Comedians: Pararan and Smith

New, and set to take Ghana’s entertainment industry by storm, is Mafia City Entertainment, a burgeoning entertainment business group that is poised to cause a huge stir, and to offer stiff competition to the already established names.
The outfit, which is led by the ever forceful and energetic Vincent Tobi, is warming up gradually to find its feet. But even before that feat is achieved, they’ve started out something on the quiet: giving a group of young men of Ghanaian and Nigerian orientation, a chance to show what they’ve got.
Currently Mafia City has two groups of musicians and a comedy duo, who are fast becoming household names.
Leading the pack is Austin Omeereyone, a.ka. Fancy Boy, a fast-rising singer, whose latest single “You are the one” is receiving massive rotation on rural and urban radio. Also in the works, are five other singles including “Wind am”, “I can feel you”, “We dey”, “Azonto” and “Do you remember”.

Musician: Fancy Boy

Fancy Boy comes across as your average definition of an all-round artiste who knows his trade all too well to go wrong.
“I want to take African music to the next level,” he says. “My kind of music s for both the young and old,” he adds.
To this end, both the Ghana and Nigeria market is what he is targeting, counting on his impressive repertoire put together thus far.
The Delta State young man is hopeful that given the level of seriousness Mafia City has attached to his career, a lot more lays in store for him.
Fancy Boy isn’t the only musician under the Mafia City label. Following closely, are the “Best Ones”, a dynamic duo who are leaving nothing to chance.
Largely underground and unsung but serious about breaking into mainstream fold, Best Ones could as well be that group which will push up Mafia City’s stock.
The group wouldn’t put a finger to what type of genre they are good at, except, “GH Rap and Dancehall”, says Bernard Odai, a.k.a Benny a member of the group.
The future according to Odai is bright and can only get better under Mafia City.

Musicians: Best Ones

Also pulling in the favours and credits for the Mafia City group is a comedy duo consisting of Diamond Osakorigho, widely known as Parara, and Andrew Smith Okoro, otherwise known as Andrew Smith.
To say that the two are fitfully funny would be stating the obvious.
They have interesting tales of how comedy can be the most rewarding trade if taken serious, and what it is that makes one a good comedian.
Both Parara and Andrew Smith are upbeat about their chances of breaking into Ghana’s comedy trade but would always thank God for those small mercies they continue to enjoy back home in Nigeria.
Performing and proving their worth at the numerous shows they’ve performed including the “AY Show”, “Stand Up Nigeria”, “Made in Warri” and Miss Goldenwood among others in Ghana, it is fair to say that the duo have more comedy years ahead of a trade that can only get better with time.
The coming years should be rewarding and equally tasking for Mafia City, as they seek to shoot these artistes right to the top of an industry that can sometimes get messy. But granted that their charges are able to deliver, and make their investments worth it, the turning point could be just around the corner.
At Mafia City Entertainment, they say, “God is with us”. This couldn’t have been a better tagline.
