship: I Am Secretly Seeing My Best Friend’s Dad After His Wife Cheated & Ran Away, Now He Wants Us To Move Away To Stay Together…I Need Advice!

blank

Dear GC,

I’ve put myself in a compromising situation which has an easy answer if I use my head and not my heart. I’ve known my best friend since we met at college and have met her family several times. Even when we went to different universities we remained close.

I’ve spent countless nights over the years at her family’s house and get on well with her parents. I always thought her folks were the perfect couple. I’m from a single parent home so I always felt a bit envious that she has younger hip and trendy parents.

After University my friend told me her parents split. I was very shocked when I heard her mum had cheated on her Dad and she basically fled the country with her Dad’s best friend.

Fashion & Lifestyle: Urban Fashion Influences In Ghana, The Past & Today!

blank

As hip-hop music gained recognition among the Ghanaian youth so did urban or hip-hop fashion in the early 90’s. Reebok, Karl Kani, Timberland, Kangol, Tommy Hilfiger were some of the foreign brands that were in vogue.

Subsequently, along the way we developed our own hip-hop brand calling it hip life. In response to this trend, our young talented designers rose to the occasion and created urban clothing and accessory brands influenced by the hip-hop culture for the youthful Ghanaian consumer.

A Move From Foreign To Local Brands

The same desire to express oneself using our culture that created hip life paved the way for the young consumer to accept local urban fashion brands.
