Single Women Should Ditch Facebook Because Seeing Friends’ Weddings And Babies Is Bad For Their Health-Says Relationship Expert

Black woman using computer

Last week, a GC Staff writer shared with us her experience from using various social media platforms and why she DELETED her facebook account.

According to her article; “Facebook or Instagram is an online world where people can claim to be anything they want with words and photos.” and that she was not far from depression because of the sort of things she read and saw on these platforms.

Today, a different article is suggesting that single women should ditch Facebook because the ‘perfect lives’ of their friends are bad for their health. And we know some of the ‘perfect lives’ are not even real—they are presented as such but they can be false.

According to DailyMail;

Author Zoe Strimpel (, a relationship expert) says the social media site bombards singletons with pictures of ‘perfect’ weddings and babies which causes envy and voyeurism.

She said: ‘What [Facebook] does is it enhances the sense that your life is lacking and specifically, when you are single, you focus in on all those pictures of perfect weddings, perfect babies, perfect couples.

She urged single women to cut down or get rid of Facebook completely during a lecture at Cambridge’s Festival of Ideas.

She said getting rid of your profile will help ‘limit that delicious but yucky feeling of voyeurism, slight envy, maybe even narcissism.’

WHAT THE HECK: Beauty Pageant For SKIN BLEACHERS In Ghana Called ‘Miss Fair & White’ & Kafui Danku Is The Face of It?

Kafui Danku-Miss Fair and White
Kafui Danku-Miss Fair & White

I’ve not met Kafui Danku before but I spoke to her the last time I was in Ghana. We were supposed to meet up but I was flying off the same day so the meeting had to be cancelled.

From the minutes I spent on the phone with Kafui Danku (plus what I know about her), she comes across as a smart determined person and with Samira Yakubu being her current manager, I have been waiting for her to take over as the next big Ghanaian film star.

This is why I am extremely shocked and to some extent disgusted by her recent ‘business decision’ as the face of a pageant which calls itself ‘Miss Fair & White’.  Kafui Danku was over the weekend crowned Miss Fair & White 2014…

Miss F&W is reported to be an initiative surrounding Fair and White Gold, a beauty product which is “designed to tone and protect the skin from the direct sun rays”. Take note of the words beauty product and tone—and you know where this is heading.

‘Fair & White’ products are for skin lightening/bleaching and that is the plain TRUTH!

In my estimation, this is all about; a company that sells bleaching/toning products seeking to gain sales by organizing a beauty pageant (probably to encourage bleaching which we now refer to as lightening/toning) and rising star Kafui Danku is proud to be associated with it.

I am sure every rational person can see where this is heading by just considering the name of the product, the pageant and what the product does. What is Fair & White?  Simply google; Fair & White Beauty Products’ and see for yourself…

Is this where we are going with the fight against skin bleaching/toning?

Magazine FAB : Actress Juliet Ibrahim Covers A-Listers Magazine + Shows Her ‘Middle East/Asia’ Style On Oviation

Juliet Ibrahim A Lister cover

Actress Juliet Ibrahim seems to cover more magazines in and out of Ghana than most of our celebrities—probably for the reason that she has what can catch an attention and has a lot to talk about…

Adding to her many FAB magazine covers, the mother of one has graced the maiden edition of A-Listers magazine, posing in a little provocative but admiring way.

Last month, she also covered Oviation magazine in a ‘Middle East/Asia’ style and talked about her family, fame and charity works.

Looking at the two magazines, it is amazing how Juliet Ibrahim successfully play the provocative girl on one cover and a decent wife on another…

THE BIG QUESTION: Why Do So Many Modern Marriages Break Down?

Love

Marriage these days is hard to take serious even locally among ordinary people.

Today married, tomorrow divorced. Was I surprised to hear Will Smith and his wife have separated? No I wasn’t but I was sad. Sad to see them let go and give up on a powerful partnership. When you have stayed with someone for so long and shared so much of your life and yourself with him/her, how do you get up and go?

Nobody said marriage was supposed to be a stroll in the park. I tell my friends everyday, you cannot marry for love only. You marry someone you can build with, for trust and understanding—for honour.

My Grandmother once said to me, young people these days do not know how to persevere. They talk too much love and still end up making mistakes and then turn around to say they have fallen out of love. But why did you marry for love only? Because love will take you to marriage but it cannot take you through marriage and life standing alone. You need much more than love!

Marriages do not last because two people fall out of love with each other. You have to learn to repair the cracks instead of walking away from it. What makes you think you will find a better person? A better person aside the one you are leaving? And will you walk out on that person too when the going gets rough or when they make a mistake?

I understand and appreciate that some problems can leave you no option but to flee. However, let us face it, most people flee for the slightest reason.
