Kwaku T

Ghana’s Hip-Pop sensation Kwaku T finds himself stack against the odds, in what could potentially be a contemporary rendition of the biblical David and Goliath tale, as he faces a telecommunication giant in a litigation which is by far the biggest test yet for Ghana’s copy right protect laws.

He will not relent in becoming the first musician in Ghana to take on a corporate entity in the law courts and win, for the violation of his intellectual property rights.

False reports yesterday suggested that he and his partner in the suit D-Black had been paid off by Vodafone Ghana to withdraw the case from court but Kwaku T has denied this.

What actually emerged yesterday during their court session is that counsel for D-Black said his client has decided to pull out of the case leaving his buddy, Kwaku T in the cold. It remains unclear, however, where his pull-out was indeed influence by some pay-off.

Charter House, organizers of Miss Malaika have denied media reports that the Miss Malaika 2011 pageant was nothing more than a stolen verdict.

According to NewsOne report, “investigations have revealed that Gerry Partington actually won the contest on a clean slate and with clean hands as the final score sheet revealed – that three out of the five judges for the night actually voted in her favour.

Though a section of the media had reported that three of the judges voted for Alexandra Ayirebi-Acquah and that only two voted for Gerry Partington, evidence on the ground and the score sheets prove that the judges rather ruled in favour of Gerry but it was the announcer who slipped when announcing the results”.

Speaking on the issue of stolen verdict which many have regarded as going to profoundly affect the ratings of Miss Malaika, Charter House Public Relations Manager-Juno Abena Turkson told NewsOne that “These are very credible persons within the entertainment industry and they are available for anyone to ask them how they voted. Apart from that, it is unfair to blame Charter House because we do not decide who should win and who should not win. We leave that decision entirely to the judges and all we do is to provide them with the score sheets and give them the criteria.
