Do we have to ‘sow a seed’ before God grants our needs? We now live in an era where we have to ‘bribe’ God before he gives us what he has promised. If you’re lucky enough not to know what sowing of seed is, it is the ‘special offering’ certain Pastors ask when you’re in need of something from God. It is not the usual offering and tithes we pay, something different and most of the time, they tell you the amount God wants you to give.
“If you have a need sow”, that is the gospel of greed being preached these days. Any prophecy they give, you are encouraged to claim it and run to the altar, remember not with empty hands, but with money if you want that prophecy to come to pass in your life (sound familiar)? Some even go as far as telling people to “Give out of their need.”
Some churches are very good, apart from the offering and tithe, they don’t ask for anything more. I have witnessed a Pastor saying that “God does not need your offering this morning, He needs your worship.” And it is true. If you worship in a church like this, out of the generosity of your heart, you can donate to the church when the need arises.
Churches have made sinning so easy because they have consciously or unconsciously taught people that money can cleanse you of your sins, money can get you a job, money can get you a husband and the list continues. How can a man of God tell an unemployed man who has gone for ‘counselling’ that God has requested the man to sow a seed to quickly make way for him to be employed? God in his infinite wisdom knows very well that the man is unemployed, so why challenge him to something he is not capable of doing?
Money is needed in the church, no two ways about that, but what we are witnessing recently is not a ‘need’ but greed. When you watch some of these Christian channels on TV, they repeat the same thing. They will tell you to sow a seed of faith and reap a harvest of blessing. To me, this is just to manipulate people who dream of becoming millionaires overnight.
As a resulting of this concept of seed sowing, certain Pastors’ pockets are growing and the congregants are getting poorer. When these Pastors forget is that, when the blessings do not come as promised, it weakens the faith of the giver and therefore calls God a liar, but in actual fact, it is these Pastors who are telling the lies.
They grab a scripture verse from the bible and creatively twist them into another gospel. A Pastor recently came under fire for telling his congregation to sow and expect a 24-hour blessing. Any straight thinking person will know that greed is talking.
Today, deception of every kind is deeply entrenched in the church, like a deadly cancer, difficult if not impossible to remove.
So remember, their greed is your seed! Anytime you are asked to sow a seed, ask yourself if God really needs your seed…Are you being asked to sow a seed before God answers your prayers?
Oh yea, I am not going to mention any names, but this practice is common with so many churches, especially some of the bigger charismatic ones in Ghana that have expanded to overseas. You have to sow a seed, otherwise no blessings would ever come upon you. They will use Bible quotations and ensure that it rhymes well with their request. And they can make you feel guilty or stupid when you are not able to. That you will do all it takes to sow a seed. I have a friend who is with one of these known churches, and in that church, that is the main doctrine. Come to the alter and sow a seed, otherwise….. Well, I did it when I didn’t understand the Bible too. But glory be to God that I do no more! Now, I am learning the scriptures with the help of my pastor husband, and since he has studied in many theological/seminary schools in America, he is much more aware of how some of these pastors interpret the scripture to rob us of our earnings. God is a giving God. No amount of seed can make him do any differently. What he actually requires of us is obedience to the fullest. When you are obedient to his laws, blessings come, and then thanksgiving follows. It is never his desire to have us sow seed before we are blessed. My people, unless we actually arm ourselves with knowledge and truly sort out the real men of God to worship with, we will be taken for granted. Peace to everyone.
SOME OF THESE PASTORS WILL MAKE YOU FEEL THE ONLY WAY GOD CAN BLESS YOU IS TO PAY YOUR TITHES. THEY CAN MAKE YOU EVEN STEAL TO PAY TITHES.
Hmm, boldness boldness. The author is very bold. I have been in a church were the pastor said, “don’t come and do £5 pounds here.” Pastors complain that people like moving from one church to the other but it is not good. What they fail to understand is that, they are making people church prostitutes because of their behaviour. Some churches are good as the writer rightly pointed out, you will have no qualms when giving.
@nat, TRUE! THEY WILL EVEN COMPEL YOU TO DO THE UNTHINKABLE INORDER TO PAY YOUR TITHES.
@KA NE WU, when you complain they will quickly tell you that the bible says ‘touch not my annointed and do my prophets no harm’. What about ‘touch those i have not called and using my name to defraud people’? That is why i mentioned that the author is very bold

Sowing a seed is not comporsory as good loves a cheerful giver if a pastor asks you to sow and u dnt feel like it dnt do it because thinking twice about giving to God in its own is a curse however paying tith is a command God requires us to do it with tith, there is no ways about it he said 10% of your earnings after tax is belongs to God. There is a passage in the bible where God tells us that we have robbed him with tith. He said when You pay it, the windows of heaven would be open to you. It doesn’t mean he wouldn’t bless those that don’t because his mercies are upon us all but those that pays receives the blessings that comes with it. I know a lot of people sho are not pastors and testifies about the payment of tith. As long as u have earnings 10% of that belongs to God thats what is to be used to run the church. Lack of knowledge my people perish he says.
