DID YOU KNOW THAT: Women Purchase Expensive Clothes & Accessories So That Other Women Won’t Steal Their Man?

woman-with-shopping-bags

All around the world, women continue to spend thousands on cloths and accessories. And those who cannot afford to join the purchasing group turn to stealing—like what Ghanaian Actess Emelia Brobbey recently did in London.

Women can’t just stop shopping…

According to a new study from the University of Minnesota, women purchase expensive clothes and accessories so that other women won’t steal their man.

According to DailyMail;

‘The feeling that a relationship is being threatened by another woman automatically triggers women to want to flash Gucci, Chanel, and Fendi to other women,’ PhD student Yajin Wang told CBS.
Instead of than strutting down the sidewalk in Christian Louboutin pumps in order to attract romantic interests, researchers have found that women actually want to ward off potential rivals.

‘When a woman is flaunting designer products, it says to other women “back off my man,”‘ explained Carlson School of Management Associate Professor Vladas Griskevicius.

Apparently, flaunting designer items gives off a vibe that the woman has a devoted partner, which in turn prevents other women trying to steal him.

The study found that women often automatically assume a woman’s designer bag was purchased by her boyfriend or husband, even if she bought it herself.

‘It might seem irrational that each year Americans spend over $250billion on women’s luxury products. . . but conspicuous consumption is actually smart for women who want to protect their relationship,’ said Mr Griskevicius.

The study looked at the shopping habits of nearly 650 women, and determined that when a woman feels her romantic relationship is being threatened, she will often turn to designer labels – and not necessarily for a simple pick-me-up.

‘A designer handbag or a pair of expensive shoes seems to work like a shield, where wielding a Fendi handbag successfully fends off romantic rivals,’ said Miss Wang.

  1. Whoever wrote this why use Emilia’s name in it, incase you haven’t been followinging news than go and check how her colleagues welcomed her, and how she never stole any bracelet it’s about time you people admit that you where wrong.

While most website are blogging her arrival plus video where she was interviewed you guys are still here trying to bring her down for what?

    • And so what? Zimmerman even had family and friends to jubilate with him for killing an innocent 17 year old son. You think jubilation means innocence right? Good for you. It is sad that you live in the UK but will accept such level of irresponsibility and lies…Have you been fined for shoplifting before when you have not shoplifted?

Whoever gets fined for shoplifting and proceeds to pay the fine, DID IT

      • @Posted By: Chris-Vincent Agyapong Febiri, hold on are you really going to compare Zimmerman case with this am I getting this right, headmaster if you claim that she did really steal it why don’t you bring evidence to the table or the person who fed you the story by making a video or voice recording like you always do so we know Where to go from here and as for Zimmerman case there was evidence on recording what have you got so far on Emilia Nada absolutely nothing

And of course in this modern life no one gets fined for shoplifting but they do ask you if you want to pay for it and she agreed to pay for it case close although she did mention that security guard sad something about “we Ghanaians always overstay” why would he make some type of allegation yet she claim security guard took her address and forwarded it to the police and couple of days later the knocked on the door looking for her, or is she lying about that too just too cover her tracks if you know you got facts and evidence put it on table but until than I don’t see the point of bringing we down correct me if I’m wrong

        Peace out

    • You really think she did not steal? Cool…Good for you and the many who think like you. But then I know she did. And the fact is, she did. She says she paid a fine of 80 pounds. Which is the fine you pay for shoplifting. So if she claims she did not shoplift, why pay a fine? Why will I accept liability for a crime I did not commit?

      Just read this; http://www.contactlaw.co.uk/shoplifting-and-the-law.html

And if she did not shoplift as we know and have stated, she can sue us…This will be a clear case of defamation.

It is getting upsetting and that is why I won’t bother with her. She is a thief and I am yet to see a thief who will raise her/his hand up and say, I stole….They always have an explanation.

It is not if she thinks she stole or not…It is what happened and what the law says she did. If she did not shoplift, she should not have paid the fine. I don’t have the time to dedicate my entire blog to a thief…If you believe she did not steal but foolishly accepted and paid a fine for shoplifting, then good for you!

At the end of the day, I am not the one who will be denied entry to UK next time and will have to live with the guilt forever. I don’t have to write under convictions; shoplifting anytime I fill a visa application form…she has to!

      Let her keep talking….

      • @Posted By: Chris-Vincent Agyapong Febiri, Chris pls watch d video again…she didnt pay a fine…she said she paid for d item cuz she had actually picked it bt accidentally dropped into her baby carrier….she wasn’t fined….d security guard (who I percieve to b racist) thought she was an illegal immigrant that’s why he forwarded her address to the police. She is not a thief…dat bracelet costs 30ghc…peanuts!!!

  3. HMMMMMM GHANA, SO SO POCKET LAWYERS! SOO PRIMITIVE OF SOME OF US: THE WAY WE JUMP AND POKE OUR NOSE INTO SITUATIONS WE KNOW NOTHING OF!
AS IF SOME OF THEM CAN STAND IN THE WITNESS BOX TO TESTIFY.

  4. Chris, is one crime less than the other? Is it Emelia’s fault her “friend” overstayed her visa? I won’t go int what Rmelia did or did not do. But your reasoning on this case is rather disappointing. Even if Emelia’s alleged crime caused her friend to get into trouble , both are on the same level of criminal offense if you ask me. The excitement with which you write about negative stories says a lot about your reasoning. No wonder Bella Naija is going places.

  5. She is Innocent. Have you ever heard a shoplifter getting caught and at the same time let off the hook without appearing before a Judge? In UK, the shoplifting Law is set up in a way that one cannot avoid paying a penalty even if it was a genuine mistake. So if she indeed paid 80 pounds then she’s Innocent after all because the fine for genuine mistake in an alleged shoplifting case in UK is fixed for 80 pounds.
