POS Foundation Wants Chris Brown Arrested For The Smoking Of Illegal Substance-Marijuana Whiles Performing In Ghana + My Thoughts!

A civil group organisation in Ghana-The Perfector of Sentiments Foundation (POS) that empowers the youth and promotes the right of children and the less privilege has registered their  displeasure about the utterly disregard of the laws of Ghana by Chris Brown during the ‘Hope City’ concert in Ghana 2 days ago.

According to the group, Chris Brown’s action-openly smoking an illegal substance on stage and encouraging the thousands of people at the concert to also go out and smoke weed is a criminal offence which he must be punished for…

In a statement issued and signed by Executive Director Jonathan Osei-Wusu, POS said, “We wish to draw specific attention to the unfortunate incident of a world renowned musician Chris Brown openly smoking marijuana (weed) an illegal substance while engaged in a performance on such national platform. He is on video to have encouraged the audience to take up arms against people who stand in their way to smoking weed”.

The statement continued: “In as much as we want to refrain from calling up clauses of our constitution, the sovereign law of the land, it is a well-known fact that the possession and smoking of marijuana is illegal. In our prisons, many are incarcerated for same. Our values as a nation do not condone such acts”.

The group added, “We believe as a nation, that when acts of this kind go unpunished they serve as a drive to sour others on. We all are aware of the stance taken by the police in times gone by for the possession and smoking of marijuana by other people when these matters have come to light. In July of 2012, Ghana’s highest decision making body, parliament outlawed smoking in public places not to think of nothing less but an illegal substance”.

Would Chris Brown have done the same in the UK or USA at an open concert? Surely not…When you have a country like Ghana where law and order means nothing to the rich, what do you expect?

The principle of equality before the law is unheard of in Ghana and I bet Chris Brown is out there laughing his butt off.

Few years ago (March, 2010), The Tema Circuit Court presided over by Mrs Laurenda Owusu, sentenced a 38-year old labourer, Sulley Bawa, to three years imprisonment for smoking weed.

3 years down the line, Chris Brown even does worse-smoking and rallying others to go out there to do it (commits 2 criminal offences) with several witnesses and video evidences, and he is a FREE man.

Even if Chris Brown did not know the smoking of weed is a crime in Ghana, this does not amount to a defence in law since ignorance of the law is no excuse.

Also, if it is claimed by the organizers (which I know they will put up the argument) the substance was not weed, the fact that he rallied others to go out there to smoke an illegal substance and demonstrated on stage as smoking such a substance in itself is a prosecutable offense.

Why are we bothering ourselves when we know nothing would be done to the dude for breaking the law? He even won’t render a simple apology!

What sort of Ghana are we building?
