Weekly Discussion, Let’s Get Talking: Calling Vrs Texting, Which Do You Prefer & Why?

Black woman

I hear from many of my friends each day without having to listen to their voices. Sometimes I miss the voices behind the messages but I am able to keep in touch even when I cannot talk…

This is what texting does for me.

Apart from the fact that texting is cheap and sometimes even free-WhatsApp and others. It is a more relax and convenient way of communicating.

However, it has it short falls. Not only is it annoying when a friend tries to have a long conversation with you via text, it can hurt your fingers too. Sometimes, I am forced to read pages of text messages from friends when they could have just called and tell me the story in 2 minutes.

Also, texting sucks when the other person at the other side of the phone is playing game with words and your mind. A word can be interpreted to mean many things in the world of text messaging.

And you cannot avoid that awkward moment when you would mistakenly send a text message to the wrong person…

I remember sending a text message meant for my best female friend to a guy I was interested in. And it read ‘Akos, I am too horny tonight, any guy who makes the mistake will get his d..k eaten up like a vampire’.

After hitting the send button, I nearly hanged myself. Don’t ask me what happened because the guy never picked my calls again. I guess he thought I am one desperate cheap girl…

Now when it comes to calling, it has its own disadvantages too. It can be expensive compared to text messaging.

And I am sure you’ve been in that mood when you do not want to talk but will surely reply to a text message…right? You have to be in a mood to talk…

Again, certain things can easily be written. You may find it difficult to talk about certain things via voice, but can freely discuss them via text messages.

One important thing I love about calling is the fact that you can connect the voice to the persona and be able to establish the mood of people.
