Most Ghanaian Entertainment Journalists/Reporters Are Lazy! Kwame Hagan Throws A SHOT…

Journalism

I have spent time over the years following news circulating in the Ghanaian entertainment industry. There is one particular thing that I have come to realize: this has to do with the one way reporting of issues by Entertainment journalists/bloggers.

Most often, I browse from site to site with the hope of getting varieties of stories to read, but I find the same stories on all the various entertainment websites. When I talk of same stories, I do not mean reporters covering the same event or even writing about the same issue in their own perspective. What I am referring to is exact content being copied and pasted on every site with little or no credit given.

Try browsing from one entertainment site to another and you will find out what I am talking about. Stories with the same headlines and same contents appear on almost all the sites. It is of no use to jump from one website to the other because you are sure to find the same news articles (word to word) on these sites.

I am sure it is only one person who sits down to write the stories. The rest just copy and paste the stories on their various websites after the first has been published it.

THE BIG QUESTION: The Lord Is NOT Their Shepherd: Do Pastors Need Bodyguards?

Pastor Chris Okotie and BodyGuards
Pastor Chris Okotie and BodyGuards

I don’t know about you, but I’ve always wondered why preachers have bodyguards. Some even have these bodyguards on the pulpit or around the pulpit, in church! This begs the question, why does a preacher need bodyguards in church, and even so on the platform or around the pulpit? If it is for protection – protection from who… an embittered member (In fact, some of these preachers are so big-headed and distant from the people that you can’t touch them with a ten-foot pole), a psycho or from the devil himself? Come on now! I think this whole bodyguard craze is more of an ego thing than it is for protection.

These preachers live for themselves and if truth be the told, the main reason why most preachers have bodyguards, is because they are afraid to die and are not ready to die for Christ’s sake – they don’t want to see heaven; at least not yet!

If a pastor is sincere and born again and believes that he is going straight to heaven if he dies today, why would he be afraid of death to the extent of employing body guards? And if it is for protection, it’s definitely not because of their unpopular, rightly-divided sermons. At best, it is protection for their worldly goods – their expensive jeweleries, designer suits, mansions, etc. One thing I find interesting about us, Christians, is how much we talk about heaven; how beautiful it is, how we look forward to going yet most of us are not willing to go now when offered! Why?

MUST READ: Who Has The Duty & Right To Ban ‘China-Kente’ – Asantehene or The Government?

Kente

I don’t intend to sound tribally prejudiced, but I can say vehemently that Kente, which originates from Ashanti Kingdom, is Ghana’s most revered cotton and silk cultural fabric.

Fondly won by Ashantis, other sects in the Akan ethnic group and other non-Akan ethnic groups, Kente is the cultural as well as the ex officio fabric won by Ashanti kings for both national and international events.

The Ashanti kingdom is the most authoritative monarchy in Ghana’s history from ancient days till date. Not only do the kings wear Kente but the Queen mothers of Ashanti wear Kente too. The Queen Mothers put it on in a style known as “baasankye” with a hair style known as “dansinkran.”

Observing the Ghanaian scene over the last decade, Kente which is warmly appreciated and has a high commercial value when manually woven with the hands (as it has been done from ancient days till now), is gradually losing its commercial value through the importation of other ‘adulterated’ forms of Kente popularly called “China Kente.”

This adulterated Kente fabrics are imported into the country from China by some Ghanaian and foreign fabric investors. They go to China with samples of the original Kente, allow the fabric designers or textiles companies there to copy our original Adinkra symbols/designs in the Kente and print huge quantities. The final result is “China Kente” imported back to Ghana.

Sandra Ankobiah to Raise Funds for SOS Children’s Village

Sandra Ankobiah3

Television Presenter and Lawyer, Sandra Ankobiah is raising funds for the SOS Children’s Village in Tema, in a campaign dubbed Sandra Ankobiah Fashion for Action.

The initiative would see her sell some original signature clothes of hers (all worn on the TV3 New Day show), to raise funds for the facility.

The special sale comes off at the Mensvic Hotel, East Legon, on December 21, during the Rozay 1 Day Sale fair.

A laudable initiative, Sandra says the motivation, was to find some others ways of raising funds for the institution.

“In the spirit of giving during this Christmas period, I am selling all the outfits I’ve been wearing on New Day,” she says.

“Proceeds will go to the SOS Children’s Home in Tema. Clothes have only been worn once and dry-cleaned. Sizes 8-10. It’s not an auction,” she adds.

Leila Djansi Questions The Credibility Of Ghana Movie Awards & The Organizers Say She Is Talking BS…

Leila Djansi
Leila Djansi

As usual, the 2013 Ghana Movie Awards nomination list has kick-started the annual controversy, with many industry persons who are missing from the nomination list pointing fingers at the organizers.

Also, some of those who have scored nominations think they belong to certain categories—and not where they’ve been placed, GhanaCelebrities.Com has learned.

Leading the complaints team, film-maker-Leila Djansi has taken to social media platform-Faceebook to question the credibility and sense of direction of the Ghana Movie Awards.

Putting across her rant in relation to her own movie-Northern Affairs, Leila said, she finds it difficult to understand the nomination of Joselyn Dumas in the ‘Best Actress In Supporting Role’ category, when Joselyn Dumas played the lead role in the movie.

Leila Djansi wrote;

“Ghana Movie Awards, what on earth? How can Joselyn Dumas be nominated in supporting actress, when the entire story of A Northern Affair was told from her point of view?”

She continued;

“Guys guys guys, if we are going to do something let us do it right. Please. We can’t continue like this. Get it together and get it right. GMA is a laudable enterprise but it needs to grow in the right direction”.

From Leila Djansi’s social media rant, it is obvious her problem is with the fact that as the Director of the movie, she is the best person to determine who is a lead or supporting if anything at all. And beyond that, the fact that a movie is all about someone places the person in the lead character category.

But when GhanaCelebrities.Com reached out to the organizers of the Ghana Movie Awards, they had an interesting and what seems like the right answer…

According to the organizers ‘like the Oscars and other big awards do, it is not the number of times a person appears in a movie or who the film-maker thinks is the lead that matters. But rather what the sitting committee members of GMA decide’.

Citing section 3 of Rule 6—Rules & Eligibility of the Oscars as a precedent, the organizers said “it is unfortunate that some people have failed to make the necessary enquiry before jumping into talking. Who is a lead or supporting in a movie is solely determined by the selected committee who ballot on this”.

Jealousy…The Road To Death

Black woman

A Ghanaian man, Minta Adiddo was yesterday jailed in London for 17 years for stabbing his wife, Akua Agyeman, 32, fifteen times before attempting to run her over with his car over suspicion she was cheating with their neighbour. The mother of 2 spent two months in hospital before giving up the ghost. He as usual blamed his actions on the devil. A young vibrant life lost because of insecurity and ‘maybe’ unfounded suspicion.

Human emotions get the better part of some people, and this includes women in relationships, Jealousy has torn apart many a relationship over the years. It verges on and has easily crossed the lines of paranoia and obsessive behaviour which has led some to be violent to their partners and some to their early graves. Whatever form a man’s jealousy takes, the root cause is always the same: insecurity. Many ladies misread the signs when entering into a relationship with a jealous man, interpreting his possessive behaviour as caring, loving or even romantic.

Jealousy is excruciatingly uncomfortable. People sometimes try to make themselves feel better by trying to get their partner jealous. Don’t do this. Flirting with other men or women all the time in front of your partner; constantly saying how attractive, fun and going out of your way to talk about past lovers just demeans you and won’t make either of you feel better in the relationship. Some people confuse make-believe with reality. Making another jealous to ‘measure’ their worth of love is absurdity.
