I have realized that it is not only the bad acting, bad lightening and bad camera works which are hurting the African movie industry. The sort of titles (names) we give to our movies are seriously lame and this is a major killer of the industry.
Before you even get to watch the movie to establish how bad some of the actors and actresses are or how bad the movie has been put together, the title alone will not even allow you to proceed to pick it up…
I thought Ghanaians were bad when it comes to the titles we give to our movies but then, Nigerians are worse…After pumping into the Africa market with movies like Blackberry Babes, Rihanna & Beyonce, Obama Babes and others, Nollywood has come up with another STUPID title ‘Lady Gaga’. WTF?
What are some of the ridiculous African movie titles you have come across? Common name to give to a movie too we can’t seem to get it right? God help us!

@naakaa, you can just look at the covers and know the movies are going to be bad quality. desperate african movie makers need to be cut from making movies cause all they see is $dollarsigns$ they dont have love for the craft and its embarrassing us truly. they just pick famous names and make a dumb movie. You would think movies like this wouldn’t have so called “star actresses” like uchejumbo & monalisa.. they make movies with these type of titles as a ploy to get someone famous in america to watch it because it says lady gaga&obama. Sadly, i know it will work when it goes on nollywoodlove it will have a million views in less than a month BUT most comments will obviously say “this movie is stupid” “bad quality” “bad storyline” “bad acting” “bad english” “hoe-ish dressing” “unrealistic” etc… But i must say nigerians are smart, they know how to get people to watch there movies(blackberry babes) even though there highly rubbish movies

To me it like I am watching soap opera even soap is better than so call African movie they dress is out of the line wearing 4inch high heel running and try to go on heal can somebody tell them to wear something simple if they are shooting running movie like jeans and jim shoes

You are so right! The African movie industry seriously needs to learn how to be authentic, creative and convincing. The reason why people enjoy American movies is not only because of the high quality of these movies, but the characters are believable. And not only are most of the movie plots copied from Western movies, but they have horrible titles. Just because you name a movie after a famous American person doesn’t make it good. Such a shame really! I’m not going to group every African actor into one basket becasue we have some great ones, but i think the amateurs need to start small before they take leading roles. Many of them i will say need to take additional acting classes because i do believe that they can reach the caliber of American movies if they tried. No one wants something half-assed and sadly that’s what some of the African actors do.
