DStv Mobile, a leading player in the sub-Saharan mobile TV market across all capable portable devices, has introduced a brand new product: the iDrifta. Convenient and easy-to-use, this little gadget is set to enhance mobile TV viewing on popular Apple mobile devices…
Building on the ongoing success of the Drifta, Drifta USB and Walka, DStv Mobile has launched the iDrifta – adding to its range of innovative devices.
“The iDrifta is a plug and play mobile DVB-H receiver specifically designed for Apple mobile devices,” says Edward Kwame Owusu, Country Manager of DStv Mobile, Ghana. “It is portable and lightweight, and will allow users with Apple devices to enjoy all of the great entertainment they’ve come to expect from DStv Mobile.”
Compatible with the iPod 4th generation, iPhone 4/4S and iPad 1/2/3, the iDrifta is simple and intuitive to use. “After plugging it into your iOS device, the application opens automatically and you can start watching DStv Mobile right away,” explains Edward. “This means that viewers with Apple mobile devices can now access our full range of channels anywhere, anytime – from Africa Magic World all the way through to Nat Geo Wild.”
With DStv Mobile committed to remaining at the forefront of innovation, the iDrifta is a natural progression in the company’s strategy: “In order to continue to inspire, entertain and delight our subscribers, it is critical that we offer them the very latest world-class devices,” says Edward. “The fact that Apple’s mobile devices are so popular, and that subscribers using these platforms will now be able to access our offering, makes this launch even more exciting for our brand.”
The iDrifta uses DStv Mobile’s DVB-H signal – currently the most-cutting edge broadcast technology on the market in terms of handheld devices. The device additionally boasts a battery life of 3.5 hours.
“We will also continue using our learnings across Africa to enhance local subscribers’ experiences from both a content and technology perspective. This is a strategy that we’ve built on since first launching in Ghana in 2008,” adds Edward.
In addition to the iDrifta, subscribers can still make use of DStv Mobile’s Drifta, Drifta USB and Walka to enjoy music, sport, general entertainment, news and cartoons on the move – with all of the same great channels available across all of its devices.
The iDrifta device will be available from MultiChoice service centres, select retail outlets and online stores from 6th September 2012.
DStv Mobile coverage is available in Accra and Tema.
