Marriages Sent From Hell…

blank

Marriages between Ghanaian Gospel artists and Pastors are nowadays turning into Marriage sent from hell. A pastor’s marriage to a gospel artist would be reasonably expected to be lovely but recent developments contradict this notion.

Fans of some Gospel artists in Ghana are still in shock after hearing what has been going on in the marriages of these Gospel artists. It seems most Ghanaian gospel artists are not happy with their marriages to the various holy men of God-Pastors.

Florence Obinim, Esther Smith, Christiana Love and other Ghanaian gospel artists who are/were married to pastors seem to have lived in a pool full of marital atrocities.

Not long ago, Bishop Daniel Obinim the husband of Florence Obinim was in the news for allegedly cheating on her wife out of which a baby is said to have been born.

Motivational Message Of The Week: Strength Does Not Come From Winning But From…

blank

All successful and well doing men have something in common. Their success is grounded on strength-the foundation upon which they have built their empires and glory.

Even the great Kings and Emperors who were able to hold their Kingdoms and Empires together for substantial number of years had the all important trace of strength. Without strength, success will never be achieved.

If our success is dependent on our strength, would it therefore not be prudent that we clearly understand and acknowledge the source of our strength? After all, without it, we will never realize our desire success.

Despite the importance of strength in achieving success, the very people who are bent on obtaining success always misplace the source of strength. Most of us do not achieve the success we desire because we lack the strength needed to obtain it.

Those who are smart enough to acknowledge the role strength plays in achieving success also focus on the wrong source. Therefore, they are never able to gather the required strength needed to gravitate towards success.

The commonly existing misconception about strength is, many are of the view that our strength comes from winning. I have heard several people saying, ‘they get stronger the more they win or their strength comes from winning’. Wrong… In fact, you somehow get weaker the more you win.

The incongruent relationship between strength and winning was well noted by Mahatma Gandhi who brilliantly captured it as “Strength does not come from winning. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.”

Fashion & Lifestyle: The Inspiration & Reason Behind My Hair…

blank

Like many black women I was on a quest to frame my face in the commercial images that I was imbued with as a child. I saw myself as a reflection of some images someone showed me on Billboards, TVs and Magazines.

I’ve been getting the 3rd degree about my hair a lot so I decided to share the reason behind it. I’ve had my hair ‘permed’ ever since I can remember until my hubby whining incessantly in my ear became unbearable “Amaa (as he likes to call me), grow out your hair, go natural, you’ll look fabulous, all those chemicals you put in your hair are dangerous, they are killing your brain cells…LOL. I mean he did everything in his power to persuade me”!

And every single time I gave him the same answer, “anything that makes me ugly you love”. Then with the odds stacked against me, I got JINXED by him, my hair stylist relocated and that was an end to an era. 🙂

I had my sister take the place of the hair stylist and the rest was a NIGHTMARE!!!! My hair was falling out in droves. This compelled me to cave in to my hubby’s never ending requests and he shaved my hair all off. Not that I had a choice though but I had to blow his ego to make him believe he was right all along. So this is how my natural hair came to be.

I knew he was right all along in regards to the chemicals but I didn’t have the courage to grow my hair out naturally again after wearing it that way from when my mum birthed me to my last day in high school.

I must admit, it took me months to finally reveal my hair to the public and the feedback was great so I said to myself, why not stick it out and see how it goes and I’ve never looked back  since.

It’s perfect for my lifestyle. I’m a very active person.  I love going to the gym and engaging in a lot of outdoor activities therefore sweating profusely is what I’m accustomed.

Readers Mail: Nadia Buari Slaps The Haters In The Face, ‘The Buari Ville’ Reality TV Will Be Rocking Either You Like It Or Not…

blank

Hey Chris-Vincent,

I trust you are well out there. After all, I have not heard that Yvonne Nelson has punched you in the face yet.

I hope this will interest you the same way the anti-Nadia Buari propaganda stories get the most of your attention.

Contrary to your post dated 4/10/11 captioned ‘ Video: Is Nadia Buari Thinking She Is The Next Kim Kardashian’, Nadia Buari does not think she is anyone, she is herself. And if you and the anti-Nadia Buari family care to know, the Buari family Reality TV show is still coming on and it will even rock better than that of Kim K.

I came across the attached photo which seems to be a promo for the Buari’s Reality TV Show which will glue even the haters to their TV sets. What does the photo say? It looks good right? Yeah she is the first to do this in Ghana and this should tell people how smart the girl is.

Some of your notorious blog readers stated without facts that even if there is going to be such a show; it will fail because it will be boring. Really? How did they come to this conclusion? Is it because it did not come from their favourite celebrities?

All I want is for you to publish this especially the attached photo on your blog-GhanaCelebrities.Com for both the Nadia Buari fans and haters to know that, the girl is not far from shinning. In fact, she is a shooting star.

Top Actors/Actresses Boycott ‘Kumawood Film Festival & Akoben Movie Awards!

blank

Movies produced in Kumasi are mostly done in Twi, a local language in Ghana. ‘Wood’ has become a generic name for movies. The industry in that part of Ghana now is termed as ‘Kumawood’.

Kumawood has nurtured lots of movie personalities who are doing marvellous in the make-believe fraternity. It has also brought to the limelight lots of budding talents both in the acting and directing field.

Yesterday in Kumasi, the organisers of the ‘Kumawood Film Festival & Akoben Movie Awards’ encountered their first major setback as top actors and actresses dominating the screens when it comes to movies produced in Kumasi boycotted the launch of the awards meant to honour them.

The idea behind the ‘Kumawood Film Festival & Akoben Movie Awards’ is to award Actors, Actresses, Writers, Directors, Producers, Technician and other personalities in the local film making industry in Ghana.

One would have thought that, the awards instituted to acknowledge their exploits and honour them will be viewed as a step in the right direction, especially when they complain of not being given the needed attention and their movies subjected to mockery.

The ceremony started without any of the top actors/actresses being present. Their where about was not readily known as no explanation at all was given. Only few of not so well known faces graced the occasion.

Later after the launch, GhanaCelebrities.Com eavesdropped on conversation between some movie enthusiasts who had graced the occasion hoping to meet their favourite stars and pose for the camera with them.

Information GhanaCelebrities.Com gathered after the launch indicate that, the unexpected boycott by the top stars was because most of them were on location shooting. Some even wondered why, the organisers didn’t liaise with the production houses to release them to attend the media launch.

Mr. Kwaku Twumasi, an Actor, Director and Producer who also doubles as the head of the awards committee denied the above. He explained to GhanaCelebrities.Com that, indeed they extended invitations to some of them but the attention was centered greatly on the media.

God should come fast…

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

Award-winning Ghanaian gospel musician, Christiana Love, has explained circumstances that led to the breakdown of her nine-year marriage to Pastor Love Kweku Hammond, General Overseer of the Life Power Miracle Church.

Though Pastor Love is hopping from one radio station to another yelling that Christiana was pregnant for another man, that allegation has turned out to be an ordinary hearsay with no evidence whatsoever.
Christiana has challenged Pastor Love to prove his allegation and his response has been that it was a certain pastor friend in Europe who told him of the supposed relationship between the gospel singer and a certain Nana Yaw.

Christiana has categorically denied ever dating another man, let alone becoming pregnant for someone else. According to Christiana, Nana Yaw was a philanthropist who supported her charity project and that the man was a happily married man.

Dear Readers!

So I decided to professionally venture into the world of blogging. I’m not insinuating that blogging is new to me but I was doing it in the comfort of my social network profile without a care in the world. This time around, I’m opening myself up for judgments, critique and vulnerability to the outside world. I MUST say I’m pretty excited about this journey that I’m about to embark on. I’m open to any constructive criticism that will help me grow as a person pursuing this adventure.

Geez! I’m going on and on without introducing myself. I’m Francisca Baffour but I’d like to be called Nana Ama Baffour as I would like to be known as lately. I’ve been residing in NY for over a decade now. Carving a niche for myself on Ghana Celebrities is my ultimate goal and hopefully my beautiful audience will play a huge part in this.

GC Life 101: When A Lady Takes In Alcohol & Smokes In The Presence Of Her Child!

blank

There is a verse in the Holy Bible which talks about training up a child in the way he should grow, so that even when he grows old, he will not depart from it. These nice words can be found in Proverbs chapter 22 vr 6.

In training up a child, the parents or the guardian must know that, compared to adults, children learn much faster. I have always been of the mindset that, kids are fast at learning. Children relate and turn to learn first about things they see or hear around them. Every child, whether brainy or not can remember a thing from TV and radio commercials.

This is why it is very important that, parents become meticulous with what they talk about when their children are around. Their utterances should be checked. Children are known to be quick at picking insults hailed on people by people around them. They also have the tendency to ask questions when they look lost.

If a child is quick at remembering basic things said in their presence, what then becomes of a child whose dad constantly smokes in his presence? What of a child whose mum hails insults at least provocation when the child is around? Such a child will be a spoilt-brat before he even grows up.

Most boys tend to follow the patterns of their fathers. Whiles girls tend to do same with their mothers. This is why expressions like this; like father like son or like mother like daughter is constantly on the lips of many to associate the child with his or her parents based on similarities in conduct.

A friend has seen the sense in being independent. After helping him with another friend of ours to buy stuff to decorate his room, we retired in the nearby Banku and Tilapia joint. We were so famished as the result of walking in Ghana’s scorching sun.

The sun blazes too much in Ghana. When one is walking in this sun, it burns as if the person is being punished. I won’t doubt it if the burns from the sun is responsible for the nut-heads in Ghana called politicians. This burn from the sun is so severe and so annoying. It makes people feel very uncomfortable.

Where Are The Ghanaian Movie Directors? Have They Been Sidelined By Their Nigerian Counterparts?

Leila Djansi
Leila Djansi

Contrary to what many people think, there are essentially enough movie directors in Ghana. The only problem is that, they don’t get scripts to direct.

Several reasons have been given for their inability to get scripts. The most common of all the reasons is, they are not fully committed at their job as movie directors, whereas the Nollywood directors are said to be the exact opposite.

From movies released, it appears that movie directors from Nollywood have been offered permanent seats in the Ghana Movie Industry –demoting their counterparts in Ghana to the background. They seem to have taken over their jobs.

The presence of Nollywood movie directors inGhanais very noticeable. Their number is huge and the list is a tall one. If a movie is not directed by Phil Bernard then it will be Ish Thompson or Willie Ajenge or maybe Ofam Okereke. If it is not Ifeanyi Onyeabor and Tchidi Chikere or John Izedonmi then your guess will be right, because it will certainly be Frank Raja Arase or Pascal Amanfo.

And the list keeps growing. Where are the Ghanaian movie directors?

In GhanaCelebrities.Com’s interaction with some of the biggest movie producers inGhanawho pleaded to remain anonymous, they mentioned that top movie producers prefer to offer their scripts to Nollywood movie directors to direct at the expense of the Ghanaians.

The Nigerian directors are said to be very well involved in their jobs but same can’t be said of the Ghanaian directors. The only way to avoid embarrassment or disgrace is to learn. According to the top producers, the Nigerian directors keep updating themselves, something that remains a dream to their Ghanaian counterparts.
