The Christian And The ‘Enemy’….WITHIN

Prayer

If you’re a Christian and you believe you DO NOT have an enemy, have a re-think or a ‘de-believe’ that fact – or myth. As a regular church goer (OK, I just lied…not regular), I have over the years noticed an interesting aspect in the area of ‘prayer time’, and this when we are directed to pray for or against.

If the prayer has to do with thanking God,  praying for your country, home country, parts of the world where there is distress, the church (congregants, leadership) or even our families (children, husband, wife), everyone prays diplomatically. Of course they’re praying but as ladies and gentlemen looking good and smelling fresh, they must maintain their ‘personality’ and composure.

When the prayer point of ‘pray against the ENEMY, the killer of your sorrows, the enemy who does not want your progress, the ‘person’ holding your marriage and your happiness, that Holy Ghost fire will burn them etc.’….There you will notice what is called prayer.

The whole auditorium becomes charged, you will hear what the next person has got to say and send back to the enemy. Bottom line – thunderous prayer, the type that shakes the floor. Missiles fired here and there, people break in sweat even if it’s snowing. The first time I encountered this interesting thing was when I started attending ‘charismatic churches’. I was brought up a Presbyterian so was used to the (then) type of solemn worship and prayer.

Cross Country Dating, What Has Your Experience Been? | Chris-Vincent Shares His…

Birthday Boy-Chris Vincent Agyapong
Chris-Vincent Agyapong

I have dated a good number of women but grouping them based on their countries of origin makes it quiet easier to keep track of the experience and realize how people behave differently—probably based on where they come from…

I think I should state at this point that, not all the dates landed me in bed. I am talking about getting to know women beyond friendship with intention of a relationship—despite the fact that the intention does not have to always materialize.

Conversation/Communication

From my experience, being able to build the first contact and conversation with women from Ghana is the easiest.  I am sure this is influenced by the fact that I am also from Ghana and we definitely can throw in a lot of common talks.

Similarly, it was pretty an easy flow with the two Nigerian girls I dated and the beautiful Sierra Leonean high heel lady too.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t hold any proper conversations with the two African Americans and a certain Barbados girl I dated while at the University. And I pretty much believe the huge cultural difference made it impossible for us to share anything in common—-even on subjects of international nature; we could not find suitable ones to discuss.

General Experience

Let me fast forward this to share my behaviour experience about these women of different countries…

As much as the Ghanaian ones held on certain values and principles which no amount of persuasion could push them to abandon, the beautiful African American ladies and Bajan princess did not hold tight on any identifiable values.

To me, they were extensively open minded about everything and without hesitation, where ready to try whatever comes their way—-as long as it was not a hardcore poison.

My experience with the two Nigerians is pretty fascinating. They were not ready to let go their self derived principles but were pushy to let you ditch yours. I am not sure if it will be appropriate to say they were close minded to incoming threats.

Settling Down

Interestingly, it was easy to establish from conversations, attitudes and general outlook of life that all the Africans I have dated were thinking about settling down in life—-even if it was not with me, they had that sort of wish…
