When some of us say Ghanaians do not see anything good in other Ghanaians or find anything great in Ghana, we are easily jumped on and lynched.
When I read that Akon is in Ghana on your blog-GhanaCelebrities.Com, I was happy that another African who has achieved great success in America and the world of music has decided to pay Ghana a visit.
My joy temperature went up higher when I continued reading, learning that he is in Ghana to shoot a music video of his song with two Nigerians. And even has hired a Ghanaian director to be in charge of the video.
First of all, Akon could have shot this video in anywhere of the world, including under the water and yet he decided to come to Ghana.
Secondly, he featured two Nigerians on the song and this means Nigeria was a good place for him. Yet he chooses Ghana and flew the two Nigerians to come and join him in Ghana.
What does this tell us as Ghanaians, especially our struggling musicians who will borrow money and clear all their savings to go to South Africa or London for a music video just to showcase the red London buses?
Akon can afford every location for his video and has the resource to hire whoever he wants. But he has seen something great in a Ghanaian and in Ghana. We fail to see these things and will kill ourselves just to stand by the road side in NY to shoot our music video.
When will we as Ghanaians begin to read the writing on the wall?
Akon, thanks for reminding some of us that Ghana is such a great place!

av already said this at the previous article, is abt time we invest our money in our local productions, u can travel to defferent location to shoot music video but make sure u let a Ghanaian director to do the job, sarkodie did with illuminati video, i love it bcos it was directed by phamous philms but i think it was short in Dubai, V.I.P did it with pampana, i think we av to start appreciating our local directors.

O Ankrah is it ur money??Have they begged u to sponsor their trips for them??As u said Akon has shot videos all over the world and now he is shooting in Ghana to add to his collection.So what is wrong in a Ghanaian musician also shooting around the world to add to his/her collection??Dont be saying anything just lyk that without carefully considering both sides
@frog, i think ur getting the whole article wrong, is not abt jst shooting the video in Ghana but we re talking of using our local directors to do the job.
@Degraft, You see the Entertainment industry especially music industry is not all about our local directors doing the job which Mr.Frog hit part of it. If im a musician of course i will like to have a variation or different flavor in my collection so thus the need for different directors even to the point of going outside. Also this forces competition and make directors to be more creative.

Akon is in Ghana for private business which may involve promotion of a new Energy drink & a private concert.
The two Nigerian artists joined him in Ghana to shoot a video out of convenience and not necessarily bcos there was anything ‘special’ about Ghana.
I think it actually depends on the reasons they have for shooting abroad or here. If you feel shooting in a foreign location adds more authenticity to the message in your video them fine. Mind you, Rick Ross shot one of his videos in Nigeria, but he used slums and dirty children in his video
