After Spending The Weekend In Jail, Agya Koo Has Been Granted Bail Over Alleged Visa Fraud

Popular Ghanaian actor and comedian, Agya Koo must have had a long weekend as he spent weekend in police custody following his arrest over an alleged visa fraud .

News reaching GhanaCelebrities.Com is that, Agya Koo and his fans can put up a smile as the comedian has been granted bail to the tune of 20,000 Ghana cedis with two sureties to reappear before court on Tuesday, January 22.

Agya Koo appeared before the Accra Circuit Court today, facing charges of conspiracy to commit crime, to wit, migrant smuggling, and defrauding by false pretenses.

Famous Ghanaian lawyer-Nkrabeah Effah Datteh who appeared in Court with Agyaa Koo as his council appealed to the judge to grant his client bail since the charges do not involve murder nor narcotics.

Agya Koo reported himself to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service at 10 a.m. Friday, January 18, 2013 but the actor was arrested and placed in police custody until Monday.

Agya Koo was arrested as a result of an alleged case of fraud which a certain Stephen Kwarteng brought against him. The complainer-Stephen Kwarteng filed a report that, Agyaa Koo had taken GHc3,800 from him on the pretext of helping him travel to the United States of America (USA).

Reports say, since  last Friday, 13 more people have reported to the police that each of them has been defrauded of $1,850 by Agya Koo  under the pretext of securing US visas for them.
