Are Ghanaian guys more tight-fisted? Hmm, I’ve never given a thought to this issue before; until a very popular Ghanaian disc jockey mentioned that Ghanaians are too tight. He compared the spending habits/attitude of Ghanaians and a neighbouring country. The women obviously agreed with him and the men started grumbling.
Asking a guy, he said, the men are not stingy but careful with money. He explained that there is the traditional African notion that it is the responsibility of a man to handle all marriage and household expenses, even when it is clear that the woman’s job or income is much better than that of the man.
Also, many Ghanaian women only look for men who are ready to splash their money on them. Consequently, they ignore those who are genuinely in love with them but are not very financially sound. In the end, they are taken for a ride by the so-called wealthy dudes and thus return to “square one” (where they were before – singleness).
Most Ghanaian women, no matter how financially sound they are, prefer men with good jobs and good salary to those doing menial jobs or struggling to get jobs.
