Would Jackie Appiah Be Able To Beat Nadia Buari, Yvonne Okoro, Yvonne Nelson & Others To Win 2012 Best Ghanaian Actress?

Jackie Appiah, Martha Ankomah & Jackie's Husband-Peter Agyemang

I am not sure if we should take Ghana Movie Awards any serious since its organizers are infested with confusion. This year’s edition of the award scheme has been scantily put together in a rush to satisfy its annual occurrence.

Though it is easy to blame the organizers for their lousy organization, I think we should not forget that this year has been nothing more than mediocre in terms of movies produced in Ghana. I can point out any great movie which was produced this year in Ghana (count out Adams Apples). The substandard movies seem to have taken over our movie industry.

When I looked at the list of nominated movies, I couldn’t believe what a junk of movies we have produced this year.

Personally, I think the lack of great movies this year must have made the work of the organizers difficult…

When competition is not fierce and you win, you would eventually begin to doubt yourself if you are really the best. This is what I think will happen to all the winners of this year’s Ghana Movie Awards which was moved from 2nd December to 25th December.

In spite of the above, the ‘Best Actress In  A Lead Role-English’ category has almost all our main actresses in there and as such, it would attract more attention than the other categories.

With almost 20 days to the Awards’ night, predictions have started coming in with people asking if star Actress Jackie Appiah (the one with most awards under her belt among the nominees) can easily beat Yvonne Okoro, Yvonne Nelson, Martha Ankomah and Nadia Buari to become once again Ghana Movie Awards Best Actress or not…

Looking at the movies they have all been nominated for, do you think Jackie Appiah can easily take home the 2012 Best Actress award? If not, who do you think (based on the movies nominated) would win in that category?

Best Actress In  A Lead Role-English

Yvonne Nelson – Single & Married

Martha Ankomah – Tears Of A Smile

Jackie Appiah – Grooms Bride

Nana Akua Addo – Wanna Be

Yvonne Okoro – 3 Some

Nadia Buari – Rain

  1. Jackie is sometimes just overrated. Anyway, as you rightly said, all the nominated movies are junk. Just the ‘wannabe’ movie  that made my day because of its comic nature. But if Jackie would be able to beat……….. can’t tell. Didn’t like the grooms bride that much so…………….

  2. I have seen all the movies above and they all got something even though the brooms bride had a good story line and well played by both Majid and jackie I have to say that the brooms bride can’t really compete with the movie her acting was a bit boring  “rain” feat Nadia and single &married, single and married is a great story all actress and actors played it well story was on point it’s its a must see movie which allot of people can relate to it and learn something out of it I’m not saying this because I dislike jackie but its the truth as for the movie “wanne be” it was a fun movie full of comedy and drama but I don’t think it’s up for an award my pick goes to Yvonne Nelson even though she is been hated by the media she will and can be a good producer one day 3 some was not really my cup of tea neither was “tears of a smile” and its about time people stop overrating Jackie cause she is slowly sinking she can make movies al around the world but that does not make her the best she has already been taking of the billboards and replaced by John dumelo, it’s about time GC or any website stop hyping her up and what’s the deal with the above picture you got 6 names up there but yet put her picture only try and do some editing and put all of them on the front page or at least something that represent your topic

    I rest my case

    1. @Dr. Miyagi, BROS MERRY X´MAS IN ADVANCE, ALL THAT JACKIE KNOWS BEST IS TO ACT PORNO ,NO WONDER HER MARRIAGE CRUMBLED .CAN SHE WIN AWARD ON HER OWN ? HOW MANY OF HER SO CALLED MOVIES HAS EVEN GOTTEN NOMINATIONS ? YEYE THING.

  3. Nadia Buari cant act for shit, let me put it out there, faking accents doesnt make you a good actress, the others are all mediocre, Jackie seems to be the only one who stands out, shes going to win again.

  4. WATCH NONE OF THE MOVIES YET CUZ IT SEEMS THEY CANT STOP SHOOT TOO MUCH MOVIES IN GHANA IN A YEAR.ALTHOUGH I LOVE JACKIE FOR ACTING AND PERSONALITY,I THINK NANA AKUA SHUD WIN FOR WANNABE MOVE SHE WAS FUNNY AND REAL IN THE ADVERT,FOR SINGLE AND MARRIED TOO VULGER FOR MY LIKING

  5. hmmmmmmmmm wishin all of dem the best.. i pray My Jackie wins… if not den Nadia buari… Yvonne Nelson is a great actress too… Yvonne Okoro actin skills sound too old to me.. no acyion… I prefer Jackie or Nadia… i like Nadia cos she has an innocent face

  6. am a fun of jackie appiah, but seriousely speaking, looking at the movies presented, the grooms bride has a nice storyline but jackie couldnt convince me with her acting, the other lady did far too well. Jackie just has the name, y nelson and y okoro are not bad but in a competetive situation in reference to the movies presented and personal abilities, i think nadia should win.

  7. Jackie will surely win again. The other actresses are no competition to her. If anyone at all is overrated, then it is Nadia. She has no acting talent yet she is everywhere. Even the Yvonnes are much much better than Nadia. I don’t see any bright future for Nadia in the movie industry. She should just stop acting and start hawking on the streets cos i guess that is her talent.
