OBS: Archbishop Desmond Tutu Says He ‘Would Not Worship A Homophobic God’

Archbishop Desmond Tutu

Yeah, Archbishop Desmond Tutu says if God is homophobic—-hates gay or has negative attitudes and feelings toward homosexuality, then he will rather go to hell instead of worship Him. To him, God is not and as such Christians should not too.

According to Desmond Tutu, if heaven is going to be a place for non-gays, then he will refuse to go there. He will rather go somewhere, probably go HELL.

This suggests that Archbishop Desmond Tutu thinks God loves gays and being a homosexual should be embraced by the church and all.

According to BBC;

South Africa’s Nobel peace laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu says he will never worship a “homophobic God” and will rather go to hell.

The retired archbishop was speaking at the launch of a UN-backed campaign in South Africa to promote gay rights.

Despite sex-same relationships being legal in South Africa, it had some of the worst cases of homophobic violence, UN human rights chief Navi Pillay said.

Archbishop Tutu, 81, is a long-standing campaigner for gay rights.

‘Toilet brush attack’

He retired as Archbishop of Cape Town in 1996, but has remained the moral conscience of the nation, correspondents say.

Same-sex relationships are illegal in more than a third of countries around the world and punishable by death in five, Ms Pillay said.

In Africa, homosexual acts are still a crime in 38 countries, according to the rights group Amnesty International.

“I would refuse to go to a homophobic heaven. No, I would say sorry, I mean I would much rather go to the other place,” Archbishop Tutu said at the launch of the Free and Equal campaign in Cape Town.

“I would not worship a God who is homophobic and that is how deeply I feel about this.”

Archbishop Tutu said the campaign against homophobia was similar to the campaign waged against racism in South Africa.

“I am as passionate about this campaign as I ever was about apartheid. For me, it is at the same level,” he added.

Ms Pillay said gay and lesbian people in South Africa had some of the best legal safeguards since apartheid ended in 1994, but they still faced brutal attacks.

Last month, a lesbian was found dead, having been sexually assaulted with a toilet brush.

“People are literally paying for their love with their lives,” she said, AFP news agency reports.

The UN would push for gay rights to be recognised in countries where they are illegal, Ms Pillay said.

“I constantly hear governments tell me, ‘but this is our culture, our tradition and we can’t change it’… So we have lots of work to do,” she added.

Archbishop Tutu won the Nobel peace prize in 1984 for campaigning against white minority rule in South Africa.

  1. Desmond Tutu is suffering from MENopause so God will forgive him for his comment. Leviticus 18:22, You must not have sexual intercourse with a male as one has sexual intercourse with a woman; because it is an abomination. This quotation clearly indicates that God do not like homosexuality.

  2. This comment has been deleted under another post so I decided to post it here. I was one of the many people that
didn’t buy your story about Emelia Brobbey’s alleged shoplifting in UK. However, as the story keep
unfolding I begin to have second thought about Emelia Brobbey innocence until you mentioned this in your comment; “She says she paid a fine of 80 pounds. Which is the fine you pay for shoplifting. So if she
claims she did not shoplift, why pay a fine? My answer to your question is that, she paid the fine for her Genuine mistake. In UK, the shoplifting Law is set up in a way that, one cannot avoid paying a penalty even if it is a mistake. The fine for genuine mistake in an alleged shoplifting in UK is fixed for 80 pounds. So if indeed Emelia Brobbey did pay 80 pounds then she’s Innocent after all.
Let me also make it clear that, in an unlikely event you find yourself in this kind of situation, whether it’s a genuine mistake or not the store security guards will definitely contact the police because that’s their job.

    • @King kweku Quincy, that’s a sensible point. I guess we’ll never really know what went down. It’s sad though that your comment wasn’t printed since there are 2 sides to every story.

  3. Woow this is outrageus….If someone who claims he is a man of God should have the guts to spill this out then really the end time is really near. What a shame, homophobic is not accepted in the bible neither would we accept it in Africa. I guess he should get ready to go to hell cus that is where his comments would lead him to…. Finally the white men are penetrating into the minds of our leaders with this shameful act….
Let me make this clear, before anybody attacks me with hateful and stupid comments
I am a Christian and I am homophobic cus such  act is not accepted in my teachings , but I wont judge you cus at the end of the day its your choice .

  4. This my interpretation about the Archbishop’s comment…The Bible explicitly says God loves us all, even when we were yet sinners. God loves us all whether we are murderers, gays, adulterer and liars etc  but God wants us not to sin by committing these acts.. God’s love is unconditional but God doesn’t condone to Homosexuality! Nope the God does not agree with the ACT of Homosexuality! it is a sin and will always be like adultery, lying, gossip, murder, pre marital sex etc! So God loves man who he created in His own image but He does not love SIN..He hates  SIN……The problem is not the person who is gay,it is the act of sleeping with same sex person…It is a sin like any other sin and God hates sin,he has love for sinners but he Hates sin…for the wages of sin is  death!
