POLITRICKS OF THE DAY: NPP Vrs John Mahama Case- Afari Gyan Confesses-Our Mistakes Left A Few People Disenfranchised

Afari Gyan

Ghanaians all over the world are patiently waiting for the outcome of the on-going Supreme Court election petition.

Each day in court comes with a shocking finding or revelation.

Despite both parties having strong belief that they will win the case, our prayer is that whatever judgment the Supreme Court gives go down well with the nation so that we can all re-unite once this is over and move Ghana forward.

PeaceFmOnline Reports;

Chairman for the Electoral Commission of Ghana, Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan on Thursday shockingly admitted in court that the EC faced enormous challenges during the compilation of the 2012 provisional voter register leading to the disenfranchisement of some members of the electorate.

Out of the error they made, Dr. Afari Gyan stated that the Electoral Commission disenfranchised some people though minute in number.

He explained that during the period of compiling the provisional voter register, they noticed that some areas showed zero registration; meaning that no one registered there. He also added that some areas showed low voter turnout as against what the EC anticipated.

“There was a case someone used a wrong code in Kumasi and some of the people were thrown to Agona Nsaba”. “Try as we did, we didn’t get all the people”, he confessed.

In order not to disenfranchise the people through the errors on the part of the EC, Dr. Afari Gyan told the court that his staff went ahead to register the people for the second time in about the four hundred polling stations that were affected by the error.

“We went back and did what we call special registration or special inclusion”, he said.

Through the special registration process, Dr. Afari Gyan maintained that they managed to retrieve about eleven thousand voter names unto their data base.

He however made it clear that though the EC was able to recapture that significant number of misplaced voters, they certainly knew that they couldn’t “capture everybody who took part in the original registration” exercise.

  1. Look at what this old attah kwame man is saying, telling the whole world and Ghanaians that there was mistakes in the elections, a huge sum of money was given to you to perform a clean job, and look at how you have mixed things up and also produced a lots of mistakes in the elections, from my point of view you have been doing these since Rawlings time, deceiving Ghanaians for all our elections. Remember the bible talks about for the wages of sin is death so you better come out clean and confess totally before you join your ancestors. Shame on you old man May God punish you till you open up again.
