MUST READ: Can Ghanaian Parents Be Celebrity Managers? Looking At Kwadee’s Situation From A Total New Angle

Kwadee
Kwadee

In the past week or two, the Media landscape in Ghana has once more been awash with the Okomfo Kwadee saga, this time with a tantalizing twist in which the troubled musician’s Mother stormed the offices of OM studios in Accra and engaged everyone present in both physical and verbal confrontation resulting in a studio employee’s clothes being shredded off him!

Jerry Anaba’s (Kwadee’s real name) mum’s issue was simple: LEAVE MY SON ALONE! Over the years, Kwadee had been checked into both conventional and church-oriented rehab undergoing treatment and counselling for a mental disorder (quoted in some media outlets as schizophrenia brought about by abuse of narcotics; presumably weed) and just when he appears to be recovering nicely, the ‘scavengers’ in the entertainment/music business emerge again to lure him into the very activity that pushed the talented Kumasi-based rapper into the black hole of drugs and substance abuse.

“JJ” as Kwadee’s mother fondly calls him has not realized a penny- or more appropriately a pesewa from his efforts /talents since venturing into music. Meanwhile those purported to be managing him always make a killing each time he was put on stage, she alleged.

Kwadee has rather been be-deviled by the whole experience. Therefore, she believes it’s  time her son moves on and will be better off doing something else.

The entire episode of the treated addict’s mother visiting her fury on staff of OM studios was captured on tape; so this is no mere allegation. She has continued to grant interviews on radio stations pleading with the powers that be in Ghana entertainment to stop tempting her son into this fuzzy music affair.

POLITRICKS OF THE DAY: President Mahama Says To Ghanaians: ‘Stop Complaining; God Has Blessed Us’

President Mahama Sipping

In a time like this, although I do not hate the president, I find his comment really irritating and in bad taste.

If he was a local man on the streets, he would not have the nerve to further aggravate people’s nerves at a time like this. Maybe he would appreciate the suffering of the people more.

Politicians in Ghana think they are omnipotent?—too much goofing. Just after the minister of Petroleum and Energy  Kofi Buah told us ‘Turn your lights off, if electricity is expensive’, the president of Ghana John Mahama has thrown his own stones at Ghanaians.

I find the presidents utterances to the economic plight of people totally insensitive. How do you tell us not to complain? As if we are all swimming in a lap of political luxury. I think at this point the only people who manage to smile are politicians only.

Who manages the president’s communication? The president’s communication team needs to sit up! I will repeat this anywhere. His communication is grossly mismanaged.

From publicly declaring the increase of football bonuses from his own mouth in the middle of labour strikes and unrests to telling Ghanaians to stop complaining! I am not amused.

After saying this, the president added that he is confident Ghana will come out of it difficulties in due season just as developed nations like the United States of America and England. He explained that the developed nations also went through such hurdles but later overcame them—-he said this at a thanksgiving service in his honour at the Star of The Sea Catholic Church yesterday.
