Majority of the winners of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) 2012 did not turn up for the prize presentations on Tuesday at MUSIGA Office in Accra.
The organisers of the annual awards, Charter House were ready to present each winner with his or her prize, yet only few of the winners were present. This development forced the organisers to give an ample time to wait for the rest to show up for the presentation to look beautiful.
After several hours, the short event kick started with the artistes who were available. The absence of  a number artistes did not ruin the presentation but it did take some shine out of the whole event.
The VGMAs in its 13th edition was held on Saturday April 13 at the Dome of the Accra International Conference. Prior to that, the Industry award was held to award the Industry Categories.
Each award winner irrespective of the number of awards won received GHC 3.000 whiles the ‘Artiste of the Year’ picked GHC 10.000.

It is not easy doing a lot and having a lot going for you in Africa at the age of 24. Perhaps it justifies the assertion that women must be seen and not heard.
Contrary to the norm of a lady not telling her age, the beautiful unassuming Naa Ashorkor says it with a whiff and still be good at what she does which is the most important.
“As a baby I was told I was sweet and cute,” she said gleefully, “but as an adult I was said to be ‘too known’.”
She was all about beauty with brains, educating and empowering women to exude such confidence while taking control of their lives when she stopped by the Yellow House to meet the Girls.

Can Nigeria Redeem Itself Or Watch Ghana Do The Double Over Them?

Ghana Meets Naija 2012
Ghana Meets Naija 2012

The ‘Ghana Meets Naija’ concert is largely regarded as a musical showdown of sorts to establish supremacy between two countries whose musical trends have continuously influenced and rivaled each other in every way.
If indeed, the concert is a showdown, then last year’s edition was judged by many industry pundits as being a unanimous victory in favor of the Ghanaian artistes who excited the most with their performances on the night. This year therefore, the Naija acts are pledging to bring their best performances to bear on the night.
In typical Nigerian fashion, top Naija acts featuring on the bill have stated emphatically that come the night of 30th June, 2012, they will outclass their Ghanaian counterparts.
The Nigerian acts billed to perform include African hip-hop heavyweight, MI, his Chocolate city label mate and crooner Brymo whose hit single ‘Ara’ is one of the most heavily rotated songs on local radio and on the club scene.  Another Nigerian artiste taking Africa by storm, Davido, who has yet to perform his hit club banger ‘Dami Duro’ on any stage in Ghana.
Also billed to take the stage in Ghana for the first time will be Don Jazzy’s leading lady and Nigeria’s finest female act of the moment, Tiwa Savage, who has three hit songs on heavy rotation in Ghana and Africa ’Kelekele’, ‘Love Me’ and ‘Oma Ga’.
