Out Of Box Story: UK To Cut Aid To Ghana For Persecuting Gays

blank

This whole ‘Gays in Ghana’ thing seems to be taking a total different dimension. Not only are western countries unhappy about the appalling treatments and non recognition of Gays rights in Africa including Ghana, UK is in fact threatening to cut down Aid…

Soon the USA will join in and they what will happen? I am still of the entrenched opinion that, people have autonomy over their own bodies and as such their sexual preferences/orientation should not bother anyone else. If someone wants to be Gay, why is that your problem?

In fact I will encourage him so we can share the women 5 to 1 unless the women want to be Gays too…LOL. On a more serious note, let’s quit this moral issue attached to the whole Gay debate and accord Gays the legal protection they deserve as human beings with right to fair treatment and non-non-discrimination.

Let’s see those who do not want Gays in Ghana? 🙂

The British government says it will cut aid to African countries that persecute LGBT people.

International Development Secretary Andrew Mitchell revealed the UK has already cut funding to Malawi by £19 million after two gay men were sentenced to 14 years in prison last May reports the Daily Mail.

Though Steven Monjeza and Tiwonge Chimbalanga were eventually pardoned by Malawi’s President, Bingu wa Mutharika, their freedom came with a stern warning.

“These boys committed a crime against our culture, against our religion, and against our laws,” Mutharika said. “We don’t condone marriages of this nature. It’s unheard of in Malawi and it’s illegal.”

The Daily Mail notes the UK has donated over £200 million to Malawi during the past three years but that the government will continue withholding funds from the country if it does not stop threatening and punishing its LGBT citizens.

Other countries on the UK’s watch list include Ghana, where earlier this year Western Region Minister Paul Evans Aidoo called for the arrest of all gay people and Uganda, which has considered a “Kill The Gays” bill and saw its first gay bar shuttered last week.

  1. Them British motherfuckers have more to be worried about.. they in a reccession and they thinking about gays in africa.. why not treating blacks in Brittan with the same decency as the whites. Fuck them bitches, they always feel like they have some rule over Africans

  2. If these people in Africa wanna be or is gay, let them, who cares!?! At the end of the day it’s their life not anybodies. African leaders need to know we are in a free World and all that is happening now in this World is in the good book of the Word. Let everything to the Lord.

God bless those souls in Africa!

    • @Akosua,thank you.I saw a video of a man in NIgeria being burnt to death for being gay.Really?.It is one thing if we don’t agree or support it but to actually arrest and beat or kill people.smh!.Its like what gave us the impudence. Our hypocrisy and ignorance can be really nauseating!.

      • @ihatestupidpeople,For that it is sickening. I’ve seen videos of somebody being burnt alive for no reason at all. That too is surely appalling. Being gay in my opinion is a choice and has nothing to do with genetic disposition. it’s a state of mind and they can desist from it. They should not be murdered. punished in some form yes.

        • @ghallday,You are right, murder like that for whatever reason is wrong. With regards to homosexuality being a choice,I disagree with you on that.Ask yourself when in your life did you wake up and decided to be straight?Did you feel attraction to both sexes and then decide you will rather be with women?.Ofcourse not,you didn’t make the choice. So with all the hate and persecution why will someone make a choice to be gay?.I am aware there are people who are gay for fun, just as they are gay people who are straight for society. That is when it is a choice, when there is an influence to make one decision over another. Why should someone sleeping with another,2 consenting adults be punished?.That is quite hypocritical don;t you think.Who licensed anyone of us to determine the punishment for someone for that. And what will possibly come out of that punishment?,that they will be straight?.If that could change anything it would have by now.I believe you are not necessarily a bad person but please familiar yourself if you can with these issues before you made dangerous decisions out of ignorance.I

          • @ihatestupidpeople, ooooohhhh I thank God that yes indeed there are some sensible people in the land. I loved what you wrote my dear. Not only was it true but it was complete sense. Why would anyone wake up and decide “I want an orienatation that will make me lose friends and family, endure scorn from society, possibly get beaten etc”. Yes some are gay for fun but some have these tendancies from childhood without any sexual molestation, hen pecked father, etc. Why they are like that I have no idea. I am still waiting for an answer from God. No one really knows how this thing comes about. Thank you for being there.I know there are many who wil take what you are saying out of context but then again i know there are many that do understand what you are saying.

          • @Perry Donnell, I am also very happy there is someone like you.Because someone of the staements people make are just disappointing. If we dont know or understand something,it doesn’t mean we hate it and punish people for it.It’s amazing how easily socalled “religious” people prescribe hate and punishment when the same bible they quote is all about love.Even for gay people in the bible.Even Judas.smh!

          • @ihatestupidpeople,”dangerous” decision? What exactly is that supposed to mean? I don’t get that part at all.. ” to make a dangerous decision out of ignorance.
Well that is (my) opinion. It’s a matter of choice be a homo or not. Ask yourself why the majority of homos are in the west and not in other nations? Are westerners predisposed to homosexuality? Well how about that?

          • @ihatestupidpeople,This beats me.. why don’t i see you commenting on many other issues on this site and particularly on this subject matter ?

        • @ghallday, thank you , some people try to associate their gay lifestyles to genetic issues which is always false. Its a decision they actually take. Its always either white/black:either they are punished or not.People are talking about not passing a bill or whatever.Fine!it wouldnt be legalized, but yet if there are no rules or some sort of punishment, they might end up moving about openly and that only isnt bad but will have lots of influence on the little ones growing.Remember, kids learn form what they see.Think about the future of your kids/grandkids someday. Its my opinion and am entitled to it, if you agree fine, if you dont, its ur own cup of tea..

          • @Adjoa Nbaaso),Yes Adjoa you have a good point. I was home last year on vacation and whiles at Community One  Shell station area I may have seen a girl(turned boy). It was obvious what her orientation was. I was really surprised… Something has got to be done. It is not part of our culture and our society. y3mp3!.

    • @Akosua,So Akosua it will be perfectly fine with you when for example your first born(son) comes home with his gay lover to introduce him to you. You will join them for their wedding and invite your ghanain family and friends to join the party. right??

      Reply
      • @ghallday, This is not what I’m saying. What I’m saying is that since I do not know these gay people
why should I support them being punished?? Are we God to punish? And what people do behind
closed door is none of my business. Indeed with the kind of life style this World is
embarking one can only prey to God for their children.

Well from reading you comment, then I’ll like to ask you the same question?

I read on peacefmonline.com how due to poverty in Ghana young boys in Takoradi are now selling
their body for money. The starting point of being gay.
How about the country helping these youngsters reader then punishing them. Two wrongs don’t
        make right!

        • @Akosua,I support your point that they should not be murdered as I stated in one of my replies. But on the same issue I asked you a question and am looking for your personal opinion here. I know that is not what you are saying. agreed.. so I ask…
When your first born son comes home with his gay lover(God willing).
          You will welcome them…
          Help plan their gay wedding…
And then invite the ghana family and friends to help celebrate…
Would you be able to do that? It’s a simple question.

  3. I also personally feel the persecution of gays is silly. I feel all parliament needs to do is to not pass a bill that will not encourage gay marraige. Nobody has the right to abuse or arrest people for being gay. Jesus will never support the abuse of anybodys freedoms no matter the background of the individual. There are more peaceful and sensible ways to avert social vices than intimidation. Just dont pass a gay marraige bill that is all.
I know Ghana would have been further up on the peaceful countries ranking, if we had not made those human rights violations

    • @Baaba,wise words girlfriend.Especially considering the fact that workers are striking and people are dying from common cold in our hospitals. If anything the government should be persecuted for allowing its people to live in such deplorable conditions.Till we learn how to feed ourselves and put our lights on for atleast 24 hrs a day,we really have no business nor the resources trying to setup a taskforce to arrest gay people. It sounds like one of the idiotic,ill-planned actions African government are prone to do…smh!.We need to be practical,Britain has no right to tell us to for eg.allow gay people to get married, but if we decide to kill people senselessly, then the international world will definitely have a say in it.We need to be practical.

      • @ihatestupidpeople,

Agreed, Ghana is and will always have an anti- gay stance, but like you have all said prosecution of homosexuals should not be our priority. I honestly feel those clauses that allow gay people to be arrested and killed should be stopped. Violence is never the answer, such action can hurt our economy as foreign investors will feel that our country is not worth investing in as it violates human rights.Trust me Zimbabwe isnt having a holiday now that many nations have boycotted their government, and neither did apartheid South Africa after divestment

        • @Gigli,

I agree people are entitled to what they want to do with their body etc but your economic stance is rather not accurate, the economic situation in Zimbabwe isn’t as western media such as cnn and bbc are portraying to the western world. I have been to Harare and it looks amazing, could stand shoulder to shoulder with Uk’s London. Foreign investors? no, foreign investment never benefits a country, unless the venture is going to be headquartered in the country. All those foreign companies in Ghana are siphoning money/natural resources out of our economy, I am yet to know of any foreign investor who is ready to build a manufacturing factory in Ghana or any African country. Apartheid South Africa was enjoying full support of then super powers United States and United Kingdom.

        •  It really intrigues me how some countries are ready to take stances like this in the name of humanitarian efforts but this same countries are ever ready to invade other countries, kill the natives and steal oil all in the name of ‘democracy’. It is about time African leaders stop playing the Uncle Tom for western leaders, if they want to impose embargo, Africa too can do better, stop dealing with them, direct all natural resources to China, so they will bow to the Next Big Thing! One point I came across also is, they are more scientist who still recognize homosexualism as a psychological  disorder,  one who has been loud about this is Dr Omar Johnson. Apart from all that, studies have concluded that homosexual males are about 17times more likely to get rectal cancer than even females who engage in anal sex, countries which are offering subsidized medical services have a reason to be alarmed about the practice then, because after 10 or more, when those who indulge in the act start developing the cancer, the burden would fall on the majority who do not indulge in it, more pressure on the government to direct more resources there instead of their intended use. With all this said, on an individual bases, to everyone his/her own, but what if it means more burden on others than some people?

          • @Lamar,I just wanted to correct a few things you mentioned because your sources have it wrong…….Fist of all. more scientists do no think homosexuality is a psychological disorder. If anything their opinions are shifting to the opposite.Homosexuals are not 17 times more likely to get rectal cancer because they have sex in the anus.First of all that is not how cancer is caused, second, by using your logic, you might as well say straight women are more likely to get vaginal cancer than lesbians because they have sex through their vagina. It is just not true and it is impossible physiologically.Without saying much,I have a background in science and this is not true so I think you have been misinformed by your sources. You can google and look up any information you doubt to verify.

        • What is UK and USA doing about death sentence on gay folks in the Arab world? I guess they can’t do much but plea, since Arabs aren’t Uncle Toms like African leaders, Sad!

  4. I personally dont think they should not persecute them or kill them becos they have different sexual orientation, what they can do is they should not legalize it or give them any social recongnition in the country, even in America it is not all the state that have legailize gays…so please lets love one another for God is love, for God hate Gays but love the Gay person…

    • @Akata,
agreed most people think gayism is legal in all states in the us but its only a few states that have legalised it, most states dont approve of it. they dont abuse their rights but they still manage to keep homoseuality out of the constitution, thats the way to go

      Reply
      • @ebo & @Akata,
You are both incorrect about the legality of homosexuality in the United States. Homosexuality is legal in every one of the 50 states due to the Federal Constitution and Bill of Rights which basically says that all humans have the right to do what they want as long as they do not break the laws of the country and State they are in. There are no Federal or State laws banning homosexuality anywhere in the US, but there are laws defining marriage as well as morality laws which ban certain sexual acts like sodomy. For the laws defining marriage, they are different state by state, and in the case of some states are currently being re-defined to include homosexual unions. I think that is where you two got a little confused and thought the debate over the definition of marriage was actually about the legality of homosexuality in general. In terms of the morality laws, they are more on a state and local level, and apply to both straight and gay people. They are leftovers of religiously based laws defining sexually deviant behavior created by whatever group settled in that area, so they vary quite a bit even from city to city. Since these laws vary so much and are hard to prosecute because they are so non-secular, they are rarely enforced. If they are enforced, they always get repealed if the case goes to a State or Federal court. Also, there are some lawmakers who are trying to get an amendment to the Federal Constitution that defines marriage as between a man and a woman. Even if this amendment were to be passed, it would not ban homosexuality in the US, just gay marriage. I posted this reply not to hate on anyone, just wanted to clarify the situation in the US for anyone who cares to know.

        • @c.a. owusu, thank you for the clarification.I live in the states and it is true.It is legal, that is why gay people are not arrested,etc..The debate is actually over marriage and other rights accompanying it.We really need to get our facts straight. 🙂

          • @Serwaa, what makes you think he is wrong.Did you go to the American congress and changed the laws that we do not know of?.Or you lack the ability to comprehend what is written in the federal and state constitution.O i know, you are one of those people who just open their mouth and say something they have no idea about huh?….Aahhhhh i get it. Check you “fact’ again because if you go to the federal governement website,it is there in simple english. 🙂

  5. @Akosua, pls dnt say dat. This gay pple shd b punished n if UK n USA wants 2 cut their aid let them go ahead afta all what impact is their aid in my lyf. Its God who takes care of a nation n He knws best. Hv u 4gotten what happened 2 Sodom n Gomorah? If u want what happened 2 them happen 2 us, then live in da world as if there is no GOD. God save us

    • @Nana Akua,
but as with the case of sodom did humans persecute them or did God do it?
Somethings are not our duty leave it up to God to handle those things
All we need to do is not to allow gay marraige to be passed but to jail and kill gay people is wrong, and like one of the ppl commenting above said, christ will neva approve of such behaviour
after all God saved the good people in sodom and gomorrah and left the bad to be destroyed
so if you know u r gud stay gud God will vea harm u

      • @nana yaa, But are the good people doing to stop the bad things from spreading, am not saying they should be killed or anything. But as a christian i know that God hates homosexuality, so i must do something to stop it from spreading.

      • @ihatestupidpeople,This is pure logic. So tell  me this– if you never see a bull humping a bull or a a he-goat  humping another he-goat, why would a man want to screw another man or a woman be busily humping another woman with a strap on? it’s illogical

        Reply
        • @ghallday,I’m sorry my man but it is not logic. What you are saying is your opinion and you absolutely entitled to it.I understand, with the facts presently available to you,it will be difficult to wrap your mind around it,that is why you need to for eg. take the time,go to google scholar or whatever and read from people with both points of view not only those who support gay people. Then when you are presented with the facts, you can make an INFORMED decision.I don;t know why up to this day people still use the argument that it doesn’t happen in the animal kingdom. It does but is very uncommon.Just as the majority of the population is not gay.
.But when you start speaking about logic then you need to consider facts.Facts like there was and still is an all women kingdom in southern Africa called the Mojaji tribe(spelling?) where their queen took  wives.Go read the preface of “Things fall apart” where Chinua Achebe talks about rich Ibo women marrying other women and raising their children. It then becomes illogical for someone to say that homosexuality is a western import.
But after being privy to all these facts,it is ok to not change your view because you are entitled to your opinions. But don’t forget the distinction that it is an opinion, not a logical deduction from facts.
My personal opinion on gay people is neutral.I just don’t think it is right to kill or even punish someone because we think it is unatural, harmful etc. That will be making other’s suffer just because we do not understand them. Then we become the bad ones here. And for those who use the religious argument, don’t be selective in your interpretation of the bible.Practise what you preach,do not judge, etc.etc etc.

        • @ghallday, Tell me about it.Am surprised with some of the comments above.People talking about human rights and all, forgetting the influence and bad impact these gay people could have on others. But what I donot understand is why the British government took such decison.I always say God was too wise to know that two same sex marriage was wrong, thats why he created both male and female.

  6. The hypocrisy of western nations is simply sickening.
You are always talking about “human rights” this and “human rights” that..
Yet you invade countries abroad and subject their populations to some of the worst
    forms of atrocities imaginable.
In Iraq today over ONE MILLION people are dead from this war in which the UK
fully participated in. In Ghana we are not killing gays on the streets yet
they want to cut financial aid to us. The hypocrisy stinks to high heaven,.
