Dear GC,

About six months ago I decided on a complete career change and I’m now faced with deciding whether sleeping to get a promotion with my boss would be a good or bad move. My boys are all say go for it. I need a second opinion.

I worked in the health field for three years and in the past year I’ve really hated it.  I realised I really couldn’t see myself in the same job anymore.

Fashion & Lifestyle: Emily Ayele Croxford’s Native Belle Boutique In Focus

Naa Navy Blue
Naa Navy Blue

Ghanaians are known for their family love and the colorfully clothings that Ghanaian children rock. Whether you are a mother or father presently or plan to be in the future, please make plans to check out Emily Croxford’s Native Belle Boutique.

This designer and founder of this extraordinary tots line is a Ghanaian and a graduate of London College of Fashion. Her desire to see the self esteem of children develop makes me appreciate her Afrocentric fabrics in western style fashions for tots and tweens alike.

I remember having this debate of how the world became westernized by way of other people’s cultural artifacts. Nearly all modern influences that we come to view as part of daily living had its genesis during a century in a location that is not in the west.

The food noodles can be traced not to Italy but to Han people of China. Crepes and Pancakes, a breakfast delicacy, is culturally Ethiopia’s Habesha people food staple. Eyeliner is culturally an Egyptian fashion accessory and consider the fact that each nation has its own money, well this is culturally attributed to China.

Dad Tells Michael Essien: Drop My Name!

Michael Essien
Michael Essien

For some weird reasons, I thought by now Essien would have sorted out the problem between himself and his Dad. The whole drama is up again with the Dad calling for Essien to drop his name.

To some extent, I think the Dad has a point, after all if you claim I was not there for you when you needed me and for that matter, you would not take care of me at my old age, why are you still using my name then?

On the other hand, what is a name anyway? He can easily change it and the father will continue to be in his bad condition which he is seeking to improve. What do you guys think?

Anyway, read below for more…

Readers’ Mail: Why Is Nadia Buari’s “Camp” Hating On Jackie Appiah So Much To The Extent Of Making A Video To Ridicule Her + Do You Want To Know Who Made The Song?

Jackie Appiah & Nadia Buari
Jackie Appiah & Nadia Buari

I am certain some of the readers on GhanaCelebrities.Com and fans of Nadia Buari who for some absurd reasons better known to them, making it difficult for them to accept the truth and constructively criticise their icon would jump up to bash me on this.

I will not however be intimidated and will continually say the truth and put out there my findings.

I am well informed of an existing tension between Nadia Buari and Jackie Appiah which was spiced up by an unnecessary outburst from the camp of the former during their visit to Nigeria for the African Movie Academy Awards.

I am not writing this piece to dig into what has been the cause of this tension and hatred between these two movie Actresses. What I am here to do is to bring to light, who is peddling the hatred and throwing more ginger into the soup.

blank

The 2011 edition of the ZAFAA has began in earnest with the organizers calling on movie producers to submit their movies to be considered into this year’s awards slated for October 20th to 22nd.

In a press conference in Accra to launch the awards in Ghana, the CEO of the awards Sam Anwuzia in his speech called on African movie makers to collaborate more to churn out better movies which will go a long way to help promote African movies. He said: “Even Bollywood, the Indian movie industry recognizes this fact today as most movies from their stable have Hollywood collaborations.”

He also talked about the failure of the African Movie Industry, which according to him is our inability to tap into the wealth of resources and opportunities at our disposal.

“There is one school of thought that our failure in the movie industry in Africa is largely due to our inability and in some case blatant refusal to tap into the wealth of resources and opportunities at our disposal. The underlying reason behind the foregoing is the increasing popularity of African movies in the world today”.

Tish’s Corner: Does Ghallywood Have Children Stars… What Happens To All The Children Stars?

blank

There will always be children stars and there will always be those who make the transition to become adult stars. Our own beautiful actress Jackie Appiah started very young, starring in the series “things we do for love” and actor John Dumelo went into acting at an early age.

One important reason for hoisting children into the limelight is to propel the talent and creativity embedded in them.

Many actors/artists we see in Hollywood grew up on screen. Lindsy Lohan, Miley Cyrus, Drew Barrymore, Micheal Jackson, Justin Timberlake and many others. Obviously, Justin Beiber is up next. Most child stars fade away in the blink of an eye; others successfully survive in the industry.

The same could be said of Ghanaian children stars from the 90’s who just fell off the media radar. When we take a trip down memory lane, Grace Omaboe pushed and propelled many kids to stardom with her “”by the fire side” and Fun-world, programs designed for kids. These shows are no longer on TV and these star kids are lost in the spotlight.
