OBS: According To World Health Organisation, 8 Out Of 10 Nigerian Women Bleach Their Skin (VIDEO)

Tonto Dikeh1

Aljazeera recently took a look at Nigeria’s booming skin bleaching market and shockingly, they mentioned that according to the World Health Organization, 8 out of 10 Nigeria women bleach their skin.

What a staggering statistic!

Gradually, skin bleaching is taking over Africa and the ease at which skin bleaching products can be obtained has made it worst.

The stigma attach to skin bleaching which served as a sort of block in Africa has died off—-and today, you cannot even tell if a person is bleaching or not as most opt for untraceable modern creams/pills.

And famous Nigerian musician-Femi Kuti supports my all time argument that—-skin toning is the same as skin bleaching, just that people like Yvonne Nelson and the millions out there are trying to avoid societal criticisms by calling their sort of skin bleaching-skin toning!

I’ve heard people say,  I do not bleach, I just tone by skin.

I have seen people buy skin toning creams and they think it is cool. You know what, the application of anything/cream to your skin to change its colour or transform your skin from the original state to a new state (no matter how little the change will be) is SKIN BLEACHING.

Have you realized that all these people who bleach/tone their skin have some funny smell following them?

I am told that MOST of the mixed race people, especially the celebrities who live in tropical Africa bleach too—just to be able to keep their light skin…

Have you noticed the difference between Majid Michel’s skin and that of Nadia Buari? They’ve all live in Ghana, under the same scorching sun…right?

Watch out the report below…

  2. Im not surprised nigerians are shallow africans and this video proves it, Majority of Nigerian women don’t even know how to keep themselves clean and stink really bad, you seriously don’t want to see some of their girls panties most of them are so poorly informed, yet they claim to be smart

Nigerians are just bad markets. They smell, most are ugly and fragile and very fake. They are protesting against their Creator and therefore running from themselves. No wonder why Naija people look like albino chimpanzees take people like Tonto she looks so peel on top of it she puts 4 inch thick make up looking like a dead corpse the only Nigerian I can say I respect is Mercy Johnson at least she keeps it real stop insulting God and be happy with what God bless you bunch Of smelly Kobi’s

    • @Miyagi Atopahene, I so much like your display of illiteracy, most importantly on the issues which you have no knowledge of. Sometimes, Its makes me laugh and I feel comfortable seeing an idiot displaying such act. Let me educate you on issues I have knowledge of. We all talking about bleaching which affects we blacks, you mentioned majority of Nigerian women not knowing how to keep themselves clean and stink really bad, Really!!! come on Man.. And I guess you so much have love for them or was it in your dream.. OOooohhhh I shouldn’t be asking you such question, you take care of undies! BEAUTIFUL!!!! You’re one helluva sadist on the net, on the next paragraph you said Nigerians are just bad markets… I guess you’ve never been to Nigeria to see for yourself other than sitting behind a computer like a sadist you are commenting rubbish after watching Aljazeera which always display the bad side of we Africans.. What a jerk!

How can over 170 million citizens of a country be bad market and where is the I’m not insulting every single Nigerian there. I guess you passed through English and not the other way round. Well I’ve heard many saying there’s no tradition and culture in Ghana, that’s why It’s on a rampage married women sleeping around, teenage pregnancies, uneducated and most of the infant ends up in sack bags which I was so fortunate to witnessed when I came to Ghana and do you know Ghanaian girls are the cheapest in the world and very high rate of Illiteracy, I’ve seen alot. When next you see a Ghanaian girl, look closely her face, legs and fingers you’ll notice what I have noticed which is the difference in colors due to bleaching, or please check your sisters or your fiancée you’ll see bleaching not forgetting the stretch marks except if they’re not. I’ve seen how y’all are slaves to common Indians, Lebanese and Chinese in your own soil. I’ve seen lots of post here which requires comments and no comment from y’all but when It comes to issue like this, y’all want castigatio on the citizens. What a shame when common sense isn’t exactly common. PEACE Y’ALL. GOD BLESS AFRICA AND WHOLE WORLD.

    • Hey my friend I am black American. I just happened to find this website by chance. After reading your put down of Nigerians. I don’t like it not all I don’t how much information you have read about the history of Blacks in America. You are just like the whites we have to endure and have endured for 400 years. Just like you refer to Naiija people people who are black African like you, looking like monkeys white have portrayed black Americans the same way. That is why we after the effects of slavery and Jim Crow resorted to using skin bleach and hair straighteners trying to find favor from a race of malicious and predatory beings. Trying to alter that black natural beauty god passed to us from our lost ancestors in Africa. What we have today in 2014 is a massive problem among African Americans about colorism people who think light skin and white European facial features and long straight hair is the only why to go. It is so bad that one prominent black psychologist called colorism “a major mental health crisis” in Black America and there are black writers and black social activists who travel across the United States and hold seminars inviting blacks attend and try helping them overcome this problem. I have always been very interested in African affairs because I do have lost family lineage that is connected to your country. I am disappointed that you all bicker like you do and even more sorry that you hold attitudes about each other that are identical to racist whites who occupy this planet. I am not making fun of you just trying to be a bit nosey and give a little advice. I wish you would do a “google images search” type in “racist ways blacks were portrayed in advertising and media in America. Look the horrific images of how whites
publicly distorted Black Americans they made use look like ugly twisted beings that is why many blacks in this country have a terrible self image of themselves and many try to bleach their skin or alter their facial features. I hope you and others who read this will take time to study and see what malicious whites did to our minds and tried to make us feel inferior. And in parting I have never seen pictures of any ugly black Africans. I think you all are pretty so much there are many tribal cultures over there that have beauty that is astounding. you take care now.

        • @Sarah, you shut up, many Ghanaians bleach too. I remember an article on this website mentioning the several Ghanaian actress that are bleaching. So remove the dirt in your eye before looking at another person’s. And also many Nigerians are proud of their dark skin. Bleaching is a problem that not only affects Nigeria but every other African country and even blacks in the U.S.

This Aljazeera report was aired months ago and @Chris just found it now?
The truth is that most female body creams imported into Africa have bleaching elements and Nigerian women are the most fashionable in Africa.
When White men go into the sun just to darken their skin, they call it ‘tanning’ and we accept and never accuse them of trying to be white.
Abeg make una go siddon jare….
Lots of Nigerians are naturally light skinned, I dare people here to google the word ‘RED EBOE’

    • @Nword, same way in ghana, some  ewes, fantes, Gas, akuapims, and even some ashantis come out lightskinned so what is the big deal about some ibos being lighkinned. naturally light skinne people are found in almost every african country not just nigeria. it still does refute the fact that most nigerians bleach. i dare you to count the number of actresses in Nollywood with their natural color especially the light skinned ones last time i checked majority of Nollywood actresses are ibos right?. i also dare you to check pictures of  nigerian women at an event at bellanaija and see how you see with their natural color. all you see is dark nuckles and knees.

  13. The hatred between Ghanaians and Nigerians is appalling and honestly disgusting. I’m from neither country but this back and forth hatred  and trash-talk is one of the reasons why many African countries fail to progress substantially. Honestly where does all these negativities get you? Nowhere…..just stuck in stupid argument about who’s better than the other. Who f******* cares? If most of you must know Africans and African Americans are not the only people in the world that bleach. If you do the research you’ll know that many other people like Indians and Asians also bleach their skin. The universal infatuation with “whiteness” is a phenomenon i doubt will ever change because from the very beginning of time we are taught that “the white skin” is inferior to others. I’m not one to believe that notion and i commend others who don’t as well but honestly people let people be. I’m not one to judge because honestly to each is own…what you do is none of my business as long as you are not hurting any one along the way.

But please fellow Africans quit with the disgusting and derogatory comments about each other. It really only hinders us a continent. At the end of the day whether you are white, yellow, coffee, chocolate, light-skinned, dark chocolate, or whatever type of skin color that people claim to be, when you cut us open we have the same shit inside us all.

Well we have lots of natural light skinned people in Nigeria, but been light doesn’t make you the most beautiful. 15. 8 out of 10 Nigeria women bleach their skin..hahahahaha what foolishness. do you know what 8 out of 10 means? And a foreign station program that has nothing but negativity to say about Africa. You must be kidding me. 8 out of 10 means that almost all the ladies in Nigeria should be brown by now, or light skinned. We shouldn’t be having dark skins at this point in Nigeria. In fact this blogger should have asked himself and do the maths 8 out of 10 is like 80% of the female population, what a laugh.

Anyways before the Europeans the Ibos, Fulani’s are known to be light skinned. So if a researcher from a western TV program comes with this foolishness and this blogger agrees , he should get his head examined, because 80% is a large number of people from a population or over 180 million, the women make up more than half the population. so what do you think 8 out of 10 should be like?

Well for all you ladies and Gents who have nothing to do with your cyber time, please becareful of what the foreign media says. Nigeria Ghana should be tight. brothers and sisters. This jealousy is really really getting out of hand. Stay blessed Africa, one love.
