2012 Elections In Ghana: What My Mother Just Told Me….Do You Agree With Her?

blank

I just got off the phone with my mother-Theresah Addo Kwapong in Ghana and I have decided to share what she said to me. I called to see how she was doing since she is a strong NPP supporter. I clearly remember how she used to shout into my ears that I am a time waster (because I am a die hard PNC supporter and have always been campaigning for them).

When I called her a few minutes ago, she told me that…”there is this woman staying near her house, she has no pistol pestle or mortar (which she comes to borrow hers each evening to pound her fufu) and yet the woman voted for NDC…So she won’t give her the pistol and mortar again!” LOL…

I was like ‘but you are the women’s leader of the Church of Pentecost and so you can’t do that’. She paused for a few seconds and said ‘this is not about God, I worked hard to buy my own pistol and mortar, she should buy hers too if she voted for NDC’.

Do you agree with my mother? Geez! Elections in Ghana come with a lot of wahala…

  1. After elections, we are all GHs, tell mommy to chill and give her neighbour her mortar and pistol. Afterall, NPP did well, what about my comedian Ayariga, who D-Black made a remix for on twitter? Ayariga: OH GHANA! EBE ME WEY YOU DO ME LIDAT…….EH, SO LIDAT. But you mum has a nice sense of humour though, I don’t think she means that

  4. In this modern Ghana people are still borrowing ,
And because of election your mum has refused to rent her pistol or borrow ….

Any way tell your mum it just a slight pain and there will be people who voted for npp but still borrow one or two things from neighbors just like those who voted for ndc.

  5. I agree with your mother chris, the POOREST of the poorest and ILLITERATES voted for ndc, the little money they gave them and gifts did the trick, next time she comes around to borrow from your mum, she shd tell her to go to mahama n ask for money to buy pistol n mortar, nonsense

    • @Ball so hard miss dior, hahahhahahhaha,my dear i cant help but laugh, but seriously Ghana we really have a long way to go paaooo?our biggest problem is literacy, when they can read and write and understand what governance means it will help us alot to develop as a nation,we have everything any country needs to grow yet the masses suffer to buy common things like pestle while the few keep getting rich.

  6. Hmmmmm chris for a minute i felt like you were talking about my own mom,as for her even if they paint a bird in NPP party colours and present it to her in Takoradi, she will vote for the bird.she is a die hard NPP woman and she does not hide it at all,I remember during early 90s,when ever we watched tv with her and J.J Rawlings appeard on the television, she will put it off and we all have to go to bed by force,to her the history of PNDC,NDC,the kuuditar, the brutalities, sufferings, hunger and murders, the point where she had to cue just to buy sugar and uncooked kenke and the fact that she will not even reach home before some soldiers will give her some slaps and take the sugar and kenke away from her are still very fresh in her mind.she also witnessed the killings of those top Judges that were murdered in cold blood at that time,so as for my mom,she hates NDC with a passion and i think that will never change till she passes on.even with the reconciliation ex prez kufuor organised some years back did not change her mind and yes i agree with your mom on this one,let that woman go and buy her own things cos a vote for that party only means things are well with her and if all is well with her under NDC,then she should be able to afford common basic things like pistol and mortar and also be able to pay the fees of her kids to go to school.Tell mon that as for this one,she is right.

  7. HAHAHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, CHRIS WAIT TILL YOU MEET MY GRANDMUM, À DIE HARD NDC MEMBER PAA. I REMEMBER SOMEWHERE IN KUFFOUR’S REGIME WHEN THE ” KUFFOUR BUSES ” WERE OPERATING. MY GRANDMUM WENT TO ACCRA, AND ON HER WAY BACK, ITWAS RAINING HEAVILY THAT THERE WAS NO AVAILABLE VEHICLE APART FROM ” KUFFOUR’S BUS ” COULD YOU BELIEVE BECAUSE SHE WAS AN NDC MEMBER SHE REFUSED TO BOARD THE BUS, BUT RATHER ALLOWED THE RAIN TO BEAT HER MERCILESSLY IN THE NAME OF POLITICS?
WE HAVE À LOOOOOOOOOOOONG WAY TO GO IN OUR POLITICAL DIFFERENCES. SERIOUS!

  15. Heheehee, that’s really funny! Your mum is an interesting lady! But seriously people, I think that we must all unite and stop saying someone is ‘illiterate or poor’ because they vote for a particular party. Trust me, educated people voted for NPP and educated people voted for NDC. The fact that you don’t agree with someone’s ideology doesn’t mean they’re dumb! Nana had a lot of good policies (eg. free SHS) but there were some educated people who felt that the structure for this policy had not been well thought out or delineated (eg. Bright Simmons and IMANI). it doesn’t mean they were dumb! just means they had a different opinion. Seriously guys, let’s learn to respect other opinions and agree to disagree. One Ghana!

  16. Chris, Tell your mom to stop lending the woman her stuff. i bet she will still survive. The fact that the woman is poor does not mean she is stupid. Her right to choose who to vote for is her constitutional right. Maybe next time your Nana Akuffo Addo will stop speaking English like you do. No one understands his Jargons except him.

  17. This is a funny story,i don,t support any party because after they get our votes they always forget about those who help them to get to where they are, please tell your mum to be patiant other wise she will get blood pressure,it pains but she should forget it and love her neighbour as herself.
