Have you ever sat down to think about how we got ourselves into the mess we are in? I mean where the whole white supremacy, light skin being beautiful than black and the sort of cuteness we find in long hair/weave among black people come from?

I reflected through this due to an article I stumbled upon today which talked about the uproar rapper Ludacris’ girlfriend-Eudoxie caused online when she recently posted on her Instagram account a photo of her sister packing some dolls to be given out to children in Africa (Gabon) as part of a charity trip.

And guess what, the dolls were all white with long silky hair.

I am sure we all had one of such dolls when we were kids and mostly played with their long non-African hair.

What do you think such dolls which are given to children as young as a year old do the self esteem and what they grow up to embrace as perfection, beauty and adorable?

After reading some of the comments the photo received, I am compelled to accept that this is how it all began—-how the indoctrination of black people hating themselves started.

What do you think? If you do not think such white dolls which are forced on or given to infants have contributed to the numerous self esteem issues black people are battling with, what do you think is the caused?

Won’t it help black kids to embrace themselves if they are given more and more of black dolls with features of their kind?
