THE BIG QUESTION: Are Ghanaian Women Emotionally Weak Compared to Nigerian Women?

A Ghana supporter arrives at Gold Coast bar-restaurant in Brixton, south London.

I used to think Ghanaian women were fiery on a normal day but I seem to have been proven wrong. Well, not until I have sampled the general impression and that is why I am writing this.

So the comparison is between Ghanaian and Nigerian women. And it has come about because I listened to a strange dialogue between two women on TV. In a Nigerian movie, I wasn’t exactly watching but this part sure caught my attention.

One Nigerian woman is sitting alone crying her eyes out and screaming…her two friends (who are also Nigerian) approach her. She is still crying hysterically so her friends demand to know why she is crying. She says: “one woman is stealing my man from me” and continues balling her eyes put.

Her friend incredulously asks: “is that why you are crying? What nonsense! If I didn’t know you well, I would have said you are a Ghanaian woman!”

I was so shocked I just had my mouth hanging open. What is she trying to say? That only Ghanaian women cry over their men? Are we emotionally weak?

Kindly bear in mind that I am trying to have a friendly discussion here. No malice intended to Ghanaian or Nigerian women. It just seemed really amusing.

Do we react to emotional situations differently? Where a Ghanaian woman cries over a man, what does her Nigerian counterpart do? Fight? Fight who exactly? The woman taking her man or her man and what is the result?

What is the typical way in which a Nigerian woman would have approached this situation that makes her different from a Ghanaian woman who will simply cry?

Let’s start talking…

  1. Nonsense, if there is anything Nigerian women know how to do better than Ghanaian women, then it is the fact that they know how to cheat and steal. It is a Nollywood movie so what else did you expect?

  8. I think a few of you are having a bad day so you decided to a friendly discussion into hate. meanwhile I clearly stated this meant no harm. I personally think Ghanaians and Nigerians are siblings and all the fighting is out of love. lol
by the way, I do not remember the title of the movie but no, I did not make this up. The lady who acted the part is Funke Akindele and she was crying over Mr. Ibu. as for the two other friends, I do not know them.
I also believe the movie was meant to be funny so the harsh comments are just wrong.

    • @gc staff, is true I have seen that movie it was shown on crystal TV on Wednesday I think. I didn’t start the movie so I don’t know the title too but you are right.

    • @gc staff, and if u knew it was just one funny movie,What was the point of even deciding to write an article about it?It was worthless…U could ve laughed about it with ur friends and end it right there. Now see the unnecessary argument u ve caused on here…And back to ur article,at the end of the day every human has emotions, there are weaker and stronger women everywhere.
