Out Of Box Story: Nigerian Model ‘Shonola Smith’ & Sister Jailed For Theft During Recent Croydon Riot

It is sad to see young Africans especially women getting themselves into silly things which have the tendency to ruin their lives and future…

A 22 year old pretty Nigerian Model-Shonola Smith has found herself at the wrong side of the law and has been sentenced to 6 months for looting an Argos Store during the Croydon Riot.

Shon0la was arrested with her sister-Alicia Smith and their 22-year-old friend ‘Donness Bissessar’ when police invaded the building on Monday night.

And guess what? When Alicia was arrested by the police she was carrying ten packs of chewing gum that she had earlier stolen from a nearby Kwik Stop convenience store . She admitted theft…CHEWING GUM? What a foolish thief!

Whatever pushes certain Africans to get involve in such things is beyond my thinking…Now, you go do your MODELLING for prison… Nonsense!

Authorities in Britain are holding at least three men with Ghanaian sounding names in connection with the ongoing troubles in the country.

They are Nana Asante, 19, James Antwi, David Attoh, both 18, and Ohene Bamfo, 20. James Antwi has been charged with assaulting a police officer, damaging a police car and violent disorder.

Matthew Golby, prosecuting, told Camberwell Green Magistrates Court that Antwi was part of a group of men on bicycles that surrounded a police car in Horseford Road, Brixton.

Mr Golby said: “He arrived at the police vehicle on his bicycle and used his pedal to smash against the car.

“The defendant went to the driver’s side and attempted to pull open the door of the vehicle.

“He was wearing a distinctive white top and police have been able to trace him as he headed up Brixton Hill.”

Antwi, of Stockwell, South London, who is in his third year of a Sports and Leisure qualification at Clapham College, did not enter a plea.

District Judge Tanweer Ikram denied an application for bail. He was remanded in custody to reappear on August 17.

20 year old Ohene Bamfo was hauled before a Croydon Magistrate Court Westnesday on charges of theft and rioting.

He appeared in court along with a long line of defendants in the dock, answering charges of robbery, theft and violent disorder relating to Monday night.

Bamfo pleaded not guilty to two counts of robbery, theft from a person and violent disorder.

IT student Attoh, of Hackney, who had just completed a BTEC at Hackney Community College and is due to start an apprenticeship, pleaded guilty to theft.

He was caught with Burberry T-shirts but magistrates let him off because he had already served two days in custody and warned him not to get into trouble again.

Nana Asante, 19, who recently started work as a steward at an outdoor opera venue in the upmarket London district of Holland Park, reportedly pleaded not guilty to looting a supermarket in the capital.

Authorities say more than a thousand people have been arrested in connection with the troubles on the streets of England.

It is suspected that more Ghanaians are involved in the riots; most of the arrested rioters are from the black community.

    • @BOY,I totally agree with you Chris peace of advice change the title because she is not a Nigerian I don’t know where you got that from in the first place unless your trying to start a riot here as well

      • How do you know she is not a Nigerian? Have you googled her to find out how many websites are referring to her as a Nigerian? The article is not about her nationality, it is therefore less relevant even if she is a Nigerian or NOT, my emphasis is on young Africans…Not young Nigerians…

If she was from Gambia or if the info I got before writing this said she was from Gambia, I would have written the same piece…I wrote about it becos mainstream media and other blogs I find interesting have highlighted on her story…

You guys have to start looking beyond people’s nationality and comment on social issues without placing much emphasis on where the person comes from in particular…

          • I don’t know why thousands of Nigerian blogs out there are stating she is a Nigerian (one of their own) and no one is disputing that…Becos the same story appeared on a Ghanaian blog, her nationality has come to be the main issue…

I got that from the few Nigerian blogs I trust and read…I will rather go with what they say than the SUN..After all, if a Nigerian says she is a Nigerian, it must be believed than someone sitting somewhere.

Just google, Nigerian Shonola Smith and you find out the countless Nigerian blogs carrying the story.

          • @Posted By: Chris-Vincent Agyapong Febiri, chris a fraudster is using my name to comments ,i am sure he is a nigerian as usual ..thank you

  9. This is what I hate about Nigerians, if this girl had won millions, they will be here claiming she is a NIGERIAN, now she has done something bad, instead of condemning what she has done, you are rather here claiming she is not a NIGERIAN. When it is good, it is for Nigerians, when it bad, it is not. SIlly

Well if that’s what they claiming than I guess I got nothing to say and rest my case than the voice claim she is a caribbean Nigerian blogs claim she is a Nigerian so yeah it’s a but strange but at least you could have add those four ghanaian boys who looted as well into your blog

    • @Miyagi,I think you are getting it wrong. This girl is making news not becos she is a NIGERIAN but becos she is said to have a talent and work (MODEL) but still joined in the looting…

She is in the various papers or on the various blogs becos of the above fact and also becos her sister is reported to have stolen CHEWING GUMS.

      • @Posted By: Chris-Vincent Agyapong Febiri, I agree with you because she is a model and is making the headlines but what about the millionaires daughter who looted as well teacher and some people working for. Some top company’s and have been busted all these people are whites but made the headlines yet there weren’t exposed like the way this girl is being exposed people went for bigger things like ipad, iphones lcd screens desinger clothes blackberry phones and tablets etc I don’t buy the story that one of them just went their to join just to steel chewing gum my question is some news paper didn’t even mention she is nigerian some are even saying that she is from the caribbean so how did you guys come to conclusion that she is a nigerian

  11. i have nothing to loose either way,but to be honest,i admire your fairness miyagi.chris ,you are not straight on this one no matter what it is you mean.comming to this site has made me to really try to find out more  about nigerians.and one thing i really  admire about them is that they do not hide their wrong .hate them as much as you like, but from what i see ,it does not give them sleepless night.though i can well admitt that they have their own ,good ,bad and ugly., just like other p-p   what i understand about hate is that,is he who hates that suffers more  than the one being hated.

  14. The news regarding shonola smith, sister and friend is not true for two reasons:
    1. I personally know her because we work for the same organisation before she resigned 3 months ago.
    2. She personally told me that she was JAMAICAN
So please retract the message that you have published.

    Yours truly,

  16. We need an explanation to tagging the girl “Nigerian”. She might be but you guys do not really understand the consequence of what you are doing…. the fact that a black person is involved in something bad should be a shame to the black race..wake up Ghana! Did you see the latest…the UBS trader?? he is from Ghana and nobody is happy about it..What Shonola did was just one of youthful exuberances! could have been any exposed young person..common..withdraw the CAPTION!
