A Lil Positivity Out There : Get That Money, Banned Ghanaian Actress ‘Yvonne Nelson’ Launches Lace Wig Hair Collection & Unleashes Promo Pics

Banned Ghanian Actress Yvonne Nelson isn’t letting her ban (which according to an interview with nigeriafilms.com she isn’t aware of) slow her down…the enterprising young lady is chasing mogul status by launching her very own Lace Wig (Hair) Line.

Hmmm…Lace Wigs are a mess. Except you have a hair stylist on standby 24/7 they never look cute! 9 times out of 10 when I’ve seen them on regular females it looks MAD obvious they’ve got hair glued to their hairline.

On the promo poster for Yvonne’s hairline it says the hair is 100% human hair…translation some righteous souls in India have shaved off all their hair and donated them to temple or worse gotten kidnapped & had the hair off their heads stolen!

I watched an interview a while back which focused on the dark side of sourcing human hair in India, a lot of young women in rural areas are now being kidnapped for their hair…

In addition to the hair venture Yvonne has also released a new set of promotional images. Her ban is over sometime this year so I’m guessing she’s readying herself to return to the career that made her a household name in Ghana with a bang.

I think Yvonne is a hot chick and she looks super fab in these photos. I believe I just may have gone against GC policy of calling her confused all the time…I hope I still have a job after this…LOL

So ladies (and some guys 😉 will you be patronising Yvonne’s wig line?

    • yea I agree…am not a huge fan of Yvonne to be honest but you know what give credit where it is due and I like her business sense…don’t put your eggs in one basket and all that. Best of luck to her. Not a lace weave fan unless I can get Beyonce’s hair stylist to do mine! 😉

  2. oh come on you guys enough of that “Banned Ghanaian Actress” the world knows by now that she is banned period do we have to read that on every topic you post about her this is getting boring now seriously

well its a good movement and good investment for her as well she got something to fall back on i mean the thing with lace wig is that
as long as you store your wig on a mannequin or wig stand it will maintain his shape as long as you don’t swim or sweat in 24 hours after putting it on than you should be able to do your day to day things with it than

as long as you don’t use clue on your hair than

  5. that 1960 chick??? more of that less of this. you never know who is admiring you hun, sometimes you dont need to have a service or product for the mass market, your wittiness and thought provoking write ups will earn you accolades.

simply put, you are suggesting lace wigs are daft and a mess, if you dont find it as such, the morals behind it will do the trick….they are obtained by kidnapping poor people in some village is goa, where they all walk bald. I find such negativity worrying. Instead of encouraging one another, we take delight in seeing one fail. you simply insinuating to people not to buy!!

If it was meant to be funny, it clearly aint.

    • Dagodfather I am just sayg lace wigs r a mess cos most of the chicks I see rocking it…look like they obviously have a wig on. It’s diff when people like Yvonne rock it for shoots cos they cover the hairline with makeup and any rough edges can be taken out. The mark of a good weave/wig is that people shouldn’t be able  tell u have extensions on.
As for the Indian hair thing and kidnaping that is by no means a criticism of YN. I was only highlighting the extreme lengths people in India will go to make these products (human hair) available to people. Why would i criticise indian hair when i use it myself.
I actually like YN, and I commend the fact she’s branching out and branding herself.

      • you are insinuating people should not buy her product, end of. I wonder why with all the facts you have about the ills that go into making human hair in india, you use it yourself.  this is calculated sabotage and you can do miles better.

        Reply
        • Sabotage for what? What do I have to gain by sabotaging her? I don’t know the chick personally…Where in all that did I say people shouldn’t buy her products.
It is my decision to use human hair…Indian, Brazillian or otherwise…as it should be others. Why would I try to influence people to use/not use human hair? Dude you need to chill…Everyone knows that 100% human hair from india is mostly temple hair…donated by people as thanksgiving or sacrifice. That said there is also a more sinister side to the human hair trade, where women are kidnapped. Based on that a lot of retailers will advertise their human hair as temple hair…for people who have concerns about buying the “stolen” hair.
You are tearing me down because I stated a fact…these things happen. It is not a personal attack on YN. Dude u need to chill…

  6. She’s about the only one who understands celebrity. It’s more than just going to ‘red carpet’ events and acting in ‘bad movies’. She has her charity going on and now she is lauching her business. Kudos. Who’s confused???

  7. whether it is from Kidnapped Indians or not. This wig is fine and will surely get one. Most clothes are made by kids but ppl still buy them, don´t they? So wat the heck! Yvonne well done.

  8. I think she needs to invest in something else because those wigs look ATROCIOUS! The last picture though is very nice. I will be more inclined to get those braids than those 2 horrendous wigs.

  10. that1960 chick the only person who needs to chill here is you. you may need to read your post again and explain to me what you are really trying to put across. you are telling people basically why they shouldn’t buy her wigs….messy, daft, stolen. you dont need to state categorically they shouldn’t buy. you are insinuating it and your post wasn’t in french or swahili, I read and understand it perfectly well, so did the many people tired of this negativity.

im not tearing you down, why would I? I appreciate young entrepreneurs, bloggers, young businessmen and go-getters.  you are trying to tear the star down, not that it seems to have any effect on her, but its gone on far too long and getting pretty boring now.  U NEED TO CHILL!!

      • u need to chill again no one is arguing with you here. you post a write up, and you expect “interest” and comments, i made mine and you replied which is your prerogative. that aint arguing. promoting african designers duro olowu, times most influencial africans and the sort im all for, but not this. again my opinion…

  11. Why oh why do some black women wear these wigs? They are horrible and it seems to make these women go bald at the edges of their hair. Take proper care of your own hair and it can actually grow whether its permed or natural…Good for Ms. Nelson though because people will be buying them.

  12. Ehh Miyagi, am I sometimes get surprised when I read some of ur comments. How did u know about the maintenance of lace wig?

@adjoa nbaaso, gehehehhe loool I got two sisters and they used lace wig sometimes and I end up buying it for them

    • Massa, are you sure it was for your sisters? lol. met a guy once in la senza, and without asking a word, he said he was shopping for the kid sis. strange cos his kid sis was only bout 11 at the time.

    • @ Miyagi…rah we ladies on here could do with a brother like that lol but am really not feelin’ these lace weaves at all. Anyway Yvonne can branch into area of hair and beauty coz lace weaves (the quality ones)  are TOO pricey. Hmmm Miyagi don’t let us turn you into one of the girls talkin about weaves and things lol

  13. I enjoy watching Yvonne in movies. She is a great actress. As far as the lace wigs. You can tell when women are wearing them in african movies and it does not look good at all. You are not supposed to tell you have a wig on or weave when you are wearing it. For instance Beyonce, Tyra Banks, Meagan Goode, Ashanti, and so many other actresses even Caucasian celebrities. They really should work on that, although African women are still beautiful.

  14. I noticed that too. Im sure these celebrities in africa can afford to take care of their hair and wear better weaves and wigs. Make up needs sum work too.
