I have seen photos of some of the immediate past Miss Ghana winners who have lost their beauty and have also failed to maintain their body sizes…I am not by any stretch saying, only slim women are beautiful since some men love theirs HUGE…But for the purpose of Miss Ghana, the slim ones always … Read more

I Love Politics But I Hate The Accompanying Anti-Intellectual Culture In Ghana

Chris-Vincent @ Brighton Pebble Beach
Chris-Vincent @ Brighton Pebble Beach

Many individuals including close friends and family have asked why a law graduate like ‘me’ pursuing a career in law has fanatical interest in Ghanaian Entertainment instead of politics.
The consistent nature of the above question reflects the strong desire and the interest Ghanaian lawyers and several highly educated individuals have in politics.
If the political game in Ghana is predominantly played by highly educated and intellectual minds, then, is it not only reasonable that we expect a fair game play-divorce of any anti-intellectual culture? Don’t we have the right, in fact a duty to demand an equitable game play by these highly intellectual minds?
Contrary to the above, the actions and omissions of many of our politicians, intellectual minds and rulers fall below what such great minds are accepted to reasonably exhibit in governance.
The common justification-politics is a dirty game played by decent and intellectual minds cannot even exonerate our Ghanaian politicians. Their actions go beyond the ordinary dirty skin well layered within politics.
Majority of our intellectual politicians seem not to be dirty game players, they are rather atrocious, wicked and above all, their desire for power and self enrichment supersede the interest of ordinary Ghanaian citizens.
Observing all the recent development in Ghanaian politics leaves me with no option than to keep a distance since it remains unattractive to my ‘little’ conscience.
There seems to be little which depict the fact that the political game in Ghana is being played by well educated and some of the greatest minds of today.
Partisan interests have overshadowed national interests. There is little or no over-reaching duty of accountability, fairness and respect for other political game players.

Actress Nadia Buari And Bimbo Manuel Dazzle In Heroes and Zeros

blank
One of the finest faces ever to have made it out of Ghana, Nadia Buari has added another feather to her cap as she gave a good account of herself beyond many people’s expectation in a new movie, Heroes and Zeros.
Directed by award-winning filmmaker, Niji Akanji, Heroes and Zeros have been described as one of the best works to come out of this part of the world in recent times.
According to Niji, Nadia was very professional on set and remains the best of her contemporary that he has ever worked with. ‘’Nadia was very professional, I was impressed. She delivered on her character like never before. If you ask her, she would tell you that she was challenged beyond limit on the job’’.
The Takoradie born mulatto screen goddess who is presently in United States was in Lagos months back for 28 days shooting the movie.
Heroes and Zeros is the story of the destructive pursuance of Tonia (Nadia Buari) by Amos Fele (Bimbo Manuel). Ten years ago, AMOS FELE was a wealthy celebrity director in the Nigerian film industry. Now he lives in a ramshackle flat, doing occasional low-paying TV Commercials for nameless products. He’s a daily comic relief on the local soccer practice pitch: because though he’s already 45 years old, he nurses a new, insane dream of making it into the dollar-soaked world of international soccer!
His joyless marriage to TINUKE, a junior bank worker, is crumbling fast, especially after the death of their only child. A boost to his sagging spirit comes when a big-budget French-Nigerian film project appoints him as director. Suddenly, the Press begins to (re)celebrate him. Top actors and producers begin to call him up. To his wife’s distress, Fele also quickly re-establishes his wane reputation as a first-class womanizer.

After Goofing At VGMAs, Appietus Saves Face With A Weak Excuse!

blank
The just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards has been described by many as okay and not fully ‘Recharged’ as the organisers and sponsors promised Ghanaians after charging a whooping 100GHC.
The event was characterised by both high and low moments. However, few days after the awards, one of the lowest moments where ‘Producer of the Year’ winner, Appietus goofed when invited to present an award for the ‘Highlife Artiste of the Year’ is already been discussed and getting people’s attention.
The celebrated Producer and Sound Engineer was invited to present an award for the ‘Highlife Artiste of the Year’. The nominees were Daddy Lumba, K.K. Fosu, Kwabena Kwabena, Kwasie Pee, George Darko and Lucky Mensah.
Instead he was given a wrong envelope that had the winner of the ‘Hiplife/Hiphop Artiste (s) of the Year’¸ which was eventually won by Kwaw Kese.
After the video of the nominees was played on the large screen on both sides of the stage, Appietus went ahead to mention Kwaw Kese as the winner. Immediately jeers and boos from the crowd accompanied his goof, instead he blamed Charter House, the organisers for the mistake to save his face.
