Close Look At Ama K Abebrese + She Takes A BIG Knock Against Skin Bleaching/Toning In Ghana

All over Ghana, various billboards which are directly and indirectly promoting skin bleaching—-sometimes cunningly called skin toning have been mounted.

Without any strict regulations out there to clamp down on these huge advertisement boards which can be seen by all—including young teenagers who may be struggling to accept their complexion, the number of boards keep increasing.

Award winning Ghanaian actress-Ama K. Abebrese who has in the past spoken against any form of skin bleaching/lightening took to her instagram page 2 days ago to slam down a bleaching billboard advert she came across.

Posting the photo of the billboard (photo below), the actress wrote;

“One of the many #skinbleaching billboards in Ghana. This one uses a non black woman with fair skin, and tells black women that, ‘Your dreams come true’. The message here to black women is that, if you bleach or ‘tone’ your skin to be whiter, then, it will be a dream come true.

It’s not only offensive to women in general but condescending especially to black women. This message will sadly reach many females and especially young girls. Beauty comes in many different skin tones. #saynotoskinbleaching #loveyournaturalskintone #campaign”

If all our Ghanaian celebrities can take such a strong stand against skin bleaching, we are sure an impact can be made.

Following her little campaign against bleaching, Ama K. Abebrese has confidently shared a close-up photo of herself—-probably to tell her fans to be proud of themselves and embrace their skin colour!

  2. AMA MUST BE VERY COURAGEOUS TO WAGE THIS WAR. IT MIGHT BREED HER ENEMIES, SINCE HER OWN COLLEAGUES IN THE SHOWBIZ INDUSTRY ARE INTO SKIN BLEACHING/TONING. KUDOS AMA!

  3. Bleaching is booming like hell right now… Yvonne nelson mama of skin bleaching ( now turned into Nadia buari’s color) luckie lawson grand mother of skin bleaching, Mzbel ashawo of skin bleaching, Daddy Lumba grand father of Skin bleaching, Sandra Ankobiah wannabe of skin bleaching. Does these people know’s the complications behind all these creams? Is it a damn crime to be tumtum or what? isn’t Becca a black beauty with her natural color? Even Jackie’s smooth complexion. and Ama k”s beautiful skin with make up. So why the hell cant you all be your damn self but rather love bleaching? Shameless celebrities.

  4. If I want to mention names, I will need 3 sheets to do so. All the fair and mixed race Ghanaian celebrities namely Nadia Buari, Juliet Ibrahim, Van Vicker, Nikki Samonas, Joselyn Dumas and others ARE all BLEACHING.

    Apart from Majid Michel which we can all see is not bleaching, the rest are using creams to keep their so called fair colour fair under Ghana’s hot sun.

    When it comes to the black celebrities turn obroni, Yvonne Nelson is in the lead. Nana Ama Mcbrown, Pascaline Edwards, Yvonne Okoro has started too and the rest are doing it.

    Ama is damn brave because almost all the women around her are doing it including her own friend or cousin Menaye Donkor.

    Bleaching dea, it is the most profitable business in Ghana

  10. Am upset! Must we suffer cuz a black skin girl made her choice? I use this product its good for me. I buy it on the US market. In case Ama K did not notice, the lady on the board is not BLACK skin. Neither is she under age.I know its a dream come true for the one who introduced me. For it cleared her acne n pinples. What,?must we all suffer bcuz some people are born Black Skin?
    Its for us light skin so pls drop these hates! Use ur nkuto n leave us alone! To us its no bleaching so if it offends Ama she can bill board cream for black skin girls
