THE BIG QUESTION: Should Women Be Rated/Tagged According To Their Dressing?

Gabrielle Union

People always say you’re what you wear….But is that always the case? People tend to judge who a lady is by the way she’s dressed. Either she is an attention seeker, ‘cheap’ girl (I’m yet to understand who and what makes a cheap girl) or generally not fashionable enough.

Dressing is not about attracting but to always feel good about oneself. When a lady is bent on attracting a member of the opposite sex, sometimes it is not through the way she’s dressed. She can dress decently without exposing any vital parts and she’ll still achieve her aim.

A young girl choosing a short skirt could be tagged as an attention seeker, while an older woman doing the same is said to be having difficulty accepting that she is a grown-up. You are seen before you are heard (more like light travelling faster than sound).

This is why, before even uttering a word your visual image will say a multitude about you as an individual and that is very unfortunate because you’ve already been prejudged without knowing the ‘person’ in the attire.

When a girl puts on a belly-button-showing, spaghetti strap shirt, she is not thinking about how she hopes to lead men to sin. She’s probably thinking, ‘That’s a cute top, and it will look perfect with my shoes’.

Some people quickly decide if you’re a ‘believer’ (Christian) or of the ‘world’, just by the way a person is dressed/dresses. It may surprise you to know that the one who is a believer knows things of the world than the one in the world. Wearing what one feels comfortable in does not make her less a marriage material
