Are Your New Year’s Resolutions Achievable Or Over-Ambitious?

blank

So the fireworks and churches have gone quiet and it’s just you and your thoughts, you alone with the broken dreams and failures of the past year. Brooding and feeling down.

So you start to write a list, delete, write again. You start to make yourself promises and promise yourself really hard to be all that you see yourself doing and becoming in your minds eye. You truly mean well for yourself.

But how achievable are your resolutions? Are you just talking because everybody is saying something or do you really mean business? We all need to grow and what better way than to set goals and put deadlines to them? But it is absolutely necessary to keep them achievable and have a route to achieving them.

For example, my friend said she wants to marry Sonnie Badu in 2013…I am like what?

Seriously my dear?  Not that he is unattainable or bad to want but the fact is, my friend doesn’t even know where he worships, lives, eats, sleeps…nothing! And more so, he just announced he is getting married anyway. So you see what I call ridiculous?

Let’s examine over ambition…You cannot be sitting in a classroom in Bimbila learning how to spell your name and still saying your New Year’s resolution is to become the president of the United States. Fact is, where are you even going to start from? You could at least first aim at learning how to write that name perfectly first. Now that’s achievable…

I know Chris-Vincent has been staking lotto small small so perhaps his New Year’s resolution could include winning big in the lottery! LoL. Now that could be possible if he is willing to concentrate, play the numbers and stake hard and steel his heart for perhaps the initial losses…

Anyway, Lets get to my resolutions which I consider achievable…

Kick me down to earth if you think I am being over ambitious.

  1. To indulge myself more in life. Stop holding back and thinking twice about everything. I have resolved to have more fun , travel more and learn from other cultures.
  2. I intend to step up my fashion sense. Be caught looking damn good as often as possible-I discussed this with a male friend who said I shouldn’t dare look any hotter but I know what I want and I believe we should constantly upgrade as women. Clean up, tweak here and tweak there to fine-tune towards the bigger picture. you know!

Why? Because that’s a prelude to my second resolution of attracting the best Husband. Because yea, I am not getting any younger! 😀 So don’t trip on this the feminists around here. Just laugh with me.

  1. I will expand my two year old beauty business to include related ideas, a step towards my resolution to make more money.
  2. Spend more time at the gym. Presently I spend an hour and half, 3 days a week. So I am going to include an extra day.  I read somewhere how Beyonce works out 6 times a week and I asked myself, “if Bey works out 6 days a week, who am I to slack?”
  3. I also intend to write more for GhanaCelebrities.Com and take up an extra job. Got to rake in as much or more than I spend. Sound sensible?
  4. I have resolved to change the décor in my apartment. Make it friendlier to the eye.
  5. Spend more time with my parents.
  6. Eat healthier. Cut down on the banku and fufu and eat more fruits, grains, vegetables, seafood…
  7. Be more charitable. Help as many people as I can instead of wallowing in painful empathy at the cries and sighs of the world.

Too much? Naa, It may seem like a lot but the bulk of it is little things. Little things that will make a big difference and make me feel more fulfilled.

So let’s hear what you think should be eliminated or added to my list. And remember to tell us yours!

Happy New Year again GC readers, keep dancing and keep pouring the wine.
