ON SECOND THOUGHT: Don’t Take Kwaw Kese ‘ABODAM’ For Granted!

Kwaw-Kese

It is true that, the boy who always cried wolf was not taken serious when the wolf actually appeared because the people of the town stopped falling for his games. This is exactly what has happened to the self acclaimed “King of the Streets”.

Not so long ago, viewers of the street edition of the Vodafone Icons were alarmed by reports of a disruption of events that took place during the finals of the reality show. Kwaw Kese allegedly climbed onto the stage to show disagreement on the decision to name Ryan winner of this year’s edition of the show.

Many, including myself immediately reacted to this news horrified by the act in a way, so I decided to reserve my comments and wait patiently for the recorded airing of the show on TV to see for myself what really happened. My first reaction was that of disappointment, and in a way sided with Kwaw Kese.

This is because; with nothing else interesting to watch on our screens, I followed the show faithfully right from the rainy outdoor auditions to the street carnival they had in Osu. There is no doubt that this year’s edition was very interesting and the talents showcased were a little better than before.

Buda’s selection brought some variety and spice to the show, Zakia’s energy was unbeatable, Marian’s attitude on stage was breathtaking and Ryan’s looks and voice were very impressive. I wasn’t too impressed with neither the band nor the fact that two of the three judges did not understand “Twi” or any other local languages in which the contestants sang. But above all, the show was entertaining.

In as much as we all agree Kwaw Kese’s outburst was not in any way the best in showcasing one’s displeasure, I would ask that his words are not just pushed aside totally. This is no small allegation to make and as such corned industry persons need to really approach Kwaw Kesse, and begin serious investigations into the matter in which I strongly believe it can be more true than false.

Vodafone has come out to debunk the allegation but I also suggest that they carry their own investigations within their company if they “claim” they had absolutely nothing to do with the case of bribery.

However, I am tempted to believe Kwaw Kese’s words because a lot of things were just not right on the finals of the show, depicting signs of some planned “Kuluulu”.

I watched the recorded final show together with some cousins and even though we weren’t rooting for anyone in particular, honestly, Ryan who was the declared the winner did not impress us that much on that particular night.

It could probably be because of the fact that we already knew he had won and so the expectations of him were very high. However, I do not want to totally attribute it to that, since both his performances that night according to all three judges was “just okay” for them.

On the contrary, Marian and Budah were able to wow their fans and received praises from all three judges. So much so that when the two were called upfront during eviction time, for a minute, we all thought they were the ones who had qualified to the next round; till we remembered Ryan had already been announced winner days before that.

Of course, Kwaw Kese’s “little show” was fast forwarded and viewers who had missed everything just for that part were very disappointed (of course what were we thinking?). But at the end of the whole declaration, the auditorium was half empty, with the empty seats obviously belonging to Buda’s fans who I am thinking had left the venue in disappointment of the outcome.

Now, In Vodafone’s reaction to Kwakese’s allegations, they claimed the results were solely based on votes ( I stand to be corrected). If this is the case, then I am thinking that the presence of the judges was completely useless!

If KwaKese claims that the organizers of the show demanded an amount of money for Buda to be declared winner then I think that statement needs to be very well investigated.

We are aware that Kwaw Kese is clothed in controversy but I believe this allegation of his needs to be taken quite seriously; for once.
