BIG BROTHER STARGAME: Jannette Falls Short, Lady May, Prezzo, Wati, Talia, Keagan or Kyle Could Win The USD 300 000 Prize!

blank
Uganda’s Jannette stumbled one step short of the Big Brother StarGame final as she became the 8th housemate to be evicted from the Upville house last night (29 July on DStv Channel 197 & 198 at 20:00 CAT). After managing to dodge nomination for 11 weeks, her luck ran out last Monday as she fell foul of Wati and Lady May – and then received fewer country votes than Kyle, Lady May and Prezzo over the course of this week to see her time in the house come to an end.
Jannette’s departure means that there are six housemates left in the running for the USD 300 000 prize, which will be awarded next Sunday during a spectacular live finale. Lady May, Prezzo, Wati, Talia, Keagan and Kyle need Africa’s votes to determine which of them wins Big Brother StarGame!
Sunday night’s show was as packed with music as it was with drama, as DJ Pita from Uganda’s Sanyu FM spun the decks, Angola’s Young Nucho performed I’m Not Wayneand South African hip-hop stars Jozi rocked the house with Baby Don’t Cry.
It had been a massive week in the Big Brother house as the housemates worked hard to win their ONE Campaign task, and had celebrity shout outs and visitors in the shape of Mary J. Blige, Bono, Nas, Melanie Fiona, Zolani Mahola and Nigeria’s own 2Face Idibia. Kyle had some regrets about putting Keitta up for eviction last week, while Jannette struggled to come to terms with her first nomination.
Last week’s evictees Alex and Keitta have had a busy time since leaving the Big Brother StarGame house and viewers got to hear all about it. Alex said he’d like to be remembered as the guy who was always “chilled out” while Keitta wanted people to think of him as the guy who was the “fun of the house”. Alex learned to respect different people’s opinions and said he had felt particularly close to Yadel. Keitta said his instincts had told him that Kyle had put him up for eviction as part of his ‘save and replace’ decision, which made his eviction “easier”, because in his words: “it’s just a game”.

Van Vicker's Latest Movie ‘The Hands Of Time’ Premieres On August 3, Featuring Nadia Buari, Kofi Adjorlolo & Others!

blank
On Friday August 3, 2012 at the Silverbird Cinema in Accra, Sky + Orange Productions, which is under the tutelage of actor Van Vicker would premiere  a new movie titled ‘The Hands Of Time’ to movie fanatics before subsequently releasing it unto the movie market for public consumption.
The Hands Of Time’ is the fourth movie that the actor has directed since veering into the directing field. Having directed three movies prior to this new one, Van have had time to weigh his options in terms of whether to ‘play God’ or to maintain the basic directing rules.
Let me explain the term ‘Playing God’. It is an expression used to refer to folks who behave like they know it all. These are people who feel that they know just anything and impose whatever they believe in on their associates.
So when a director plays God in movie making, it means that he/she tries to direct every mood and mannerisms of the actors on set whiles filming.
If you have better understanding and explanation of ‘Playing God’, let me know.

In telling a story, a director can break the rules if he or she believes it’s imperative to do so to help the story – This is normal in movie making. The role of a director cannot be downplayed, more especially if such a director wrote the script which is being transformed into a movie.

BIG QUESTION: Where Are The Non Ghanaian Parents Of All The Bi-Racial Ghanaian Celebrities Hiding?

blank
I have pushed the above question down the throat of Chris-Vincent, Editor of  GhanaCelebrities.Com several times since he has all the gossip and information on our Ghanaian celebrities.
However, Chris has failed to deliver on this question to my satisfaction. The names and supposed countries of origin of the non Ghanaian half of all our mixed race celebrities have been provided, but the question; where are they hiding as at now remains unanswered.
Am I the only one who has taught about this question or are there other curious individuals asking themselves this same question?
From what I am told, none of the non Ghanaian parents of these celebrities have passed away, yet their where about remains a mystery.
Do you know why I am asking this question? Instead of these celebrities priding themselves as fully Ghanaians since their non Ghanaian halves cannot even be bothered to care about them or put any value on their lives, they carry themselves as non Ghanaians or some sort of advance civilization of the Ghanaian people.
Why would you claim not to be a full version of the people who accepted you and kept you? Why will you keep bringing up the fact that you are bi-racial or not fully a Ghanaian the little opportunity you get when your other half does not seem to even care about you?

LIFESTYLE: Is Weave/Relaxed Hair Beautiful But Fake & Is Afro Hair Natural, But Ugly?

blankFollowing on both from the ‘fake article’ and the ‘Dark skin vrs Light skin article’, I have decided to talk about black women’s hair. I have relaxed hair that is a bit past my shoulders, that is what I feel most comfortable with.
I have never done weave because my scalp is quite sensitive and even with “rasta” plaits, my scalp will erupt into itchiness and soreness.
Here in London there is a growing movement of black women who are going back to their natural afro hair from weaves or relaxation, citing the chemicals present in relaxers, and the stress placed upon the scalp by weave and lace fronts as reasons.
Some of them are controversially claiming that women who don’t rock their afros have not pride in their Africanism, and are basing their self esteem on looking like Caucasian women.
Hmmm, while I think this is an extreme point of view, there are studies that have shown that black women express dissatisfaction with themselves from an early age when they play with dolls that have Caucasian type hair.
Clearly we are influenced by what we see, and if the majority of women have weave/relaxed hair, that is what they will think is beautiful.

What Is Wrong With Our Female Musicians? They Need To Fix Up Quick Or Else…

blank
On the global music scene, the Ghana Hip life scene is slowly, but surely making an impact with the male musicians championing the cause.
One thing I have noticed is that, our mainstream female musicians are off the radar, and in many cases, retrogressing in their career.
This is really sad to me as a woman. If I’m looking back even as recent as two years ago, our female musicians had all the potential in the world, tracks like “Wengeze” and “Fake London Boy” were in heavy rotation. But now they are getting it so wrong, their singles are making no impact, and their popularity is sinking fast.
As a result of free downloads, musicians cannot rely on CDs to make bank hits anymore, and must therefore focus on endorsements and paid performances, which are also heavily reliant on branding.
How can our female musicians attract performances when their songs are nothing to write home about? When it comes to endorsements, do not go there because their brands or images are at the weakest level.

LIFESTYLE: Beauty & The Beau or Beauty & The Beast?-Why Many Beautiful Women Prefer ‘Ugly’ Men

blank

Last week my friend Aisha called me up out of the blue.

We hadn’t seen each other in a long time and since I wasn’t busy, we quickly decided to catch up at a restaurant in the heart of Accra. We ended up meeting three other ladies we knew from high school there so we sat at the same table….after exchanging pleasantries, we cooed about clothes, jewelry, weddings, work and finally the boyfriends!
I love my friends so much as they are intelligent and outspoken young women, and all of us are hot potatoes in every right. I am going to give you the full gist about the scoop on our boyfriends past, paast, paaast, paaaast and present. LOL.
When it comes to the subject of dating, many are the issues and varying personalities, the yardsticks and the distortions, the looks that make us go crazy and the idiosyncrasies behind each and every look!
Kindly bear in mind that I use ugly here, not as an insult to the average looking Joe, but as an adjective strong enough to carry home my point. Also, you may find situations that counter our opinion but remember we are using the majority sample and not the minority.
Now I must say, and you can choose to judge us or laugh along with us but between us 5 ladies, close to a hundred men had waltzed through our lives in one way or the other –Casual sex, Serious relationships, crushes, flirting…name it- so yes, we knew exactly what we were saying.
Now we dwelled mainly on why we would date an ugly man any day instead of a hunk.
Most of the ugly men we had all come across were studious, intelligent and financially stable…They worked hard and made sure they held their place firmly in society.
They also know how to treat a woman right because they appreciate the jewel they have, they literally threw diamonds at our feet. Begging to date us and offer us the world but in the past, because we were rather ignorant, we preferred the good looking men who we realized soon  enough were inherently lazy, broke, pompous, rude, cheats and very arrogant.
The handsome men believe they are so hot, women they date should be the ones chasing and pampering them and appreciating the fact that they are dating them in the first place.
They won’t pull their weight in the relationship, Some of them think a woman should be so happy to date them; they should go as far as taking care of him. And this was confirmed when we placed a call to a hot, mutual male friend who emphatically stated that he would not take care of a woman he is dating because there are many women out there offering to take care of him so he can date them.
My issue was, young man, the woman dating you also has many men after her so should she also succumb to the men who want to take good care of her instead of dating you? No, he said. She is a prostitute or a gold-digger if she does that! Wow, men, such double standards!
Now ladies, why date a man who prefers you pampering him to him pampering you? Why date the annoying, stingy, beau instead of the ugly guy in the corner who is willing to give you the world?

And It Is Another One! Raquel Says She Will Be Reshooting Her Crappy 'Sweetio' Music Video…

blank
Don’t you also wonder who are the people managing some of our Ghanaian musicians when it becomes obvious that some of these musicians do not know what they are up to?
I have always said that Raquel is another disaster surrounded by people I think have no understanding of branding, contemporary music and videos.
Look, I do not know someone like Kiki Banson but from far, I can see the man understands the business of music and artiste management as well as branding.  He delivers quality when it comes to Becca’s career and that is why I careless about either he is indeed chopping down Becca or not. The guy knows what he is about and if Becca has also recognised the value he has added to her raw talent and have decided to give him extras, so be it.
Now back to disastrous Raquel who is being managed by her boyfriend. Music is business for Christ sake and if you have a manager who seems to know nothing about quality delivery, then you are heading go the gutters.
I am getting tired of certain artistes coming out with crappy music videos and then when some of us tell them, backed by their management they some how find non existing defences to justify their mediocre work.
