As we wait to get a full gist from GhanaCelebrities.Com’s rep who was yesternight at the Accra International Conference Centre for the 12th edition of MTN Ghana Music Awards, below is the list of winners gathered…

1. Best Reggae Recording of the Year: Iwan

2. Gospel Song of the year: Cecilia Marfo

3. Highlife Song of the year: Kwabena Kwabena with ‘Dadeanoma’

4. Best Hiplife song of the year: Castro feat Asamoah Gyan with ‘African Girls’

5. Hip-hop song of the year: D’black with ‘Get on the dancefloor’

6. Afro pop song of the year: ‘Kiss your hand’ by R2bees.

7. MUSIGHA Merit Award: Emeritus Prof J.H Nketia

8. Traditional Artist of the year: Mustapha Addy

9. Instrumentalist of the year: Emmanuel Koomson

10. Best Collaboration: Castro Feat Asamoah Gyan with ‘African Girls’
11. Songwriter of the Year: Pastor Boamah

12. Best music for Development: Reggy Zippy with GHC 3000. All the other nominees took home GHC 300. Abraham Ohene-Gyan of OM Studios took home GHC 5000

13. Gospel artiste of the year: No tribe

14. Highlife artiste of the year: Kwabena Kwabena.

15. Rapper of year: Trigmatic

16. Record of the Year: Sammy B

17. Male Vocal Performance: Knii Lantey

18. Female Vocal Performance: Efya

19. Most Popular Song: Aha ye De by Nana Boro

20. Album of the year: Samini with CEO

21. Discovery of the Year: Herty Borngreat

  1. this particular GMA was such a drab….lacklustre, performances, no creativity, unimaginative stage design…i mean nothin worked 4 me ds yr as compared to last yrs

    • I am not surprise at all that Cecilia Marfo did not take it…I doubt how many of the gospel music lovers voted…You know the “WIASE FO” as they call them (us) will vote in numbers while the madam Theresahs will not be much bothered …

      • Boss you have a point, but is not on the issue of votes alone when it comes to branding i am expert in that and i knew Cecilia will not get just because his song is religious and no brand will like to go that way.Every brand looks out for something everybody can associate with, with regardless of their religion.They always do their statistics to know the number of people the artist can pull to the BRAND as a result of performance, the target audience of the artist etc .
        THIS AWARDS WAS FOR CECILIA THE WHOLE WORLD KNOWS THAT !!!

  8. I heard the performances were dry. “CREATIVITY” we lack it but it’s one of the most important things we need in our music industry. congrats to the winners thou.

    • V.I.P Paa winning this artiste of the year is soo dumb and mind y’all im not hating on them but seriously they suck big time these days. The whole gma 2011 was just a mess. I didnt feel it at all. The organizers need to pay back the money to the audience.. mcteww!

  12. I think Charter House alongside MUSIGA should wake up and do more extra work. This year award festival is de worse of all. does who don’t deserve de nite were given de credit, why should this happen. just imagine VIP,taking home the Artiste of de year.. GMA is far behind. Sit up Organisers, and bring oout de very best next year.

  13. I didn’t like this year’s gma. Poor planin’ though n where’s Sarkodie? There should be mixtape king of the year. Nothing better. Intead of Vip I will work out to take that award next time. Anyway BBRAAAaHHHH!
