According to the report below, Mzbel has denied battering a police officer but she is rather saying, her Driver and PA were victims of an assault…
Who do we believe now? I wanted to place a call to Mzbel but if indeed she was locked up all weekend, she may want to sleep comfortably today so I will probably call her in the course of the week to find out more…
The reports are confusing as the writers are using Assault when it is meant to be Battery and Battery when they are meant to say Assault…LOL…I can’t get what they are really saying since Assault and Battery are two different things in UK Law…
Unless they mean the same in Ghana. If there was a pull and a knock down by car and all that, then surely it should be Battery not Assault.
Assault in Law is intentionally or recklessly causing another to apprehend the application of imminent unlawful force. Battery on the other hand is when a person intentionally or recklessly touch or apply to another unlawfully…
So with the above in mind, even if Mzbel screamed or acted in a way that the police officer honestly thought she was going to apply force such as punch him or pull him, then she assaulted the officer…

Hiplife artiste, Mzbel has denied media reports that she assaulted a police officer, Sunday. Several newspaper publications Monday morning alleged that Mzbel attacked the uniformed police officer, accusing him of crossing the path of her moving vehicle.
The musician and two others were reported to have deliberately run their Mitsubishi 4×4 vehicle with registration number GR 9470-11 into the policeman who fell on the bonnet of the vehicle. They then sped off and drove for a distance, with the policeman still hooked dangerously on the bonnet while eyewitnesses screamed at the horror of what was happening.
Their vehicle was eventually forced to stop when it was crossed by a private security van. Police sources said when Mzbel got out of the Mitsubishi, she started yelling at the cop, claiming he had no right to cross their way. The musician got more physical and held the uniformed policeman by the neck in an attempt to strangle him while pushing a clenched fist in his face but onlookers rushed to the rescue of the policeman.
Reports said when Mzbel realized she had fallen foul of the law, she started wailing, claiming to have been assaulted by the policeman instead, reports the News One newspaper.
But the musician, known in private life as Nana Akua Amoah, denies this.
She told Joy News her personal assistant was sitting in the driver’s seat after the driver had got out to pick something and the police appeared asking for the driver’s license – thinking the person sitting in the seat was the driver.
“I told them that he was not the driver and the driver came in, provided his license and the other policeman instructed us to go. As soon we moved the car the other one dived on the bonnet of the car so we stopped. I rolled down [my glass] to ask him why he did that and he grabbed my driver’s suit struggling with him,” she explained.
She accused the police of assaulting her personal assistant and her driver. Mzbel also told Joy News the police acted in an unusual manner – jubilating and rejoicing the mistreatment meted to her, her driver and PA – and later rushed to the media to tell lies.
I’ve heard there is a video of the whole incident that was shown on tv3. Would be nice to see that video to know for sure.

No one knows who’s telling the truth but this might be ridiculous if they jail her ‘cos even murderers are grant on bails .
@jeff,True. Just to teach her a lesson by jailing her or sending her to prison would be ridiculous. I know of rapists and child molesters walking free on the streets of GH today all because the matters were “settled at home”.

@Opanin, To jail her of course would be ok. But to the extent of putting her away for 10 months to a year would be ridiculous. Where is the major public outcry when young girls are molested/raped or impregnated by (some) MPs or famous people.. this is a misdemeanor.

There is sth fishy abt Mzbel story. I´m not saying she is lying cos I wasn´t there myself. But come to think of it, why would da PA sits on da driver´s seat wen he is not da one driving. Even if she is telling the truth, it is always hard to win a case over a civil servant.
@Afia,thats very true.if the driver drops for any reason,why will the PA assume the role of a driver??? dis is mostly done when u’re parked in a no parkin spot……anoda thing i find amusing is why the police will jubilate afte “assaulting” Mzbels PA and driver???? will the police even jubilate if the arrest a former president, how much more MzBel?????anyways we live to see……………

Mzbel, I can’t believe you are so useless you cannot tell an ‘intelligent’ lie. Why should someone move into a driver’s seat when the driver gets out?
I believe you made up this story because because your so called driver was not the ‘driver’ when the incident happened This girl kept on talking about ‘driver’ Well i think she didn’t not mean the one who drove her car but one that ride her as’ i smell publicity stunt somewhere

if Mzbel, who would not weigh passed a bucket of water, could hold n strangled a well trained physically-fit police officer, then l think there’s a big problem with our police service. Are we therefore safe from the crazy-wild well-built gun-weilding ROBBERS?. PLS cut that crap and leave de girl alone.
