Geez! Most of us have facebook apps on our Blackberry phones, Iphones, Android Phones and others…What you do not probably know is that, all your phone contact numbers can be found on facebook now… They have stolen them all.
Your friends can all see your phone numbers…It is not much of a problem if indeed all the people we add are our true friends. I just checked mine and all the celebrities I have their phone numbers were on BLAST on my facebook account…Gosh!
Imagine you have added over 4500 people as friends (you do not really know these people in real life )…All these people can now see your actual phone number as long as you use your phone via a facebook app to access your account once a while.
If you have any of the celebrities added as your friend, check it out, you can find their REAL phone numbers on there (that is if they use smart phones with fb apps)…This is some serious SHYT!
You wanna check it out…
Login your Facebook . Go to the top right of the screen, click on ACCOUNT and then click on EDIT FRIENDS, Look at the left side of screen and click CONTACTS.
You will see all phone numbers from your phone (either FB friends or not)…. All the phone numbers stored in your mobile phone is published out there.
Now, remove them QUICK QUICK before you are doomed…TO REMOVE, go to right column, click on “this page.” Please tell your friends and show them how to remove their numbers too so we can prevent abuse!
Damn…facebook oo, will never cease to amaze me. Well security with FB has always been questionable. So what, was this some kind of blip?
doesnt dis jus mean its onli those who have my number on phone who will have my real number in contacts???? all others wil jus see de number ive supplied on facebook
They see your real phone number ( the sim card in the phone in which you using the facebook app on)…This is the only way I can think my numbers got there since I did not enter the phone number column when I signed up on fb
@Posted By: Chris-Vincent Agyapong Febiri,chris you got it wrong the only reason why you see those numbers is because some people sync their phone with facebook book the numbers that your seeing there are numbers from your main mobile phone contact list now days if your using smart phone and you login into facebook with your smart phone than your main number will automatically sync with your details on your facebook, facebook have been teamed up with allot of mobile network to do this so you cant really blamed them
@Miyagi,That is where my problem is exactly..If it AUTOMATICALLY syn all your contacts just becos you use your smartphone to access fb, then we must be scared. That is stealing you do not give it the permission to syn, it automatically does it…That is not a good thing at all.

Calls from strangers calling me that’s where I spotted that my number and other people’s numbers where sync to FB without my authorisation

There was a security update sometime back where you are required to file in a phone number so that should you forget your password it will help in reactivating your account through your phone number. I remember doing so and being the cautious type i went further to check what else there was to it…i have come across the contacts bit and upon cross checking i realized, not all the numbers where correct especially that of my friends in Ghana due to the code which preceded most of my pals numbers . As to how everyone filled theirs am not sure…then again the security levels on facebook allows u to either get your number shown or not…or yet attached to your profile…
Facebook made it an option to use this security level to prevent unauthorized access to your account by sending you a security code whenever your account is accessed from an unknown system or computer…You can disable this by simply going to Account > Account Setting > Mobile and deactivate your number….Better still take time to go through your privacy settings and take charge of what level of access you want people to have with your personal info.
I wonder if you are aware that tagging yourself or being tagged in a photo allows anyone access to your photos( especially those without adequate security levels).
Facebook is helpful in its own right but comes with its own issues…
I don’t think this is some kind of spontaneous security breach on the part of Facebook. It only happens if you sync your phone’s contacts with your facebook app.
No…that is not true because I have never syn my phone contacts with any facebook app, yet all my contacts are up there…Who will even wanna syn all his phone contacts with a facebook app? what for?

WTF! I haven’t even got the FB app on my phone but my numbers are on there! I’m sure this is illegal. FB have crossed the line big time with this one.

Facebook only has the phone numbers of those who post their phone numbers no their profiles. And also if your privacy setting is set to ‘everyone’, then everyone can see your phone number

Not only are the numbers private ,even the photos u deleted are still on face book,me i found them last month after all i deleted them a year ago ,i hate facebook.
Wow. This is so true! I neva added my no bt itz rite there. Facebook even sent me a msg that sum1 wants to add me as a friend on my MTN line. This is crazy!

I do not know where you can see anybody’s email addy on this site except the ones we have intentionally put up…So I am not sure where you getting that wrong. We do not show the email addresses of commenters.
Surely no website is 100% safe but we strive to protect this site as best as possible. Also, my post is not about the info people voluntary give out on websites such as you entering your E-mail, it is about facebook automatically picking my phone numbers. If I entered the phone numbers myself, then I will have no reason to complain.
